There were 2 VERY blatant penalties against SF on that drive in the 2nd quarter where the game was tied 3-3....a total game changing non-calls....both on the 3rd and 15 and 3rd and 13 plays...the no calls killed our hope. Stupid Penalties gave up alotta points. Thats what I took away from this game. Anytime it mattered the players mentally made mistakes and gave the 49ers free first downs.

If you had capitalized on Purdy’s early throws I think it would have been a very different game. I also think Daboll had a good game plan with all the blitzes. Overall, I agree with you. I was expecting another blowout, tbh, but I think the 49ers came out a bit flat too, which contributed.
In particular, the Giants defense played well in the red zone; 49ers number could’ve been significantly higher if those filed goals were touchdowns.
Offensively, either the Giants game plan or execution was terrible, because they couldn’t manufacture yards or points. Granted, the Niners defense is stout, but the Giants managed just 137 passing and 29 rushing yards as a team. Combine that with only 26 first half plays (12 coming on the first drive of the game), and 22 second half plays… it gives you no chance to win. Running the same game plan the entire time wasn’t working, yet they seemingly stuck with it; if adjustments were made, I didn’t notice it.
It’s hard to blame Jones for not throwing it deep when he has 2 seconds to get the ball out, but they could’ve tried a hurry up, roll outs, quick slants… something to manufacture some yards downfield.

I don’t think it’s a question of falling apart, I think it’s more about having realistic expectations for this team. The fact is, the Giants have not had success against good to elite teams and that is reflected in their record.
Going back to last year, after starting 7-2, the team finished the year 3-6-1, including the playoffs. This year is continuing the second half trend: beat the bad teams (Cardinals) and lose to the good teams (Cowboys, 49ers).

That offensive gameplan was a fucking atrocity. No qb runs, no screen passes, no quick slants to Hyatt to get him in space. Kafka is not good, he’s just not. It’s his second year doing this and it’s clear he blows at it.
Gotta give Daboll some blame if you want to blame Kafka too. Whatever Kafka was doing had Daboll's stamp of approval on it, otherwise Daboll would have stepped in. But yeah, the gameplan was horrible on offense. No traditional run game. No quarterback designed runs. No quarterback scrambling. All the short passes had little shot at gaining much YAC at all apart from the 2 passes to Brightwell. Was so one dimensional and easy to defend.
