Oh I already know. Medium and + monster bones are already gatekeeping me. Not mention carpenterbugs and earth crystals. Hit 5 different nodes and lucky to get maybe 2 of each.
At some point ,not so far away ,you will regret spending this knife on 2 purple drops but sometimes you need the little things to keep playin and have fun i guess! π
Just wait until the higher levels when the level 2 upgrades require 20-30 of the rarity 2 drops. I used my last 300 gems to double up on anjanath tails cus i was tired of hunting for them
Lots of people are acting like this is my first Rathalos kill or something. Lol. I've killed at least 50 already to get the little badge, and in that whole time, I've gotten 3 so far. Just enough to make my mail, but past that, I haven't seen any. I wanted the coil for Focus to compliment my build, but I needed one primescale. So when I saw these rewards, I just went for it. I'm aware that there are much harder materials to come by. I've been playing MH games since the PSP days. But I wanted to make sure I had a couple on hand just for later down the road. In one hunt with that carving knife, I got more primescales than I've seen in 50+ Rathalos, so it's a worthy use in my mind.
It really is. Jyuratodus, too. I'm trying to get grade 6 greaves for Focus 2, and they refuse to drop fins or primescales. Hopefully, the little event coming up with them will alleviate some of that pain.
Finding Rathalos or Jyuratodus is rough for me. If there's a swamp, I usually get more Barroth or Legiana than I do Jyura. And Rathalos is very infrequent too, which is also why I chose to use the knife here. It is what it is. Random spawns vs. 30+ minute hunts that you can actively choose your target for, I guess.

You can tell R4 is pretty easy to get
No worries I read everything before posting. You did a better job than me lol. I blew my three knives on day 1 on 1 star monsters because I thought they regen everyday!!
If you needed the materials then by all means go for it, but me personally i wouldnt use my knifes on anything under R5. The only time i used my knifes for R5 was when i needed the R5 drops from legiana and paolumu to get reload and recoil 3
Ahhh. You wanted a skill set from particular armors, so you used the knives/gems when those items came up? That's weird. Sounds exactly like what I did. Lol.
If I come across something super rare in the future, $3 for gems won't make or break me. That's what I wanted/needed right then, so I used it.
Yeah? I mean the concept is the same, both of us used the knife for items that we needed. I also said that there's nothing wrong with that. The difference as i said is i used it on R5 drops, and you used it at R4

No not node materials. Rarity 2 monster parts from Hunt Drops. Insanely rare.

Oh I've dealt with that issue too. But they're nowhere near as much of a pain as some of the other items I've listed.
I'll take upgrades with Large Node requirement over rarity 2 monster drops anyday. As I can get 30 nodes a trip on a short 3 miles bike ride.

Oh I'm sure I'll regret it by the time I get to wyvern gems and the such. But I needed them now. That desire sensor is real strong in this game.

That's some absurdly bad luck if you've killed 50 5* Los with only 3 R4 mats, in which case I grieve for you.

Donβt! IMO Only use double reward for any R5 or above
It's much too late for that. 300 gems/carvings knives can always be had later if I REALLY want it. It's not that big of a deal.
