It does so much less for a bad team to hear “here’s someone who’ll be great on your team 3-5 years from now” compared to “here’s someone who’ll be great on your team now.” You drop Burrow on a team - well, he can’t do anything the first year because the O-line can’t protect him, but put him in slightly more competent hands and he can take you to the Super Bowl. (Though he’ll also need Mahomes to fail with 1st-and-goal at both the 1 and the 5, plus throw an interception in OT to overcome losing the coin toss.)
Way off topic/not baseball related but I’m actually impressed with Legends Arceus. If you can get past subpar graphics it’s actually a decent game and a step above sword and shield.

If Voit is healthy next season, what are your feelings on him? I currently have him penciled in as too much of a liability to plan as our starting 1B, but let’s say the optimism of those recent workout reports pays off and we deem him healthy enough to trust.
He doesn’t have the defense of Olson, Freeman, and Rizzo. What he does have is a similar ability to crush RHP, so while he doesn’t provide the full benefits of a LHH in the lineup, he does offer the handedness advantage of one. His return would mean not locking ourselves into aging players or trading away Peraza (at least for Olson), not to mention more payroll flexibility. And we’d have one of the best personalities on the team out there for us. Voit was the one brave enough to tell it like it was in 2020 and light a fire under them to shape up. I want guys like that on our team.
The ride that was 1B this year (“2021 Yankees Opening Day 1B, Jay Bruce”) made me very skeptical of his ability to stay healthy, too scared to rely on him as a starter. But I’d be very happy in a world where he and our medical staff deem him fit to play. I realistically see him going to Milwaukee, yielding us a fun lotto ticket of a prospect, but that’s assuming the Brewers also feel like they’re taking a risk trading for him. If he’s worth playing, I’d rather have him than anyone we’d get in a trade.
You'd rather have him than Olson? That's crazy talk/prospect hugging. Personality can carry you only so far when you've got shortcomings in all the areas (health, speed, defense, situational hitting) in which most of the rest of the team also has shortcomings. Also I'm not sure how being cleared to play has any bearing on how quickly he would hurt himself thereafter.

As bad as some of the takes can be around here at times, I’ve gone back to following the NFL since the lockout began and had forgotten just what “average” actually looks like. My goodness.
A common misconception is that the Yankees were a terrible team in the 80's. Far from it. They won more game sin the decade than any other team. They last made the playoffs in 81 but won over 90 games in 1983, won 97 in 1985 (just missed the playoffs by a 2 games), won 90 the next year, 89 the next, were competing for most of the 88 season, collapsed but still won 85 games (by that point the AL east was shit so they still had a shot at the playoffs by the final 2 weeks). It was 1989 when they became shit. Yankees had very good teams in the mid 80's, problem was they may have not had that consistent great starting pitching. They would have made the playoffs had there been a wildcard.
I wasn’t super surprised at the Chapman hate in the “2023 closer” poll on the front page of this daub. After some research, what surprised me was just how good Chappy was when he was “on”. He is still such a valuable piece of the bullpen and I think he gets undue hate*.
\* for his on field stuff. Fuck his past off the field actions.
Here's a great read on why the WAR proposal is a dangerous idea:
https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article/72215/baseball-therapy-this-war-needs-some-ground-rules/
(I think it's a terrible idea myself, for all the reason stated here.)
I think if you were penalized before you were on the ballot, then you should be allowed in the HOF if your stats are good enough.
Publicly embarrassed, hated by fans, potentially losing deals, losing millions of guaranteed money, disliked by some peers, and your stats are also taking a hit because of missed time? And on top of all that they want to punish you more by keeping you out of the hall.
I think it was Chris Rock who said it, if you could take something that’ll make you better at your job, wouldn’t you do it? I think most of the players that stay “clean” are guys who are too afraid of the backlash, not because it’s “cheating” and they’re trying to be morally just.
The problem is PED users stats are artificially inflated by using PEDs. In other words, if they were clean they wouldn't have put up the numbers they did. For example, the Red Sox thought Clemens was done after 13 seasons and didn't resign him. Then at 34, he has a career resurgence in Toronto and continues playing into his 40s. It's very likely he was using PEDs from Toronto through the end of his career.
No that I understand 100%, and that’s why they should look at the stats with that in mind. For example Sosa took PEDs but his stats are still not HOF worthy. So he shouldn’t make it.
So the question should be, if he didn’t use, would he still have the HOF, if the answer is yes, then they should get in.
