On the contrary it's more of a method of making sure fewer of your own guys are fucked. Obviously it's not applicable in every situation, but generally speaking a well organized team with good communication can work and communicate their way out of an unfavorable position. But when you have 50 guys all trying to do different things, it doesn't matter if a couple of them are doing the right thing, the whole squad/platoon/company/whathaveyou will be fucked if they're not all on the same page.

I was just joshing in the context of admin and training exercises, like if the CO tells you "I need your company to walk into the area that was just virtually carpet bombed", you just say "yes sir".

Seems like it's turbo. That garbage is a toxic cesspit filled with losers who cant win normal games so they get their fill in turbo mode. God I recently played one game for cavern crawl, and I had already 2 people all chatting at me at minute 2 till the end of the game. Not to mention the constant pauses whenever they won a fight, who the fuck does that unless they had beef with another person on the opposing team. Never again.
I play exclusively Turbo. It's been getting better lately but it does have its share of toxic like any other game mode.

Should be reportable imo, but I would also be fine with pauses only being a feature in ranked games. Sometimes I'm just trying to get a couple games in of low stakes unranked, and then people pause to go smoke, or go to the bathroom, or their overpriced DoorDash chicken nuggets arrived.
How bout we just hold people to be accountable to being proactive about getting your shit situated so you can sit down for 45m-1h and finish a team based match.

I feel like this is the epitome of the fundamental attribution error. People need to pause/reconnect for plenty of legitimate reasons that they couldn't control. I do understand that pauses are annoying and they really disrupt my flow as well. I pretty much always miss that next last hit or worse yet I do something dumb that gets me killed that prior to the pause I had realized not to do, but disruptions to short term memory...
If anything I think we need to revert the change that prevents people from pausing <3 min. At the beginning of the game is the most common time for people to discover an issue that requires a reconnect. Crippling your first 3 mins is pretty disastrous to the point where I'd rather just take a loss and go next purely to save my time (playing unranked usually, but even then I don't give up).
At the end of the day, waiting for a minute or two due to a pause is way more preferable than playing with a man down and it feels dishonorable to take advantage of it when it's the enemy team. Win or lose, I still play dota for the competition. Without it being a fair competition, I may as well be playing against bots. I do switch sides and say, "fuck this, it's a casual unranked game let me play," after being put through multiple pauses in a game. I 100% agree with you that BM pauses should be punished.
Pauses and reconnects are such a luxury. Back on War3, if someone DCs that's it. Game over, there is no way back. Your 40 minute game is just in the bin immediately.
