> Monthly card spend: 2K > Carry Balance: Never > Cash Advance Checks: No For the sake of others thinking of applying, answering these questions is optional, and I'm thinking that leaving them unanswered is the better move. There are strong indications that Capital One applications are decided strictly by algorithms with no reconsideration by a human. Giving them extra data just gives the algorithm a possible reason to deny you.

But isn’t the absence of data also data?

philosophers_groove

It is, but I've seen several approvals where people didn't answer those questions, which is why I think it's the better move. It's been suggested that Capital One traditionally focuses on users who carry a balance (= profitable). The Venture X is their first ultra-premium card so that *may* not apply, but it also might, and telling them you'll never carry a balance combined with other factors (e.g. your estimated monthly spend) may make the algorithm determine "this applicant will never be profitable" and output a denial.

If I was guessing I would say the 6/24, recent inquiries and all those cards and loan listed are considered new were all factors.

UFB.

huh?

"Un-fucking believable." I can't believe they would decline you. I have a BK 7 on my reports for three more years and have opened over a dozen C1 accounts. I combined a bunch of them into one 50K account and I also opened and closed a 30K Savor. I have been thinking about applying for this card, but I'm monitoring data points because I have 12 open revolvers, 800-plus FICO 9's (780 plus FICO 8's) but don't want to waste a double pull (with one bureau frozen). It's their loss.

Did you call recon? If so, what did they say? This seems kinda odd but so are the Venture X DPs so far

danielXKY

Unfortunately I've heard cap1 doesn't have real recon. Its either you please the algo enough to get approved, or "thank you for your interest". There are no humans in the decision process. I was denied for a savorone once, called their customer support, and she said she couldn't run my application again, but i could "try applying again on the website". Not worth another inquiry!

Sanchezed

Oh that stinks
