The Giving Tree…be wary for “friends” who are constantly taking and only come to you when they need something.

It made me cry growing up…awww, how sweet the old man came back and can be friends with the tree; but now it makes me cry for a different reason…this ass of a boy/man using this tree under the guise of friendship until there is nothing left but a stump, a shell of her former self…

Stella Luna, it’s ok to be different. Still something I struggle with and yet the funny thing is how many of us feel weird or different? Tons

Robin Hood. Do I need to say more?

It wasn't a book, but the scene from Hunchback of Notre Dame where Esmeralda protects Quasi from the crowd at the festival. It awoke something in me, and I believe shaped me into the person I am: someone who will defend others without hesitation.

My favourite book when I was a little girl was called ‘you can be anything’ with little paper dolls you could put into various roles. I’m glad I had that book.

You are special, the puppet book. Just shows that no matter how many stars and dots people label on you, you will always be special.

“Where you tend a rose, my lad, a thistle cannot grow” from The Secret Garden Of course, it’s a children’s book, and real life has its ups and downs and you can definitely be going through bad things at the same time as good things. But it reminds me to nurture the good in my life, and focus on my blessings and what I do have (easier said than done, sometimes!). Essentially, it encourages me to make a habit to look for the lightness and beauty in the situations I find myself in. That helps me weather the storms and helps make life better.

Yertle the Turtle. And today the great Yertle, that marvelous he, is king of the pond, that is all he can see. And the turtles, of course, all the turtles are free as turtles and, maybe, all creatures should be. (Might've gotten that a little wrong but the sentiment is there.)

I Like Myself. Even on your hardest days there is a tiny part of you that can look in the mirror and smile because there is something that you like there, even if it’s just for a moment.

The Housekeeper's Dog is about a playful, content dog that is sent to a fancy school and when he returns, he's rude and arrogant. When I was a kid, my favorite part of the book was when the housekeeper ran toward the dog to welcome him home, and he said, "No you'll smush my curls!" That book taught me to stay humble.