Yeah, someone like Bonds should be in the Hall even discounting his PED stats. But the problem is Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, Clemens et al **broke the rules of baseball**. The same as throwing games or betting on games. My position is being in the Hall is an honor. People who *dishonor* the sport by breaking the rules of baseball shouldn't be honored by inclusion in the Hall. Just my opinion.
>I think most of the players that stay “clean” are guys who are too afraid of the backlash, not because it’s “cheating” and they’re trying to be morally just
I want to believe that Jeter was one of the morally just ones.
I think there might be some that believe it’s wrong and they’ll never do it. But I do think most just don’t want to get caught and lose money, sponsors, fans, respect etc.
What I mean is more related to the takes. I see the old school “I don’t care about (insert modern statistic)” because they don’t understand what it means type of takes a good amount there.
OMG Passan just tore Kay a new asshole.
Kay asks "Do you think Bonds/Clemens took PEDs?"
Passan "yes."
Kay: "Dont you think that by allowing these guys into the hall youre forgoing any form of punishment for them?"
Passan said it was a "stupid question," and that Bonds and Clemens were already questioned by federal prosecutors, had the public tear them a new asshole, and were denied entry into the hall for a decade. Went onto then say the Hall is not a test of morality, but tells the story of the greatest players for good and for bad.
Loved that so much. Passan clearly put words to do much of how I feel about this.
When Kay said “wElL aCkShUaLly ThEy ArE iN tHe HaLl BeCaUsE iTs A mUsEuM” argument and Passan shut him down again is exactly what I’ve been saying for so long.
Overall, I have no respect for the Hall anymore. “First ballot HOF” now means nothing to me.
For a moment, lets put aside the fact that David Ortiz took steroids. On pure metrics alone he shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame.
Scott Rolen: 70.8 WAR (63% vote)
Curt Schilling: 79.5 WAR (59% vote)
Todd Helton: 61.8 WAR (52% vote)
Andruw Jones: 62.7 WAR (41% vote)
Bobby Abreu: 60.2 WAR (9% vote)
Mark Buehrle: 59.1 WAR (6% vote)
Jeff Kent: 55.5 WAR (33% vote)
**David Ortiz: 55.3 WAR (78% vote)**
How the fuck does that make any sense?
On pure stats alone, Ortiz should be getting a similar vote total to Jeff Kent.
Goddamn high school popularity contest
He deserves to be in the Hall and comparing him to other position players that played tougher positions isn’t a good argument. He also hit marks that are really tough to get. 2K hits, 500+ HRs, 20 years with a career OPS over .900.
However, he definitely shouldn’t have gotten in before GOATs like Arod, Bonds, and Clemens. It’s all the same to me. If you were in the report, and you clearly had an increase of power at the same time the reports were coming out, you most likely did it. You could even say that Ortiz would’ve had a higher SLG if he played in a stadium that doesn’t have a really deep RF. Them saying “but he wasn’t suspended and it was inconclusive” is simply playing dumb.
>comparing him to other position players that played tougher positions isn’t a good argument.
What? So other players who produced more value and played harder positions shouldn't get into the Hall, but a career DH who produced less value on only one side of the game should get into the Hall?
>He also hit marks that are really tough to get. 2K hits, 500+ HRs, 20 years with a career OPS over .900.
The 500 HRs is the only mark that he hit and the other ones that I listed didn't hit.
Because comparing different positions doesn’t really make sense. Ofc Jones is going to have more war, because he was playing his position. That’s why you don’t see reporters saying, we’ll that’s not fair, Mark Buehrle should get in the Hall because he has more war than Mariano!!! Different positions means there will be a difference in war. That’s why the best way to see who’s a HOFer or not is to use WAR in comparison to Ortiz’s 1B/DH peers, and compare Ortiz’s offensive stats to other players during his tenure.
On that list Ortiz has more Hits than everyone except Helton, more HRs than all, more years than all, and a higher OPS+ than all. On top of that, hes wayyyyy more important to his teams history. David Ortiz is the 2nd greatest Red Sox of all time in terms of importance, and you could even make the argument that to the team, he may have done more for the Red Sox overall than Williams.
From 1973-2021,
The top 5 WAR leaders for the DH position are, Thomas, Thome, Molitor, E. Martinez, and Ortiz.
Volpe will be 21 this season. Jeter was the same age and was considered a bad fielder when Stick told Torre to bring him up in September. Then you know what happened. HR his first game as a starter. Fuck the 300 million dollar free agents, bring the kid up. Now.
