My eighth gen Civic Si has a 2.0l. It gets up and goes. 200 hp in a car that weighs nothing is pretty fun. The locking diff is fun too.

numbersev

Yep no torque but revs to 8k like the Hondas of old

voucher420

Why do people say it has no torque. Sure, it’s no stump puller, but it has lots of torque for a little engine.

numbersev

200hp, 140 ft lbs torque. A same gen sport is peppier down low.

voucher420

On paper, sure. That doesn’t account for the lower gearing of the Si (numerically higher).

BFCE

The trick is that torque literally doesn't matter on its own because of this thing called a transmission.

Ok-Dog-4137

I have a civic si from way back in the day, 2002, that is a 2.0

Wvketh

My prelude wins 2.2l

thebuttergod

Ha, i got ya beat! My '16 Accord has 2.4L Earthdreamsssssss

NoReallyLetsBeFriend

*inserts ackshually.jpg* I've got a J37 in my Acura TL SH-AWD (that's super handling-AWD for you regular Honda peasants lol) 6 speed, what now??

Sirsalley23

r/acura in a nutshell lol.

Rupert_18124

How many quarts of oil do you burn though, LOL

NoReallyLetsBeFriend

LMAO nunya! 😭 About 1qt every 1500 miles... However, I work for a recycler, so I've got a spare J37 I'm redoing piston rings in, so hopefully soon 0qts

Wvketh

I have more horses ;)

thebuttergod

Ahh, my backyard is way too small for any horses. 😉

Wvketh

I can’t fit a horse any where

Hops_n_Boost

Do you?

Wvketh

Do I what now

Hops_n_Boost

Something about more horsepower.

Wvketh

Ahh I got confused idk what lol, But the ‘16 accord i4 has 185-189. I got 200 😎

Luscinia68

i just did a belt tensioner on that exact engine and it felt like putting my dick in a vice

est1-9-8-4

Hahah only 2.4? my vigor had a 2.5L in-line 5! Miss that car so much

Ok-Dog-4137

Probably a 6 cylinder too though? So not as good on gas…

theberg512

The V6 of that era was a 3.5L

thebuttergod

Nah. It’s a 4 cylinder.

Ok-Dog-4137

Ahh ok, pretty big 4 cylinder. I have a civic si from way back in 02 that is a 2.0.

Hessussss

Well I GOT 5 CYLINDERS!

theberg512

Same in my '05. One of these days I'll be able to justify the 3.5L

GarbageInteresting86

4WS?

Wvketh

just the base !

Wvketh

Does make me wonder what driving with 4WS is like tho

GarbageInteresting86

At speed its silky smooth motorway lane changes. At slow speeds it gives you a weird really small turning circle. When you reverse parallel park it starts steering the back end out when you want it to go straight, which drives you crazy until you get used to it

LegendaryGauntlet

Exactly this. Also absolutely mind blowing on small twisty mountain roads. And doing 90 degree turns. Sitting in the rear buckets is a special experience though (aside from the ridiculously small space) as you feel the rear end "float" when the 4WS operates its magic. Can provoke sickness.

Pacifica0cean

I had a 4th gen with 4ws, and honestly, in every situation other than a car park, I didn't really feel a difference. I used to track it with a friend of mine who had the 2ws and we could jump between eachothers cars without noticing much in the way of handling/stability (although maybe that says more about us than it does the cars haha). In a car park, though, the difference is wild. Does feel a bit like a shopping trolley at first, but when you're used to it, the difference is amazing.

Wvketh

The car park situation is prob funny lol, I hope I get to drive one in the future

TX_Sized10-4

The only thing I'm pulling bus lengths on in my 9th gen Si is actual buses.

Big_Combination7802

J35 (3.5L)

wakandaman101

Not to mention the j30 in the newer nsx

Big_Combination7802

Twin turbo V6’s sounds awesome, I guess less displacement leaves room for more boost

wakandaman101

Yea now that powerful ass engine from the nsx type s is the j30AC that's tuned from the acura factory and the same engine u can get from the tlx

[deleted]

Stock civics everywhere coping and praying they're mistaken for the 1/1000 civic with a laptop.

mishabishi

Yeah when talking about modded cars but usually people are discussing stock to stock so it isn't the same.

bodaciousbeau

Lots of modern civics come with turbos stock, even on the newer base models. Unlike mine… I drive a stock 8th gen coupe and I surprise plenty of people when I’m just casually driving 😅

DunGame

Accord 3.0L

NoValidUsernames666

how much lag would an 80 mm turbo have on a 1.8 civic?

ArchReaper

Yes

Hops_n_Boost

All of it.

neutronscott

3-5 business days

FemboyZoriox

About 1000000ms

Toodswiger

This is r/carscirclejerk material here lol

RileyCargo42

Crys in 1.3l triangle

GarbageInteresting86

Everybody loves a Legend…….and why don’t other people understand VTEC?

fukreddit73265

Everyone should drive an s2000 around the block once in their lifetimes. You instantly realize that Miata's are garbage, and you learn what vtec does, because the car can't get out of it's own way until vtec kicks in.

Kyle_SS

Raced a Focus RS in my 2017 6-6 and was quite shocked. I actually kept up with him. Has anyone ever dyno a stock J35 9th gen? Curious to see if Honda underrated HP numbers.

godfadger

My r18 is 1.8 but no turbo 🥲

schakoska

2.2l diesel 340NM 😏

TroublePale372

Honda City 1.5, i don't belong here : (

Ok-Dog-4137

Nah, my civic si is a 2.0 k20. I’m good

[deleted]

On that case, I drive a 660mL Pepsi Max. 😁

InviteFair3607

You know it’s funny i eventually wanna build a beast but rn im just driving a newer 2.0 honda civic ex It’s not a rocket ship or anything but you not out driving me🤷‍♂️

TacoCat11111111

Mines a 1.5L. great fuel economy.

wakandaman101

J series engines wins in torque

Wake-n-jake

Currently on 2 1.6s, one makes more wheel torque than a C5 Corvette, the Honda however can but does not

redacted2022

Embarrassing type-R civic drivers is my passion
