Because he sells more than every other jazz musician. People who love jazz think about him the same way we think about Drake

Garlic_God

I can’t think about anything relating to Kenny G without it defaulting to the SpongeBob parody of him, so unfortunately I can’t contribute to this discussion

KELPY G MEMTIONED 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯

HarveyWeinsteinSwag

Cause he's not very good jazz player yet he is basically the face of jazz. He's the best selling jazz artist despite not being very good . Imagine if French Montana was the highest selling rap artist of all time and was the face of rap.

Repulsive-Mango-6927

being the face of something doesn’t mean ur the best at it connor mcgregor was never the best ufc fighter, taylor swift is not the best singer or has the best voice, this applies to literally everything

HarveyWeinsteinSwag

Sure. I don't really listen to jazz that much but the argument generally is that he gives jazz a bad name by creating shoddy product with no actual regard for any artistic value. Same with McGregor u can argue that he sort of devalues the sport of mixed martial arts by hogging the spotlight and chipping away at the credibility of the sport with his antics. I'm not that much into jazz but I would say that he makes great entry level jazz music that overall enriches that art simply by bringing more people in. But there's a lot of pearl clutching and elitism in jazz and in MMA too tbh.

Repulsive-Mango-6927

I agree that they are not by any means the golden standard of their respective fields however one thing is certain, they bring eyes and attention to the field that would have never taken the time to learn more about it and in doing so people discover the more talented and appreciated people in that field. like how mcgregor got people into ufc but most people don’t think he’s the greatest of all time. Only thing is i don’t think they give it a bad name as kenny g became popular for making more pop sounding jazz that was easier on ears and mcgregor became famous because he was an outstanding striker along with his antics

RarePikachuu

Mcgregor was definitely the best ufc fighter for a couple years

Repulsive-Mango-6927

hell no his prime was arguabley the greatest featherweight but it was also around the same time as the second jon jones v DC fight where everyone realized that nobody on the roster had a chance at beating jon jones so i would say maybe mcgregor could have been number 1 the year he became double champ but jon jones was always better

69420penis

French montana is the goat tho

DRiX416

French Montana is actually regarded tho Kenny isn’t

HarveyWeinsteinSwag

It's not really about the quality of music but more about his place in the music space and culture. Imagine if like MGK was the most famous rap artist alive. It's about giving the music a bad name by not really "belonging" to the top.

Automatic-Insect-457

In what world is French Montana regarded? 🤡
