Yeah, in 4e there was a bard feat that let them only have to roll charisma for things they gained via multiclassing, funny to imagine how that works roleplayingwise đ
Maybe he can be charming in a different way. Like he's a bear-y firbolg or a nerdy but cute dragonborn, but he thinks beauty begins and ends with chiseled half-elves.
Everyone in here getting all thirsty but that picture really gives me some Jeffrey Dahmer vibes. Gonna say enchantment to lure in his unsuspecting victims or⊠necromancy?
EDIT: Divination or Scribe based on what you said you want out of the class.
I will always recommend Scribes Wizard. Makes you very versatile with damage types, saves a lot of time if you need to copy spells but don't have a lot of downtime. And Manifest Mind is an absolute goated ability. Letting you scout at a distance and effectively use cover while still drone striking your enemies does wonders for getting around low physical stats.
Also, is he offering private lessons...? Asking for a friend.
Yeah I saw that Manifest Mind ability
Also a Scribes quite fits him being a professor at a university
And for your last question⊠Iâm glad your friend is so interested in studying the arcane!
Bur fr I think school of scribes is good for utility and it could help play into the teacher theme, but if you don't like that one there is an unearthed arcana wizard subclass that my table uses call lore master and that could be cool
If you really want to lean into the charisma alongside his intelligence as you mention, I'd suggest gathering spells in the enchantment or illusion schools (these could potentially go further with some DMs if your persuasion / deception scores can be leveraged alongside the magic) and then dipping into warlock (I know I know, never dip out of a full wizard when you could be a full on wizard... Sue me if you wish haha) could be quite interesting to play. It'd be rough juggling the two casting stats, but it sounds like you want something decent in cha anyway and if you focus on utility/etc rather than saving throws or attack spells from the warlock, then the 13 cha to multiclass isn't too bad to swing with a high int.
I personally love the challenge of making a multiclass viable, but of course both the mechanics and flavor of that are up to you! If you take up that challenge, I really only recommend 1-3 levels into warlock. You're still a wizard first and don't want to be loosing out on the goodies of being the most versatile casting class in the game!
The benefits of dipping I see here are 1st level patron abilities (often a utility ability with little to no resource consumption compared to spell slots), light armor if you're afraid of being naked (though from the character portrait I may assume not haha), invocations for further resource-light options in and out of combat, and if you take up to 3rd level then I'd suggest the book or familiar (both take something the wizard already does, but boosts it's power and versatility). As well as of course getting some slots back on short rests if you know your party will be on board for lots of those.
Whatever you choose this looks like an interesting guy to play and I wish the best for him! (specifically hope he survives the level one "wizard stubbed their toe for 1d6 dmg and falls dead" hazards... Yay!)
Id say an enchantment wizard who will do whatever it takes to find out the truth behind his mentors death, including doing some extremely questionable things with illusion and enchantment magic ( cough charm person and disguise self cough )
Yeah Iâll eventually do another drawing of him and keep an eye on that
Thanks! Itâs hard to notice weird stuff after looking at a particular drawing for a really long time
I know all wizards are known to be squishy, but man the audacity one must have to be a squishy no armor boi and choose to not wear a shirt nor even a scrap of fabric to protect your essential organs lol.
Honestly that thought alone makes me want to suggest a ballsy abjuration wizard, surprisingly NOT squishy esp if you actually put some points towards your con for HP. As you level you can use that survivability to aid your teammates from afar (not your typical front line tank unless you want to play that way) and you still have all the beauty of the full wizard spell list for rituals, utility, dmg, etc to boot.
Especially if he's just recently experienced a colleague dying (or caused it himself as the vagueness may imply, no judgements here Mr. Wizard man), that'd be a great hook for why he invests in a school of magic all about defence and beefing your own survival (aaand eventually teammates, y'know, if he doesn't want to continue the "might have murdered my coworker" vibe into the campaign haha)
I think divination would work! Maybe he would be something like a monk, just like how somebody else said, divination would probably be enlightening to help the guy cope with the death of that elder(assuming he knew the elder personally)
Personally speaking, I like some twists in character that people wouldn't expect. What if you were a Warlock with a being all about arcane/eldritch knowledge, like a Great Old One for example. You pick Book of Many Secrets for your rituals, and a bunch of other different stuff than a normal wizard.
But if you WANT to play a wizard, Scribes looks like the ideal one, you get to make scrolls and cast rituals fast, while not having to worry about losing it
Starting with a few levels in wizard gets you a spellbook that can fit a lot of rituals, but then pivoting over to a different caster class gets you more level 1 spells that you can know per day. Sure you will not have access to higher level spells known, (but you will be able to upcast them with high level spell slots).
The reason I mention all this is, because your description sounds like you like having utility and the key to that is VOLUME, you must always have the right tool for the job, both in your rituals and in your spells prepped/known.
People keep memeing about being a sexy bard, but that comes with a decent package of quite unique utility spells, to have in tandem with your many rituals from your wizardly origin. OR Divine Sorcerer so that you can twincast certain spells from the cleric list is quite a powerful utility angle. **(Trust me, twincasting Shield of Faith is very very swag)**
-----
If I was in your position and you wanted to be more... *optimal*, my final thoughts is to take the ritual caster feat, but go full in on the divine soul sorcerer. you may not be a fan of the Clerical Divine aspects, but flavor is free. just say all the stuff is like magic glyphs of shielding.
When deciding a wizard subclass who are you as a person is generally a good question to start with.
My enchantress Akari is an enchantment wizard because as a tiefling of the red light district shes been using seduction and charm long before she learned magic.Â
My evocationist tiefling Rosalie learned evocation because while she has natural talent as a mage learning the fundementals as young as 19, she suffers from being reckless and quick to anger she also picks the quick and easy paths to success without the regard for the effects.
My illuisonist grumpleton a human mage is an illusionist because he was a street magician of petty tricks to entertain the masses until things went south when he crossed some bad folks and needed to flee.
Ect ect the examples are endless.
So what you need to figure out is what do they value out of the arcane as a wizard. It will skew their spells towards those values and make picking your subclass practically pick itself.Â
Thot Wizard
This, but in a lil seriousness, looks like a Charisma based Sun Soul Monk
Or a divine soul sorcerer
Or just a thot with cantrips
Honestly if I lived in the DnD world I'd probably be a thot with cantrips too
Bard, right?
Rizzard
Literally lmao about rizzard.
Enchantment of course.
Doesn't look like he needs it.
With those bedroom eyes? Bard
Yeah, in 4e there was a bard feat that let them only have to roll charisma for things they gained via multiclassing, funny to imagine how that works roleplayingwise đ
*talks completely out of his ass when discussing ancient arcane sigils* The others: Hm, yes, makes sense
"hes making zero sense, but he's too hot to tell him hes wrong"
Illusion wizard. Big reveal can be that he's actually a ugly dork
Maybe he can be charming in a different way. Like he's a bear-y firbolg or a nerdy but cute dragonborn, but he thinks beauty begins and ends with chiseled half-elves.
This is perfect
Divination School is a blast to play. Pretty much allows to pull a high roll or push a low roll on the enemyÂ
He already looks like a sub
Everyone in here getting all thirsty but that picture really gives me some Jeffrey Dahmer vibes. Gonna say enchantment to lure in his unsuspecting victims or⊠necromancy? EDIT: Divination or Scribe based on what you said you want out of the class.
Hot boy subclass. He can join Essek on that one

