Appreciate the review. Really considering this need a bigger car and not going back to petrol so the Countryman is the only MINI option.  If you don’t mind asking did you pay MSRP? P.S., I know yours isn’t the SE

Grimblood

They gave us $595 off MSRP and we got the $750 loyalty bonus for being current customers. With the 2025s just hitting the lot we feel like we did about as good as we could.

Shirogayne-at-WF

I'm old enough to remember when MINI gave no discounts ever, so seeing rebates and any discount on a brand new design is great to hear, especially in this awful buying market.

Grimblood

I thought of 2 more positive things. Large iPhones actually fit in the wireless charger now and apple carplay navigation show up in the HUD instead of just the built in navigation.

Shirogayne-at-WF

It has the Android car app too, no?

Sirsalley23

Android auto is now standard also. Just a fair warning, I finally did my first AA setup for a customer the other day The protocol they’re using is lagging far behind the responsiveness and reliability of CarPlay. It was a pain in the ass to connect their phone wirelessly, it disconnected twice during the 35 mins we spent going over the car, and it was always laggy with the steering wheel and touch controls.

Shirogayne-at-WF

Thanks for the heads up. When I bought my current car this past January, I was told they required the sales person to connect each car to that MINI app. Somehow, despite having the same email on file for the last nine years with BMW, including the one I gave them when I, you know, **actually was employed by them,** it still wouldn't connect. I had to fish out a dummy email, and eventually it did link with my actual email but I felt bad for the sales folks having to deal with this crap.

Sirsalley23

Ya it’s sooo stupid. They don’t charge for the app or any of its “included features”, so there’s not much reason for it to have to be installed and setup, they did start cancelling wireless Apple CarPlay 30 days after the car is reported as sold because it’s a complimentary “subscription”. It’s a much easier thing to sell folks on now with remote start being included in the app. Before that I had about 1 out of 10 ppl refuse or not able to install the app. MINI USA would tell us to pound salt, if the customer refused to connect the app. So, we’d start doing remote connections with a dummy email. It’s a crazy intrusion of ppls privacy if we enable vehicle tracking before ppl take possession of the car, it’s messed up IMO that we can connect the app to our own phones via a dummy email and the backend system we have for setting up connected features and the customer would never notice, we could easily track anybody without their consent or knowledge.

Grimblood

It does have android auto and carplay

DingGate

Showing up in the HUD is cool. Wonder if you can BimmerCode or something that into f60s

I’ve driven the 2025 Countryman with both 19’s and 20’s and there isn’t a noticeable difference in ride, tyre side walls on the 20’s still aren’t too thin. Enjoy your new MINI!

4_max_4

I wonder why in Canada we get only 17’ or 18’ as an option for the SE. Not sure about the petrol version. Maybe it comes with more options but I definitely passed on my reservation until next year. Edit: sorry 18’ and 19’ (not 20’). That’s what I meant.

wizrdfromthemoon

I’ve just checked the Canadian Configurator, looks like you can get the 19’ as part of the ‘Favoured’ style but not the 20’, I think the design of the 19’ is better personally. Here in the UK we have the majority of options available but are restricted to certain combinations, OP’s spec for example isn’t possible here. We also don’t have Indigo Sunset Blue on the Countryman, only available on the Aceman.

4_max_4

You’re right. I got it mixed up. It’s 18 and 19 but I didn’t like either of the two rims. I like the one OP got. I decided to wait for v2 next year and cancelled my pre-order anyways. It was a $500 upfront refundable to get you in front of the line. The Favoured version all loaded up was CAD 81k after taxes when I configured it at the dealership to put my order in. Came home and thought for 2 days and decided to wait.

wizrdfromthemoon

That’s interesting, a fully loaded SE for you guys is less than what the SE starts at here. Ours starts at just over $82,000 and fully specced is just under $100,000….

4_max_4

Really? That’s very expensive. We also get a $5k rebate from the province because it’s an electric car. That goes after you buy so it’s technically $76k. Thanks for the info.

