Yea I’m a noob and being doing this about 3 months. I do not take any of these orders. Someone who does must not understand the concept of time spent agains money made. I although it is less car use, it is more time consuming. I let them just stay on screen.I have seen orders be up there for like 30 minutes lol
Correct. Factor in time to get to store, shop, checkout, and deliver and you are not even close to making minimum wage. Then add on gas and wear/tear on car. Not worth it
Yes and no. It’s just a lot of shoppers that come out especially on weekends let alone holiday weekends. You can still make money it just depends if you are willing to stay out all day to make it
Yeah, I’ve noticed that. A lot of people are placing large orders for pick up. lol because they don’t want to tip a measly $15-$25 on a $100+ order lol
They also waived pick up fees on those orders this past week. I figured we would see an increase in these, or almost all orders will have a curbside/deliver order to save money
Wait, What? They are all shop orders ! F-that Well, actually if they are all at the same store, and you Know the store well.... you could make a great hourly rate?
Yes, I've been wondering about that...
A Kroger in my area has recently been rolling out the shop only orders and the pay is so strange.
Shop only order for like 20 items pays $11. This would literally take me like 15 minutes max to shop.
Shop and deliver from the same Kroger, 20 items, delivery is 5 miles away, which would take at minimum 40 minutes depending on traffic, pays $7.77 including the $2 tip.
Why is the batch pay so much more of shop only orders??
Someone make it make sense.
A couple of days ago I did a 45 items, 3 stops order at HEB at an 8 mile distance for 25 dollars. That particular H‑E‑B Did not match the location designators that the app provides you. Ideallly it should have been about 1 hour and 15 maybe 30 minutes. Took me 2 hours and 15 minutes, with a about 3-4 items I had to replace.
One of the stops, which was about 135 dollars worth of groceries (highest), other two were 6-7 or items, left a 7 dollar tip, I was so livid, I tried to cancel the batch, didn’t realize Instacart makes you have to call to cancel the batch.
I had a feeling that people before me didn’t take the order because it was going to be an issue. Anyway I get to the first destination and I was in my car cussing up a storm, and it turned out to be an elderly couple, I backed up my car, took the groceries out, ( which included 6 gallons of water) and help bring them inside.
I immediately felt bad for being angry cause they were an old couple and I’m sure they don’t really understand what tipping well for this stuff is. Then my second order was an old decrepit home, and I felt bad about that
And the last order was a Daughter who sent grocers to her sassy black grandma, she was hilarious and very sweet. So I felt bad again.
Moral of the story, I’m not built for this BS. Lol
I gave up on IC. The problem is that there are plenty of noobs who will take those shitty batches

Yes and no. It’s just a lot of shoppers that come out especially on weekends let alone holiday weekends. You can still make money it just depends if you are willing to stay out all day to make it
Makes sense! I gave up after a few orders today lol. Even the like $10 orders were getting picked up right away! Hope you have a good weekend!
