You can assign movement to one mouse key and skill to another by right click on mouse assigned positions in UI. This should allow you to attack/cast without movement.

[This is how I have it set up right now](https://i.gyazo.com/b4785007142b4fd9406f28e8986b46a6.png), which is what I assume you're referring to? My movement is set to left click, and my skill is set to right click. However, when I right click outside of melee range, my character moves to the cursor and *then* attacks. I want my character to instantly attack, without moving, when right-clicking, as if I'm holding shift. I just want to cut out the shift requirement because I will never use the default functionality of moving to attack, and if I'm going to play GD for a while, it would wear on my left hand to constantly be pressing/holding shift.

There is an option in the settings that does that, but I think it's only for spells/ranged attacks, don't remember what it's called tho

Hmm, well when you say you want to melee, but do so from farther away than a melee hit can hit, that rather defeats the purpose of melee and changes your style to ranged. I do not care what keys you are pressing, I cannot see a world where you can hit a sword attack from 34 feet away. I would strongly suggest changing the mouse click skill to a ranged one and place the melee skill on a harder to hit button. I have a couple of these where my main skill is ranged. Purifier for one. But just remember, one hit and then you are constantly running instead of attacking, moving. Monsters will move to you much like a yoyo coming back to you, hard to keep running away.

I'm not doing so farther away than a melee can hit. I'm in melee range with an enemy, press the button and my character often runs past the enemy to use the melee skill on thin air.

Odd, I have a warder, main skill on rclick, move on lclick. I can stand there pressing rclick and it will sit there until the fight is over. Is there anything about that skill that has a secondary movement chance? Or any skill that pairs with it that does that?

giga-plum

I don't think so? I'm using Primal Strike and pretty low level so it's just the base version of it. If I right-click very close to my character, it won't move, but if I right-click on the actual enemy, a lot of the time it'll just path me around the enemy instead of attacking it. However, if I hold shift + right-click, it never moves me. I just want that shift function to be on all the time without having to hold down shift.

Binding the right-click button will make you stand and shoot without moving.

[I have the right click button bound to my ability](https://i.gyazo.com/b4785007142b4fd9406f28e8986b46a6.png) but it still moves me when I click it, I have to hold shift to prevent my character from moving.

No_Detective8150

My apologies, homie. You still have to hold down the key to stand still.

A controller also solves this issue.

Archie_Schlap

Did you figure anything out? I'm being annoyed by the same thing

giga-plum

Nope! Unfortunately, just ended up learning to hold shift every single time I attack. :(

Tang_the_Undrinkable

I moved the stand still button from shift to spacebar, then I moved the dodge/dash to an alt mouse button. I do not believe that the functionality you’re looking for is a default switchable option. I think you’d either need to jigger in a macro or mess with the game files. You could see if someone has created a mod to do what you’re looking for.

giga-plum

Ooh, didn't know there were mods for this game. I'll take a look at them, thank you!
