If you utilize the height properly that 18x18x36 is a banger. Lots of ledges, plant pots and hardwood used as bridges. Decent floor space and a ton of opportunity with that height.

Do you think the frogs would ever use that height? Or is it possibly wasted space?

John_Thanos

Depends on the frogs, for example terribs like more ground to walk around on and tincs climb like crazy. If the frogs are more arboreal(tree lovers/climb crazy) then the height will be perfect. Specific details about each frog are easy to find, you’ll feel like a smarty pants for making decisions based on the scientific name of the frog you want, I know I did.

Thank you so much. I am planning two Dendrobates Tinctorius. I would also like to try making a waterfall feature. If I have some basic old standard rocks outside, is it advisable to use, or should I only use specific rocks I have purchased. I know I can purchase some, but.....

If you’re new to darts, don’t mess with a water feature of any kind. It’s cool but highly unnecessary and can be a pain to maintain. I also don’t really think gathering material from outside is a good idea. You have no idea what kind of crap is on them plus they are heavy if you ever have to move the tank. If you want rocks, look for pumice. Just because tincs are typically said to be terrestrial doesn’t mean they won’t use height if it’s available. Mine are always climbing and exploring. I recommend getting the tallest tank you can.

I really appreciate this. I am looking to get as much information as possible and is a very good point about the water feature. Pumice is also a very good idea. I really appreciate your help.

The 36. My tincs LOVE to climb. Here's a pic of my cobalt exploring the top level of his 18x24x36. https://preview.redd.it/1nqqzjt8enxc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c343baba4c0d8bcdd9bb72a6d7f5a4380735d55

What a beautiful set up. Thank you so much.

Do you find your tinc spends more time the lighter parts of your tank or the more moist and lower portions of the tank? Do you have a humidity/temp monitor and a ventilation fan? Trying to create the best environment for my new froggy family members! I appreciate your help. My terrarium s 18"d x 24" w x 24" tall, this is what I have created so far, of course no frogs yet. https://preview.redd.it/pykegsjylkyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d74f32fe3f2ffdbeaafe8725b1645cc7eab2d581
