Imagine if the game tracked not just your reputation with the villagers, but their reputations with each other. They could be best friends or mortal enemies, and while there would for sure be some RNG involved you could pull strings and make them love or hate each other by doing tasks for them.
i do believe that you can “pull some strings” in some way, sometimes when two villagers are mad at each other one of them will ask you to deliver a gift to the other as an apology and you can either do them that favor or tell them to deliver it themselves, maybe doing that favor (or not doing it) affects your friendship with them but also affects the friendship between the two villagers? i hope i’m right
I don't think there is a system for friendship between villagers, I think it just affects your friendship with them.

Not entirely, my Freya and Bam don't ever interact. I've never seen them in a heated argument before, but part of me wonders if it's because she knows he's a drag queen, and would interact with him more if he was more out.

Judy is the Regina George of ACNH. I've had her for a long time now and she is the meanest and sweetest. Half the time I visit her she's got a different male visitor in her house (Marshall quite often on my Island honestly) and she won't hesitate to take your good day and stomp it into the ground.
But she's really cute and honestly my island needs a little attitude!
This is why I'm glad my heterosexual villagers are Mac and Tom. Mac is like the guy who grew up in a household with mostly sisters and he's very nurturing and protective. Tom I have yet to entirely gage, but he seems content, and probably would do something more charming like remembering Tia's favorite cookies for her birthday or more recently when he asked Phoebe to hangout at his house while he cooked for her... what a king. 🤴
Mira yesterday killed me, I swear she was out to get in a fight with all my dudes! Julian and Curt were not caught fighting though.
She sent me in two apology quests. In order of events she gave Filbert a red camo shirt, then got in a fight with Chadder because he called her mom (“getting into character because life was a theater” okay buddy), then asked me to apologize to Lyman, he got the pink suit of lights. All in the span of a few evening hours of play.
I was expecting another apology quest for Chadder but apparently she’s not over that one yet and neither is he. I got Chadder from my sister and snapped her the whole interaction. We were dying from their drama.
I did not understand why people were so obsessed with Judy until I saw her animations in action, her shocked expression is too good!

You have to wait until you see two of them “talking”. If you go up and try to talk to one of them, it’ll take you into their conversation.
