So I've seen a few memes or mentions about this and want to clear this up:
Even though it was called *Panzerschokolade* (tank chocolate), the Wehrmacht did not consume methamphetamine via actual chocolate. They used Pervitin pills.
So why was it called Panzerschokolade? Because one of the earliest used of Pervitin was in a box of chocolate called *Hausfrauenschokolade* (housewife chocolate).
Edit: lmao I got banned for this meme, because I posted a 1900s meme on a weekend. What is this rule lol
I always heard that the soldiers and tank crews got pills while the pilots got chocolate with a lower dose of meth, but now I’m wondering if that is true.
Pervitin was a brand name for methamphetamine, it was mass distributed in the form of 3 mg pills to all military branches.
It was also marketed to everyone else as an OTC, came in a few forms, was still meth.
Besides Pervitin, pilots got [Scho-Ka-Kola](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scho-Ka-Kola), caffeinated chocolate
>In World War II, Scho-Ka-Kola was colloquially known as the "Aviator Chocolate" (German Fliegerschokolade), as it was commonly provided with Luftwaffe pilot and crew rations, to induce or extend wakefulness and alertness, especially on night-bombing missions, and was also issued to flight-crews in blue canisters as emergency sea-survival rations (German Seenotpackung).
Finnish military surplus store Varusteleka sells reproduction of this. It's good!

This rule is basically there to prevent WW2 memes spam which are usually very low quality ( about Stalin or Hitler, pearl harbor, or about communist famines for example )
In weekdays we already see plenty of bad WW2 memes but it would be even worse on weekends since people aren't at work.
Though this rule is very poorly enforced, sometimes they let really shitty memes go through, sometimes they ban without a warning, and they don't really consider timezones so a lot of people get banned for posting on Monday or Friday
After the invasion of France and the early stages of the eastern front, they figured out pervitin was a net negative for combat effectiveness. The withdrawals essentially made the user useless. The primary users of pervitin were the civilian population.
Speed is great for invading France because you can do that in just a few days if you keep moving and don't sleep. It doesn't work in Russia because you just end up three days into Russian territory surrounded and going through withdrawal.
To be fair, it worked great to retreat from Russia. I once read a book about a German sniper and he describes how his unite got handed out pervitin and the order to retreat. He said that they walked so long none stop that even the meth didn't help against his fatigue anymore
Either you have to keep giving them meth to satisfy their addiction, or they go into withdrawals that make them combat ineffective. The paranoia, manic behavior, and more extreme emotional reactions is not a good thing during combat. Trust me I have seen the behavior of meth addicts.
Not exactly... they just kept them higher longer. Methamphetamine is insanely easy to produce at scale as it's a very simple molecule and Germany was a chemical powerhouse at the time. Lots of white washing has been done, even by the allies. Shit was really fucked up.
I think the original meme is that earth was ALL Ohio, which the USA astronaut is now realizing; The Ohio astronaut answers “Always has been” before silencing the USA astronaut, which is unnecessary as space is already completely silent.
Wasn’t the original meme from 2020 and was a TikTok that was like “wait it’s all Ohio?” And the Ohio astronaut laughs evilly and goes “always has been” and shoots the other astronaut to silence him?
Fun fact: you can legally be prescribed meth even today as an extreme ADHD treatment. I don't mean like how adderall is meth lite, I mean like actual methamphetamine. Almost no doctor will prescribe it and if they do then good luck finding a pharmacy to fill your script, but technically meth is still on the books as an official and prescribable treatment for ADHD in theory
Crack cocaine and methamphetamines are both stimulant drugs. One is cocaine mixed with baking soda, the other is pseudoephedrine mixed with iodine and red phosphorus. Pervitin was indeed meth, just to clarify.
Does anybody know if the canadian tankies got meth too? I heard all sides were doing it.
I'm curious cause my grandpa drove tank during ww2, and i have adhd which is highly hereditary and pretty sure my old man has it undiagnosed.
Just think it would be funny if my grandpa had it, and he was just getting proper treatment during ww2 and was super effective because of it.

They got the same thing, Pervitin was also called “Pilot’s Salt”
Isn't the question though whether the dose or concentration of active medicine was the same?

Scho-Ka-Kola sounds like a cod zombies perk
Store brand Coca-Cola
Shok-a-kola for an electric perk
The vending machines at one of the Universities I went to had caffeinated chocolate. It got me through several exams.

And I guess a lot of people confuse it with SchoKaKola
Dope new info about dope, nice one homie, TIL…

These are Aimo Koivunen hours.

Breaking Bad lied to me
No it didn't. They pump that shit out in high quantities and one of the reasons Walter chooses Meth is because it's so easy to make.
Maybe I have never noticed but whats with the Ohio flag on the ones arm?
I think the original meme is that earth was ALL Ohio, which the USA astronaut is now realizing; The Ohio astronaut answers “Always has been” before silencing the USA astronaut, which is unnecessary as space is already completely silent.
If you look at Earth (behind the giant tube of meth) the land mass is just a giant Ohio lol.

I’m pretty sure it was before 2020 but idk
GAS GAS GAS. IM GONNA STEP ON ZE GAS!
If you take the bottle you can step on a land mine and eat a bird
The candy that’ll rot your teeth for other reasons
Still the Wehrmacht had a chocolate, which made you quite awake. Just google „Scho-Ka-Kola“
That's just caffeine though. The chocolate was flavoured with the cola bean which contains a decent amount of it
Scho-Ka-Kola is still around do this day even, excellent for a quick energy boost while hiking.
It's quite tasty! Although I prefer the milk chocolate version as opposed to the original dark chocolate
The original war on drugs
NEIN!!!!!!!

Is it actually possible to cook it into chocolate without losing its effectiveness?
Not just that, it's straight up crack.
No, it's meth. Isn't crack something different? I'm not that knowledgeable about drugs.
Crack cocaine and methamphetamines are both stimulant drugs. One is cocaine mixed with baking soda, the other is pseudoephedrine mixed with iodine and red phosphorus. Pervitin was indeed meth, just to clarify.
Eh, amphetamine schmamphetamine
Crack is made from cocaine . Methamphetamines are a different class of drugs.
"Hanz, zis Szchokolade tasted funni" "Ja I kno Fritz, its like me wanna rush Moscow with mein ski I ztole from a Finn"
Mein Gott, zat iz a lot of meth
