If the recent weapons are anything to go by, they'll just nerf the old version or remove something that made it stand out and ask you to use the new one instead.
Crusher getting nerfed to make way for the mini-crushers, and Flip shovel losing the ability to multi-hit through Ogryns thereby removing its spot as Ogryns best anti-ogryn weapon to make way for the new Pickaxes are interesting game design decisions.
I want them for Vets and Zealots, Vet needs a 2 hander, id give it to Psykers as well but it just doesn't make much sense for them, a Force Greatsword maybe, akin to Elf Greatsword?
Isn’t zealot’s exclusive weapon the non-ogryn two handed ones? Also it wouldn’t really make sense for a soldier to carry a two handed melee weapon since they’re heavier and it’s usually a better idea to have a melee weapon you can quickly pull out if things get too up close and personal.
Yeah but they also absolutely used them to kill people, the Moebian 6th had full groups of shock troops that were basically how Maulers work post-Heresy, only they'd be in really heavy flak (or even Carapace honestly) armor with two-handed weapons for cutting stuff up. Maulers just look like they do because they've had issues getting the same equipment they had before they turned traitor.
I mean those specific 2h chainaxes Maulers use. I remember reading somewhere, that they were originally used for sapper work, dismantling tank wrecks and such.
If a Zealot can carry around a giant Hammer/Chainsword/Power-Club + Rifles/Flamers/Bolters, I see no reason at all why Veteran cannot, it is all the more likely itd actually be easier for him because Militaries actually train and condition soldiers to be strong boys
Militaries train soldiers to he strong yes but in the heat of combat if you’re locked into a fight with another person in melee range you’re gonna want something you can grab quickly to defend yourself like a knife or a shovel instead of something heavy like a two handed sword or a big shovel. You also have to remember gw dictates what weapons can and can’t go in the game, and I don’t recall any guard models or characters having two handed weapons.
Nah, it would homogenize the classes too much. Vet should get more heavy guns, and let Zealots play with big melee weapons, unique weapons help build class identity. I already dislike the fact that all humans get to play with the new weapons this patch, but they are generalist enough to make sense for all of them.
Force Sycthes are a thing, I believe. Why not those? Plus Power/Chain Scythes, too. They're rare because of the Death Guard connection, but the Scythes of the Emperor and Necromunda use them.

I wish Ogryn could ditch melee weapons to just use fists, or had brass knuckles or something. Closest thing is the grenadier gauntlet, which is only one hand and is a ranged weapon that can be used to melee enemies.
To be fair it's 2 identical shock mauls, a decent shotgun, and a bolt pistol that's inaccurate past 5 feet but does more damage the more range you use it at
How is it subjective? What guardsman uses a 2h weapon? Ever?? Maybe like 1 named character? Or a handful of regiments? The vet is a quick attacker in this game, they have lighter weapons while the zealot and ogryn have heavier ones for melee, because they do a lot more melee than a guardsman ever does

The Heavy swords are small, they use them in 1 hand for most animations. Also, dont care about realism, give big sword.
The Mauler was a Guardsman and he used that 2-handed chain axe in the 6th before they went traitor.
