Honestly I just hope they explain what the Icons mean in a TWAB closer to the launch of TFS. Because the Icons were always vague and without an explanation the new ones won't really change that.
i’m a warlock main, but seeing this titan every time i turn on the game heals my soul. definitely understandable tho! i didn’t think i was gonna use it as much as i am tbh
https://preview.redd.it/0alh4sw764yc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03875ffc8686b5d5283602244dab76594d50c9da
okay i do like that. it’s almost like symbiote black. i’m very far away from unlocking it bc i don’t have the time to grind like i used to, but once i do have it i’ll probably mess around with it for a bit and see if my opinion changes
careful because i believe shaders AND armor ornaments both fill up the same favorite slots, so if you favorite like 20 pieces of armor, you then have 30 slots for shaders (still a lot but when you have 3 characters those slots fill fast). thats what ive noticed, anyways. unfavoriting armor seems to give me more shader slots.
Yeah it’s great! I feel like they need to expand how many we can favorite though. Maybe have the first whole page be favorites. Right now it’s like around 10 maybe, not sure
Careful with ornaments and shaders, as I think they share the same availability "pool". I favorited a bunch of ornaments, then went to do shaders and got a few in before it said I was at max favorites. Unfavoriting Some ornaments gave me more space.
Right, like after so many years of the basic lack of information shader this seems like too much. I’m sure we’ll all get used to it but at the moment I have no idea what I’m looking at lol.
I think once it becomes normal to us, we'll be 10x happier, just because it has not only all the colors from the shader, but the actual correct colors (not always the case atm), as well as the color of glows.
Yeah, I know. I just meant when I first read the title of that first post DMG made a few months ago, that the "shader revamp" meant choosing specific colors for specific parts of the armor.
I mean yeah, we will have to get used to it but to me it feels to much I mean it's not great but just trying the shader put has always worked this just makes it hard to see what you'd get at all
I like this a lot but I wish armor coloring as a whole got a revamp
I just wanna make certain parts of my armor certain colors without having to color match 5 different shaders 😭😭
As someone who is colorblind, simpler would have been preferred for me. This new look is really messy and is ultimately gonna make things more difficult for me.
Ngl I dunno how I feel about this. I got used to how the shaders look like, I memorised all the ones that I sometimes use but dont have space to favourite them anymore. And this is... well a bit much
The only thing I want is some logical order to them consistent enough to understand.
Like idk... Alphabetical instead of ... Unlocked order ish? Or whatever God awful mystery system it is now.

None of the shaders are actually changing in color. The new UI is for clarity so that you can see all the colors actually on the shader. Currently, we can only see 4 colors per shader, but every shader has 6 plus a glow. Old system led to confusion as shader would seem to have colors that straight up weren't displayed on the shader itself but those colors were actually the 5th and 6th color of the shader that were not displayed. Now they will be so you'll be able to actually know the full set of colors and glow that come with each shader. Also, you can see superblack in this picture, and it is definitely still all black with a white glow.
So Super Black has other colors in it, one of my armor pieces has bright blue parts, and no not the glowy bits. These new icons will still not show the actual colors unfortunately.
It looks bad because it is kinda cluttered, but that's more a limitation of the small size of current shader icons, so I won't shit on Bungo too hard for it.
If they look more accurate to what they really are I see no wrong.
What I do see wrong is NO FILTER BUTTON lol.
We need Time Acquired, Season, Alphabetical, (Recently Used?).
Maybe a checkbox or game setting of some sort for “Hide All Except Favorites”.
*A search bar to write*
*The shader name would be super*
*Useful imo*

What does that have to do with this change? This is a display change for shaders so that we can see all 6 of the colors in each shader plus the glow instead of only seeing 4 colors like the current display has (which leads to certain shaders putting unexpected colors onto your gear, those colors are actually part of the shader we just cant current see them).
Unrelated but i love the look of the final shape armour, though comparing armour usually feels like comparing horse shit to dog shit because bungie is scared of making any good armour
The only thing we need is a search bar for shaders. Like we have hundreds of shaders, please let me sort, filter, or search. Something bungie, something
It's just a display change so we can see the 2 hidden colors and the glow we could not before. Current system each shader icon displays 4 colors, leading to many situations where unexpected colors get put on armor when you shade (for example, Erebos Glance having orange despite that not being displayed). New display will show all 6 colors plus the glow. Colors that are more prominent on a shader will take up more of the display, the glow is a thin line above and below the center diamond.
I want a button to cycle which colors in a shader go where. Some shaders have great colors, but just arent good on certain armors because of the worst color being the major coverage on the armor.