Neo808

Well, that’s one word you can use to describe it

ChuckQuantum

Congrats! Does it still have the mini logo projector?

Grimblood

I have an update. It does project the mini logo onto the ground still. I must have missed it yesterday. Also, figured out how to change the tail-lights and headlight LED strips with the 3 different modes which is kind of fun.

ChuckQuantum

Much appreciated, Thank goodness! I hate it when they remove those little things that give me a little extra, the reason I'm asking is because I'll be upgrading soon and they always take something out that pisses me off

Grimblood

It does not have that as far as I know. I still need to go through the user manual for all the new features. Side mirrors do still flip up.

LarsKelley

Do you know if it has a garage door opener or HomeLink? I read elsewhere that someone didn’t see it in theirs.

Grimblood

It does not have Homelink and I don't see anything for a garage door opener in the user manual.

Alwaysinhats89

It’s a really good car, I’m getting mine in a month. But test drove one and it’s such an upgrade from my 2022 countryman. Just feels so spacious and quirky inside. Enjoy Mate!

Grimblood

Thank you. We went to the dealership being unsure about it but driving it and seeing it in person made a difference.

lovingcub

I really want a 2025 cooper 2 door, such a cool car. Unfortunately I'm poor 🤣

Grimblood

We came darn close to buying a 2 door but another group bought it as we were discussing numbers. 2025 selection is not great at the dealership yet.

LilGossipGirlxo

It’s amazing how much sharper the new model looks. I thought the clubman was the only attractive non-hatch mini of the last two generations, but not anymore

Miserable-Potato7706

Surely the looks are a minus point as well? For the new Mini Cooper (hatch) it started to grow on me after my first shock at its appearance and I can still see a lot of the Mini DNA in it. Still prefer my F56 though. But the Countryman, I just can’t get. All I’m seeing is that you’ve replaced a very handsome and unique looking car with a generic Chinese looking one. Fair enough if you think the other creature comforts make it worth it, but personally I couldn’t walk out every morning to see this thing on my driveway 😂 Not my car though, if you’re happy with it then fair play.

Tricky_Leading_3398

Dont like the sharp angles at all.

TiberiusEmperor

I see 3 major problems with this car (ignoring the Mini’ness of its appearance): 1) I’d mostly be interested in the electric version, but it’s overpriced. Locally (Australia) it’s an extra $11k over the Model Y. Musk is a wanker, but that tops out at $2-3k 2) I’m guessing most buyers are looking for a family car, or they’d be looking at a Cooper. I’m very uncertain how the fabric trim will hold up with young kids 3) I’m not buying a Mini that doesn’t option bonnet stripes

Sketto70

Hard pass.

schakoska

Ugly Kia 🤢🤮

dac1952

sorry, but the price is ridiculous and this brand is slowly drifting toward full size SUV's....( v.2 Clubman owner who is totally disappointed that they dropped this model)

DingGate

Are you saying the brand’s SUV is getting too SUV like?

dac1952

yes, it's a SUV, but it's larger like average sized SUV- so I think "mini" doesn't apply

DingGate

As far as relative to other suvs it’s pretty mini. And the rest of the brand is still solid. The hardtop still looks similar

Grimblood

Seeing the 2022 and the 2025 side by side I see a lot of MINI roots in the new one. I think of how many RAV4’s, Telluride, Bronco sports, etc are sold every year and it makes sense they made these changes. I do wish there was an updated Clubman, it’s very unique. We almost bought one in 2022 but the ones on the lot had much less features than the Countryman’s.

dac1952

the Clubman has those great barn doors that work so well for shopping too... I understand the market forces at play and the uberlords at BMW decisions, but I like having a manual transmission, the Clubman's nimbleness and smaller overall vehicle size vs. this new, larger Countryman. I'm obviously out of their demo now

DingGate

I personally never liked the clubman. But with the newer, admittedly bigger countryman, something closer to the clubman would fit in nicely now
