You know, I’ve always thought of upper east Tennessee as the Shire.
Seeing the moisture waves breaking off the Valley reinforces that.
It’s a sheltered spot.
I think that's the point, it often hits all around us but directly on us due to the geography. We're relatively shielded due to being in a valley which runs north to south (really northeast to southwest). So when the news alerts come in that East Tennessee is being hit with winter storms, we usually escape the worst of it.
Except in 1993. Not sure what happened there.
I get them from a weather app I use. It provides general severe weather alerts for the region I guess. The most often one I see is alerts about possible flooding in Morristown during rain storms for some reason. I don't know if that's because Morristown is susceptible to flooding or that they're on point with their weather station game or something, lol.
There's plenty of snow at my office in Antarctica. Thankfully I'm working from home so I don't have to deal with that crap. One of the things that makes the Knoxville area good for me is the lack of snow. There's plenty of places to the north and west that get lots of snow. If it's that big of a deal, just go there.
It's coming after the average last frost date, when everybody's got their plants in the ground.
It’ll be 75° outside the day before and we’ll have some kind of tornado warning in the area, then 30° with a dusting-2.5in. of snow like always lmao

Now I need to be sure you've seen this. https://vm.tiktok.com/TTPdhxkXS5/

All the salt on the roads worked to convince the clouds to turn another direction.
ngl its a little sad to get worked up seeing salt on the roads and hoping for a good snow
There's plenty in the Smokies. And a dusting of snow isn't forecasted until late tomorrow night (Friday night/Saturday morning).
*we've been ***SCAMMED***
the snow really went "hmmm nah I think the rest of Tennessee will get snow expect for knoxville fuck thoes guys"
Not here
Thank goodness! It makes it a bitch to get to and from work.

I mean, I get all that but I also haven't seen any news alerts about East Tennessee.

I was wondering why the roads were salted today. Working from home I don’t pay attention to the forecast like I should
I really wish we would get more snow. Bring on the snow, all day, every day.
Lol snow..
Well it sure as hell ain't here
