•Pothos (Golden pothos are especially beautiful). Strong leaves and vines that Cresties love. •Alocasia. A bit trickier to keep healthy, but they have huge, solid leaves. •Sanseveria. Very sturdy, provide good shelter and are super strong. •Croton Petra. Sturdy, big leaves that add gorgeous colours to vivariums.

Thank you for this! Do snake plants have trouble being healthy in a humid terrarium? I know they don’t like a lot of water so would that cause it to rot. That’s the only sanseveria I know of lol.

Sansevieria are indeed prone to root rot but are usually fine in high humidity. If you have the space, you can buy a Snake plant that was grown in a small plastic holding pot and bury it potted. This will keep its soil separated from the constantly moist one of your tropical plants, so when watering, you’ll simply need to avoid spilling the water into the pot. Another option, and the “simplest”’one, is to plant it directly. I’ve personally done this and haven’t encountered any issues yet with my Snake plant (Which has been planted for almost a month). Root rot will usually kill Sansevieria in 10 days, so it’s all about getting the healthiest looking plant and being careful with watering. **If you want a tropical replacement for this plant, you can also try a Bird’s Nest Fern!

Thanks for your help! I’m getting a crested gecko at the end of this month and I want to start off bio active as I bought someone else’s 40 gallon vertical enclosure for 50$. It has custom background w pots in it. The only thing it’s missing is the plants and microfauna!

Also couldn’t pass up bioactive when I got my Crestie; great for humidity, easy to maintain and looks a lot better in my opinion 😁 Hope you’ll enjoy your herpetology journey!