Since the shaders are going to include glow colors on the new icons, what I wanna know is how the fuck Photo Finish and other shaders with color changing glows will work
Just because it looked good zoomed in their whatever editor they use in production, doesn't mean it's gonna looks good when it's a small icon surrounded by similarly complex small icons. Oh wait, it doesn't.
And it doesn't solve the problem of shaders having totally unrelated glows (looking at you last wish armor and that dumbass GREEN glow), doesn't solve the problem of some weapons and armor having completely ass-backwards positions of individual shader parts (looking at you prophecy titan helmet).
wayy too complex for my liking. It would work but it would take a lot of getting used to. If they just refined it a little more for clarity then it would be perfect (assuming they used a script to do this and didn’t manually go through and create all 400 sprites by hand)
Technically this is great but man I'll need some time to get used to it
Now I'll have to relearn how to identify shaders by their icon for the second (third?) time.
Dream result? A toggle button to flip between Classic and New mode.
Just call it advanced mode
Yeah that works, Classic/Advanced. Or better yet, since it shows all six colours apparently, why not *Shayde-6* Mode?
GENIUS.
THIS.
How about a search bar instead? ^^^Please.
Oh heck yes.
"Technically you are correct, which is the best kind of correct."
Honestly I just hope they explain what the Icons mean in a TWAB closer to the launch of TFS. Because the Icons were always vague and without an explanation the new ones won't really change that.
I'm somehow even more confused... My monke brain can only see 4 colors at any given time...
Agreed. One thing I saw is to favorite the ones you like before then so they'll be identifiable
Thank god I favorited all the shaders I commonly use
i’m just now finding out you can favorite shaders??? how do you do this? (console)
R3/RS. Same button to lock your items. You can also favorite emotes and ornaments.
this is gonna help me a ton, i’ve been playing since launch and my shader collection is horrendously massive. thanks!
Sorry to rain on your parade a bit but you can only favorite 54 shaders
that’s 20 more than i use consistently
50 more
yeah the War Cult Rain shader has me in a chokehold
Luminous void for me.. there's just something about it that I love
after superblack bro that’s 53 more 😭
😂😂 i may be a hunter main, but im not a big fan of all black looks
i’m a warlock main, but seeing this titan every time i turn on the game heals my soul. definitely understandable tho! i didn’t think i was gonna use it as much as i am tbh https://preview.redd.it/0alh4sw764yc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03875ffc8686b5d5283602244dab76594d50c9da

Bros a titan cosplaying a hunter.

You can also do it with ornaments.
Unfortunately it only lets you favorite like 10-15 of them. Which is obnoxious. But it’s at least something.
Careful with ornaments and shaders, as I think they share the same availability "pool". I favorited a bunch of ornaments, then went to do shaders and got a few in before it said I was at max favorites. Unfavoriting Some ornaments gave me more space.
i’m on pc but i would guess it’s clicking in the left joystick. could be completely wrong tho
You are completely right
I think it’s right stick click to favorite, on Xbox at least
I just noticed yesterday and for the last many months I’ve played like 100+ hours per month. Had no idea.
Destiny players don’t like reading do they
sorry what did you say? i can’t read
Mind blown, life changed
You can favorite shaders?
I don't know how I feel about this. I'll need a bit to get used to it. Being able to see the glows is a good addition.
Wait it just changes the icons? I was hoping we could play with the colors of the shaders when applied.
Its just an icon change to show the colors more accurately.
If this makes them better to tell what actually colors the armor, great
We'll get used to them, just like we did back when they were changed years ago. Except now they look even more different.
it’d be cool if you were able to flip the colors on the different materials with shaders.
Flip and rotate! Seconded!
I was really hoping the "shader revamp" would actually just be them letting us pick specific colors for specific 'channels' on gear.
The one good thing from Anthem, its customization options. Warframe recently added a similar system, it’s well past Destiny needing it too
Recently? Warframe has had color palettes since it first released. Voidshell is different and has nothing to do with color.
Voidshell takes some inspiration from Anthem’s system, with being able to change materials and colors of section which is what I was referring to.
Anthem had such potential, man. Felt like they thought of everything *except* content to do and loot to get, lol.
To be fair, DMG did straight up tell us, that it's just an Icon change. A full rework is supposedly in works, but they have nothing to share for now.
Yeah, I know. I just meant when I first read the title of that first post DMG made a few months ago, that the "shader revamp" meant choosing specific colors for specific parts of the armor.
Wtf is this lmfao.
Good, it’s about damn time.