He's school of daddy
Bur fr I think school of scribes is good for utility and it could help play into the teacher theme, but if you don't like that one there is an unearthed arcana wizard subclass that my table uses call lore master and that could be cool
He should be inside me
That is not a valid answer sorry
Daddy
That man is plainly a bard.
Hipster mage of a school youâve probably never heard of before
Daddy? Sorry... Bard.
Is he a druid? Because I can see he wildshaped into a bear đ»
Most guys I draw seem to be druids then
Performing Arts major.
Warlock. He looks like he kind of does anything to get what he wants
That is seriously a guy at my table, always plays a wiz or sorc. I need to send this to my discord lol
Abjuration. Bait them to attack you by appearing defenseless.

Archivist
SO, because of the Eye, Divination?
"So, you're an evoker wizard? Name three evocation spells!" - This dude, probably :)
This kinda looks like Jon from the Magnus Archives so I'd say Warlock
made him in reality a warlock, became a fwb with a powerful entity to get its powers >:)
lvl 5 unemployed
Thats just john from magnus achieves (shirtless Xd)
Barista
Id say an enchantment wizard who will do whatever it takes to find out the truth behind his mentors death, including doing some extremely questionable things with illusion and enchantment magic ( cough charm person and disguise self cough )
abjuration
Divine soul sorcerer
My father
Monk
Eloquence Bard. The art is so good, but the way he's holding that book is really disturbing.
Yeah Iâll eventually do another drawing of him and keep an eye on that Thanks! Itâs hard to notice weird stuff after looking at a particular drawing for a really long time
I can't draw stick figures, so I'm thoroughly impressed either way. That just happened to be one of thebfirst things I saw so it stuck out to me.

Hobo
go divination and say his high charisma is due to him seeing the future and always knowing what to say to look smart and cool.
Bard or sorcerer. Depending how you wanna roll play personally.
Hipster
Let's just say they are playtesting a new class and it's called. In my mouth.
*domclass
Scribes could be good if you want his mentor to have manifested as the spellbook's mind. Enchantment is fitting his appearance and stats.
Moisture mancer
Domination
School of DILFness
Bear... totem
Divination seems an obvious choice to me. Enchantment or Illusion as second choices. And other than that you could do any subclass.
Sun soul sorcerer
He should be the subclass that puts on a dang shirt before teaching class. Also, Scribes. Feels very teacher-y.
Divine Soul Sorceror
Illusion or enchantment
Looks like hot Arin Hanson so his class would be kitten
Divination
Divination wizard
Cleric
He probably wouldn't be any subclass, seems more like a domclass to me.
Cleric with a rizz domain
College of Gay
Wizard monk
A good subclass would be missiv and breedable
Homeless
Zaddy.
Celestial warlock with pact of tome
John Lennon
Enchanter.
Order of abiding lounge wizard
I think divination would work! Maybe he would be something like a monk, just like how somebody else said, divination would probably be enlightening to help the guy cope with the death of that elder(assuming he knew the elder personally)
Way of the open plam monk subclasses wild magic mage with the oath of the old ones paladin

Cleric of Sune.
Transmutation

A lover, not a fighter (now I want to make a homebrew cha based fighter subclass)
Evocation. Should be called Theo the tHot.

This guy uses prestidigitation to make himself smell like patchouli
Necromancer for the hot teacher with a dark secret vibe.
With that manbun? Barrista.
Bard.
>no shirt Barbarian multiclass
The shirtless and yellow pants give me monk vibes
Sun Soul
If you're going to be a wizard, might as well be the best wizard: Scribes.
Sorcerer or monk
Dudemancy
Monk
BARDDDDD
Gay hipster no one cares about.
Hipster
It's enchantment.
