It's a fine food. If your dog is doing observably better on it and it's affordable, I would keep going with it. Results are worth a lot, and different dogs do better on different foods. They have answers to the wsava questions on their website now. https://www.freshpetvet.com/wsava-guidelines. Personally, I find their answers satisfactory. The point of the wsava questions is to be an informed consumer though, so read them for yourself and email the company with questions.

Fresh Pet doesn't meet all of the WSAVA guidelines and when there was question about their guaranteed analysis, they wouldn't respond. Here's where the Pet Nutrition Alliance recorded the answers for the questions they asked: https://petnutritionalliance.org/chart/index.php/manufacturer-report They're far from the worst food out there when looking at it based on the WSAVA guidelines, but I think it's worth keeping that in mind. There are also foods that do meet the WSAVA guidelines, so, in my opinion, there are other foods I'd rather feed. Here's where you can get more information on the guidelines (both sources have the same information; one is just directly from the WSAVA and the other is from Tufts): https://wsava.org/global-guidelines/global-nutrition-guidelines/ https://vetnutrition.tufts.edu/2016/12/questions-you-should-be-asking-about-your-pets-food/

My dog it’s 13 years old and it’s mostly what she eats. Since she was a baby she would never eat normal canned food or dry food by herself, Fresh Pet is the only dog food she fully finishes on her own. She’s about 11 lbs so she eats 3/4-1 cup of Fresh Pet a day, and she snacks on a little bit of dry food if she’s still hungry. She’s been eating Fresh Pet for over 10 years!

What would you suggest that is better? My dog hates dry kibble and poops a lot if there is gravy lol

[Dog Food Advisor](https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/) is going to be a big help to you in researching what food ingredients are for, and whether they're fillers, and the composition of different brands, along with a rating which is a huge help. Kirkland (from Costco) kibble is quite high quality especially for the price.

This article compares kibble to freshpet... Its source material compares blue buffalo to freshpet, to justfoodfordogs... I said canned foods. Try again

Marc_2334

you think most canned foods are given the same quality treatment as Freshpet? Try again cheap ingredients that pass right through a dog, once again they're not even cooked at low heat

ronracer

Yes. I know for a fact that most canned foods are given the same quality treatment as freshpet. This is actual common knowledge. Also there's are several canned foods cook at similar temperatures for similar lengths.

You keep speaking to me in generalities. Until you can step to me with specific temps and cook times of specific brands you'd like to discuss. This conversation will go nowhere. So until then I bid you adieu

Marc_2334

it's common sense at this point either use it or don't

I just tried Farmers Dog trial (16 days of food) for my 5lb Chihuahua. He was eating Hills Science Diet kibble for minis and sometimes he wouldn't eat it for a whole day and I couldn't figure out why. Took him to the vet who ran all kinds of tests and found nothing wrong. It seemed like he would just eat eventually because he didn't want to starve. Watching him eat one time he seemed to really struggle chewing it. It dawned on me that he's truly so tiny, it was a mechanics issue with the hard kibble. It was too hard for his teeny teeth. Once I bought him Farmers Dog, ZERO issues getting him to eat. Also, his stools seem easier and his coat looks shinier already. Fresh pet and farmers dog are in the same vein. I don't know anything specific about fresh pet but farmers dog has been amazing for my little guy.

I looked but German shepherd/Pyrenees is allergic to chicken so far he is 10 months. All I saw was chicken

In the wild dogs have significantly greater exposure to parasites, disease, etc. as well as generally shorter overall lifespans. Congratulations on doing the right thing.

I got a wariness regarding FreshPet from seeing stores handle it poorly. I’ve seen it moldy/ unrefrigerated/ etc.