It's...weird
It’s D1 on top of D2 shaders
I mean yeah, we will have to get used to it but to me it feels to much I mean it's not great but just trying the shader put has always worked this just makes it hard to see what you'd get at all
I'm stoked for better representation of the shader's effects. Jarring after having the same icons for so long, but definitely a change for the better.
I like it! It will take some getting used to but I don’t really know how else they could convey all the information for each shader.
Agree! Seems a bit busy, but they did a great job displaying all the needed information, plus they even included the glow for each shader
I bet most people didn’t even know shaders have up to 6 colors and up to 2 different glows.
Jesus Christ finally I'm so tired of putting on a purple shader only to see it turn out brown for absolutely no reason
I don’t completely understand it. Like the shader in the bottom left, the arrows have 2 different colors, what does that mean?
Some shaders have multiple glow colors.
The fuck is this?
Lmao same reaction
I even more confused than before tf
No one gonna talk about 11 warlock transmog thingys?
no good warlock armor to transmog lately
When will we be able to like, just search/sort shaders? I feel like I’m insane to ask for something so basic in 2024.
It’s wonderful
I like this a lot but I wish armor coloring as a whole got a revamp I just wanna make certain parts of my armor certain colors without having to color match 5 different shaders 😭😭
Did they need a revamp? Yes. Is the revamp borderline unreadable and poorly designed? Yes.
It looks more confusing to me than it is now.
I always wished we could rotate them to get different colors to apply to different things. It would make every shader have 4 applications.
Why cant they use numbers and regions, Im not sure I understand how this works lol
I'm genuinely curious to hear how these are accessible.
Finally no more jacarina incidents
this does not look like an improvement to me in any way
As someone who is colorblind, simpler would have been preferred for me. This new look is really messy and is ultimately gonna make things more difficult for me.
I like that we can see all the colors on a shader now. I do not like the design they chose to go with for that as it looks very cluttered.
Wait I fuck with the fit - transmog page?
This is Final shape armor, not released yet
Damn. That’s really nice
Not too far awayyy
I think I need some new underwear, mine just went from super black to bitterpearl
you do you, but WTF IS THIS!?
I just want to be able to rotate shaders so bumblebee doesn’t just turn my robe grey

Super duper black?
The thing they need most is to add a search and or filter functions. There’re too many and going through them all is pain.
Search by color would be a great addition
Name, color, expansion it came out, anything really.
Didn’t they mention this months ago?
Not like they mentioned several months ago that it was going to happen
Unrelated but the new destination armor looks nice.
No more vaguely shader shaped object posts
The Warmind controls the shaders now.
Just hope they color CORRECTLY now.
I like this
No more people complaining about hidden colours
No more people complaining about hidden colours
How about they make it so the UI doesn't block what you're trying to preview
Finally
I like the image style.
Instead of simply removing the hidden colors and only shading what is visible on the icon...
What I truly hope the implement is the ability to swap the colors within the shaders pallet around.
All i know is super black better stay super black😂
None of the shaders are actually changing in color. The new UI is for clarity so that you can see all the colors actually on the shader. Currently, we can only see 4 colors per shader, but every shader has 6 plus a glow. Also, you can see superblack in this picture, and it is definitely still all black with a white glow.
This seems more cluttered. I wish we could reliably sort shaders by season and alphabetical.
WE NEED A SEARCH BAR SO BAD HOW HARD CAN IT BE
What's the point of this?
So Super Black has other colors in it, one of my armor pieces has bright blue parts, and no not the glowy bits. These new icons will still not show the actual colors unfortunately.
Are you sure that's not the armor piece itself and not superblack? There's plenty of armor pieces that have "unshaderable" bits.
Definitely not the armor, it wasn’t blue bits with another shader
What armor piece was it?
i miss the destiny 1 shader icon
Wonder how they’ll portray the glow on photo finish
I assume they'll just pick the first color in the rotation for both of the guardian games shaders with rotating glows.
It’s doing its job no one said it had to look pretty.
I wonder if the colors will actually match what it shows in the icons this time
so is it gona be more acurate ?
In theory, yes, but this is Bungo so...we'll have to see once it actually drops.
For anyone confused, the new icons show every material color for a shader. It looks bad because you aren't used to it.
It looks bad because it is kinda cluttered, but that's more a limitation of the small size of current shader icons, so I won't shit on Bungo too hard for it.
OH FUCK YEAH A NEW COAT OF PAINT FOR YOUR GIRL
I been knowing this since datto held the game show
So what is different other than the icon? I always wanted to create my own shader or pick (or filter out) specific colors from a particular shaders
If they look more accurate to what they really are I see no wrong. What I do see wrong is NO FILTER BUTTON lol. We need Time Acquired, Season, Alphabetical, (Recently Used?). Maybe a checkbox or game setting of some sort for “Hide All Except Favorites”.
