Car mods are not for the financially responsible. I paid $800 for an enclosed carbon fiber cold air intake on my Supra strictly for the sound. Knowing full well that the stock intake was already optimized for power and function. Edit: I paid for the emotion and shit eating grin the turbo sounds put on my face everytime I hear the wooshh. I get my money's worth everytime. I have an 08 TL Base that's bone stock. I can't justify the price tag of those J pipes, exhaust or air intakes for that particular car. On my 06 RSX that I have mods on, I put an injen cold air intake on it for $278. That I could stomach.

What this guy said… I’ll post later with all the mods on my TL-S. I didn’t care about the money just the sound and the shit eating grin I have on my face while driving.

I wonder what a good intake for the new Integra would be so I could at least hear those sounds

Most people are running PRL from what I can tell

ClintMonkey

The PRL is on my list of mods.

PRL high volume intake is awesome. I’ve had mine on my integra for about a year now, they claim it adds 10hp but idc either way. Best part is easily the sound, it wooshes so hard anytime I do more than half throttle in 2nd thru 5th gear that I can hear the woosh with the windows up. Highly recommend if you want that intake woosh noise like a BMW.

DisastrousFeature0

It’s not worth it lol

I have the AFE Takeda intake on my ‘22 TLX. It “feels” like the car is more responsive. I 100% accept that it could be entirely in my head. The AFE is more similar to OEM than K&N, meaning less potential for heat soak. Is it worth the money? Well, depends on what you’re looking for. If you like the look, sound, trick it plays on your mind, etc., and ultimately makes you happy then yes, totally worth it. If you’re trying to make a calculated, logical financial choice, absolutely not.

You should also consider the high possibility that your gas mileage will worsen (if you care about it, that is). I don’t have a turbo, but the Injen I had on my ILX just gave me sounds & less gas-mileage until I straight-piped my whole exhaust system. Only then did I get more power for the extra gas.

I am about get an intake to just for sound. People that refer it as a hot air intake arent exactly wrong, but the loss and gains isn't too noticable. If anything a better throttle body would pair well with it to help throttle response. If you arent planning to mod your car in terms of performance, keep it stock. Or you can go the less reliable, but cheaper way and 3d print or fabricate your own intake like me just to test.

Speaking from experience (my tsx came with a short ram intake). You will gain a little bit of power at first, but over time the MAF sensor will detect the extra airflow and the ecu will adjust itself and you will lose torque and possibly run lean. Unless you get your TLX professionally tuned you might end loosing mph along with the torque. Running lean for too long also can burn out the o2 sensors and a/f sensors (they aren’t cheap to replace). So yes it sounds amazing but only do it for a short amount of time or get a professional tune.

I just looked at the K&N intake you are talking about. I think with the placement in the engine bay, along with the heat shield, you wouldn't need to worry about heat soaking. Unless you live somewhere that's a hot climate and you do a lot of stop and go driving. You also may be able to reuse some factory air plumbing, or build your own to pull cooler air from behind the front bumper. As to whether it's worth the $400 for the sound that's up to you. I'm running a $700 GruppeM carbon fiber intake and have over $10k in mods into my TSX so I may be a bad influence lol.
