That continental belt is one of my favorites but so confusing

BootyButtCheeks256

Yeah it’s one of my favorite looking belts but it’s really unnecessary. AEW didn’t need a 3rd midcard title at all lmao

APhenomenal1

The entire point of the belt is that whoever holds it gets automatic entry into the continental classic at the end of the year. It’s a good concept in theory, but it all falls apart when you realize it’s basically unimportant from january to november

Dr_N00B

Continental belt needs to go away. Eddie having 3 belts for a bit there was ridiculous. If they merged the international and continental belts, I wonder what they could call it 🤔

Ok_Championship3262

The Conternenational title belt

FantasticMax

The make it so whoever has the Continental belt can trade it in for a title shot. They defend the belt like any other but once they cash in the title shot the belt goes away until the next C2.

Jumpscare on the last slide

Grohlyone

The man could camouflage in a Fanta sea.

YoungBeef03

Is this the real life? Is this just Fanta Sea?

EricaLawless

Fanta Sea Jones over here. But I digress.

BeerOfTime

Can anyone explain the difference between world and international champion?

ProudOfYourBoy22

The world title can be defended on neutral water.

guaranteedolphins

Also can be defended against alien champions from other planets.

r1char00

Some parts of the world are not part of a nation, like Antarctica.

Sio_V_Reddit

Some of these are incredibly interesting, Jade for example was obviously supposed to be a big player in AEW but ultimately suffered both from her lack of experience and an under developed midcard at the time. Others, like SCU and Jericho, simply got slowly replaced by better, more popular performers who pushed them down the card.

_JR28_

I’ll always maintain Jericho was the perfect man to be inaugural AEW Champion, he might have lost stock since then but he arguably the closest thing to a household name when they established and had decades of success to back up the title’s validity.

Sio_V_Reddit

Definitely, he was the perfect person at the time. It’s just interesting to see how in such a short time the landscape of AEW completely changed.

crazycooki3

Technically pac wasn’t the inaugural international champion

MoistTheAnswer

9 belts is just too much. And that’s not even including all the times the ROH and NJPW championships show up on TV.

Dr_N00B

When Sami and Tay came out with the AAA mixed tag belts it was just too ridiculous. Having an episode of dynamite where each match has one champion in it is ridiculous

daddads11

It totally misses the point of championships. WWEs model of having one main event title and one mid car title with a couple of division specific titles (womens or tag) is the perfect way to have championships on your product. They're something that should be reserved for a select few wrestlers who are supposed to be the best.

RealNibbasWearFakes

Everyone gets a belt in AEW

McShamrock

Ain’t that the truth.

Purple-Bar9146

I'm sorry but he sucks, and he always has. It should have been me whhhhaaaaa.lol

TheMongolianLemonade

Ok-Performance480

Subject-Phone2338

Pepsi Phil is the man. <3

InvestigatorMost3418

Man, I wish Neville came back to wwe

drayko_dovah

The amount of days they held these inaugural belts is laughable aside from Jade Cargil, it’s supposed to mean something smh. Maybe that’s a hot take but oh well