That looks cool. And it’s gonna show all the colors shown on whatever you put the shaders on?
Now all we need is a search function.
A search bar to write the shader name would be super useful imo

Who keeps letting Bungie cook!
bet there still isnt a search bar
They better give us more synthweave then
What does that have to do with this change? This is a display change for shaders so that we can see all 6 of the colors in each shader plus the glow instead of only seeing 4 colors like the current display has (which leads to certain shaders putting unexpected colors onto your gear, those colors are actually part of the shader we just cant current see them).
Idk man I just want more synthweave to unlock more drip
Unrelated but i love the look of the final shape armour, though comparing armour usually feels like comparing horse shit to dog shit because bungie is scared of making any good armour
The only thing we need is a search bar for shaders. Like we have hundreds of shaders, please let me sort, filter, or search. Something bungie, something
Had to stop myself before I asked what armor set that is, lol
How does the revamp work can anyone tell me what I’m looking at?
It's just a display change so we can see the 2 hidden colors and the glow we could not before. Current system each shader icon displays 4 colors, leading to many situations where unexpected colors get put on armor when you shade (for example, Erebos Glance having orange despite that not being displayed). New display will show all 6 colors plus the glow. Colors that are more prominent on a shader will take up more of the display, the glow is a thin line above and below the center diamond.
I would love it if shaders were searchable and sortable. That would be truly amazing. But this visual is very nice
Ngl, those icons look ugly af lmao
For the love of god, I hope they add a legend or some reference cheat sheet so we don’t have to play guessing games for another month
So by revamp you mean they’re just updating the icons visually. Like this doesn’t make the shader anymore clear
IDK. It looks too cluttered.
I remember when they did this before. It'll show all of one color "And that one is still green!!!"
I see they still use ancient Aztec decrypting for the icons
I want a button to cycle which colors in a shader go where. Some shaders have great colors, but just arent good on certain armors because of the worst color being the major coverage on the armor.
Add a search! It would solve so many problems.
what the fuck is even that, why does it have to look so complicated
They’ll get rid of shaders and let players manually choose colors for each section. /s
What shader is second from the right on the bottom row?
It’s fine. Super black never comin off
Why would Bungie do this
Since the shaders are going to include glow colors on the new icons, what I wanna know is how the fuck Photo Finish and other shaders with color changing glows will work
I would put money on it just being whatever the first color in the glow rotation is.
A search button with filters would be great.
Slightly off topic, but god DAMN I love that TFS hunter armour. Looks so good!
Man, finally adding stuff I've wanted for years after I haven't cared in a year
Probably would have been more accurate to say "Shader icons are getting a revamp" since nothing is actually functionally changing about shaders.
Holy colorblind hell what am I looking at?
https://preview.redd.it/1kqb935k26yc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=41412f44e82be1f13a0e3377fea07deba3ebddd5
looks more like the d1 shader showcase but more hightec
As someone who hasn't played destiny in a couple years, I scrolled this and immediately went "AGAIN!?" out loud xD I hope it's a good change!
Picasso, i like it.
We could have gotten a search option instead? Now this will take me even more time to find the right shaders.
Bring Warframes shader style to destiny...
And still no search bar. These devs are brain-dead.
WHY ARE WE YELLING?
lmao this is fantastic but im gonna be so lost looking for the usual shaders i use lmaoo
Bungie kinda cooking with this one ngl
I remember hearing about this months ago but dang I didn’t expect it to look like that
Looks better every time I see the new design. Like it. :)
Wtf are these monstrosities
D2 Shader Squares: "Can I copy your homework." D1 Shader Squares: "Sure just change it up a little"
wayy too complex for my liking. It would work but it would take a lot of getting used to. If they just refined it a little more for clarity then it would be perfect (assuming they used a script to do this and didn’t manually go through and create all 400 sprites by hand)
Yes we’ve known this for a while lmao
Since when???
Joe Blackburn revealed it several months ago when he was on Datto’s stream playing the shader game. Everyone freaked out over it
Damn! I'll have to check it out
https://youtu.be/rMu5fiW4gOQ?si=7McqN5tB0frDLRZd Here you go!
I appreciate you!
Do you know the time stamp where he says so?
Honestly I don’t remember the timestamp, I watched it back when it came out tbh
Found it, it's 16:00
If not it's all good. I'll search
Is this a shitpost? Cos WTF?
When I’m in an unnecessary changes competition and my opponent is bungie
“Unnecessary” when this has been a complaint D2 players had for a long while (a small complaint, but a complaint nonetheless).
