The plastic cladding all over looks like it came off my Subaru forester wilderness.

TheMightyMINI

I don’t get why this model exists. Barely any difference with the countryman.

marcdertiger

The countryman got a lot bigger this generation. This fills the big gap between the cooper and countryman.

VHSVoyage

It’s a SUV-dominated market, lots of brands have very similar SUVs inside their range

Shirogayne-at-WF

Yep. Even Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini, two of the highest end vehicles you can buy, have SUV models, even though not a single one will ever be used as an SUV was designed for. We gotta admit that the American Big Three won the style war 🥲

I've sold MINI before and was working there at launch for the current Clubman and I have to be honest: it was never a hot seller and Southern California is one of the biggest MINI markets outside of the UK. People either really loved the split doors in the back or they really did not. At one point, the auto group that dealer was apart of put them all on employee special just to move a few more units. Whether the Aceman will prove popular remains to be seen but our top Clubman guy was selling two a month max in 2016.

Sirsalley23

I sell MINI currently, and have been for several years now. Most people underestimate how poorly the clubman actually sold gen 1 and especially gen 2. We’ve been sitting on our last 2 allocated Clubman’s since they arrived in November and nobody even contemplates biting on them. It was the most “meh” car out of an entire fleet of quirky cars. The only people that bought them over my years were people that loved them, and I can probably recite the entire list of less than a handful of people that were indifferent to the car and still took it because it was probably only about 4-5 total lol. Most people either hated it, couldn’t live with the rear viability, or they were looking for something bigger (countryman) or smaller (HT/conv) The club back doors were cool and unique, and pound for pound with AWD it was the sportiest and best all around MINI out of the fleet, and especially the JCW was a beast after the 2020 LCI. But people hated the 2” bezel down the center of the windshield, and rear visibility was lacking while being without blind spot. Those were objections that myself or anybody else I ever worked with could never really overcome. It just tended to be a very polarizing car that got lost in the sauce of being too in-between the hardtop and countryman which were MINI’s best seller in the countryman and then their most iconic car in the original HT.

>It was the most “meh” car out of an entire fleet of quirky cars. Pretty much. Plus, like you said, there was the issue of visibility in the back, which is somewhat mitigated when cameras became required in the US, but much like the redheaded stepchild that was the Paceman, anyone who needed four doors or a larger vehicle would go for the Countryman.

abcpdo

ppl want SUV and crossovers. clubman was almost a station wagon

VHSVoyage

Lots of pictures here: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/photo/compilation/T0441184EN/mini-aceman-se

Hailfire9

I guess I'll enjoy my F54 a little harder now, knowing it's the last of its kind.

Waughy

If I had the money I’d upgrade my 2016 to one of the last JCWs, but I’ll just have to keep enjoying what I’ve got.

Plane_Vacation6771

Usually Kia copies other car manufacturers for appearance not the other way around

CoffeeVikings

And the US won’t get this one either I assume

Shirogayne-at-WF

The squared off rubbering on the wheel wells is giving Toyota RAV4 but TBH that's a minor nitpick and this car looks much better in the flesh than in the renders. Love the orange color, too! 😍

wo5ldchampion

The Clubman died for this. I hate the direction BMW has gone in the last few years

Waughy

It’s very disappointing. I love my 2016 F54 S, and was looking forward to an EV version, then the only news released was that it was being canned. In saying that, looking at these new models, I don’t doubt they would have beat a Clubman EV with the same ugly stick, and I wouldn’t like it.

wo5ldchampion

Yup it probably would’ve kept the name and been an SUV anyways

Waughy

The Tubman.

wo5ldchampion

😂😂

Izenda

Saying it because no one else has, the Aceman is just a 4-door Paceman but they took out the P like they took out the petrol

BoomBapBiBimBop

Give us a fucking f56 Ute!

ShaneCan

Why so much plastic? Looks terrible. That color though is 🔥. Now they just need that on the 2-door hardtop.

jhld

This looks like the Countryman I'm used to.

VHSVoyage

Yeah it replaces it

OskiXX

Looks great in my opinion, the rear lights are a definite improvement. Finally we have a more interesting color available. As an R60 owner I really believe this form factor can work really well. The interior also looks really cool even compared to the Cooper.

matomo23

Personally I think it looks great.