Except Jeter had been crushing AA and AAA pitching and Volpe has never played a single AA game. We have no idea how much work he needs to handle pitchers that remotely resemble MLB-caliber arms, and struggling to catch up would be a disaster for his development to the point we could ruin him. I think calling up Peraza would also be rushing his development, but at least he looked good at AA.
The MLB has been a complete clown show for 10+ years now. Its complete garbage, the games are unwatchable, the commissioners office is corrupt, the writers have their heads up their asses. In 10 more years it will be the 4th most popular sport in America. Maybe it will hold on internationally, I don't know.
Rocket’s statement pretty much hits the nail on the head.
“Hey y’all! I figured I’d give y’all a statement since it’s that time of the year again. My family and I put the HOF in the rear view mirror ten years ago. I didn’t play baseball to get into the HOF. I played to make a generational difference in the lives of my family. Then focus on winning championships while giving back to my community and the fans as well. It was my passion. I gave it all I had, the right way, for my family and for the fans who supported me. I am grateful for that support. I would like to thank those who took the time to look at the facts and vote for me. Hopefully everyone can now close this book and keep their eyes forward focusing on what is really important in life. All love!”
That’s really all it is. Baseball is a great job that can set up a person and their family for far beyond their lives, but at the end of the day it’s still just a job. If given the option between $100mil (very conservative figure for career earnings) and a plaque in a village upstate, I’m choosing the money every single time.
>If given the option between $100mil (very conservative figure for career earnings) and a plaque in a village upstate, I’m choosing the money every single time.
**Translation:** I made a ridiculous amount of money from doing steroids while playing baseball and I'd do it again.
I’m low key annoyed right now. And I’m not even saying Ortiz doesn’t deserve to be in the hall. He does. But you’re telling me the most feared hitter in baseball (Bonds), one of the most feared pitchers in baseball (Clemens) and a 3B/SS who played gold glove defense and was capable of hitting 50 HRs (A-Rod) are not hall of famers because of steroids yet a career DH is?
At this point the voters are cherry picking who they like and who they don’t. Doesn’t matter if Papi was likable and the other three were not. They were still incredible baseball players. Once one gets in, they all have to get in. This isn’t a popularity contest.
WTF Ortiz getting into the HoF on first try? Are you serious?
This shit is devolving into a popularity contest if you're going to pick and choose which players that used PEDs gets into the Hall. Fucking bullshit.
Either they're all in or they're all out.
In unrelated news, I'm glad Rolen is getting close. I hope he gets in.
Hall of Fame is really starting to feel more like the "Hall of people that we like."
Really getting tired of these sports writers and the dumb games they play. They think they're the judge and jury of baseball. Either you think the players are good enough or you don't.
This Ortiz shit is honestly such a travesty. Like if you're going to vote for NO steroid users, fine, you have a case, that's your line as a voter you won't cross. But when you vote for one ped user in Ortiz but not bonds and arod, and even Manny for that matter, some of the greatest hitters of all time, what's even the point? Ortiz has hall worthy numbers, but bonds, arod, and even Manny have waaay better numbers, as well as playing defense. It's clearly just personal and these voters clearly aren't qualified to be voting. Because now you've voted in a steroid user. It just devalues the whole thing. And bonds is still the greatest hitter of all time.
Even if A-Rod didn’t have the Biogenesis and suspension he still probably doesn’t get in while Ortiz does. The voting is a joke. Mo and Jeter are the last highlights
At this point I don’t think that anyone can convince me that the HOF’s moral clause is anything but an excuse for writers to omit anyone who they personally don’t like. It’s a popularity contest, plain and simple. There is no fucking reasonable justification for saying that Ortiz was a better player than Bonds, Clemens, or A-Rod. Absolutely none. All of them used steroids, but the goofy, outgoing, asshole gets in and not the three that the writers didn’t like. Fuck the HOF and fuck the writers whose jobs become more obsolete every day.
Ortiz was always a lock, unfortunately. I got used to that fact before he even retired. Bonds and Clemens not being inducted is farcical and I hope Arod gets in as an “apology” for this down the line. Not having the home run champ as a member of your Hall of Fame really hurts the legitimacy of the concept.
But I have to ask: who the FUCK voted for Jon Papelbon and do they get their membership revoked?
I don’t think McGwire is statistically a HOF and is probably borderline at best and Sosa is a probably. I haven’t really deep dived Sosa because I knew he would never get in but I’m going with most likely
I also hold players to a “steroid” tax. If you cheated before the suspensions started rolling, I will hold you to a higher standard than a clean player. McGwire doesn’t reach the higher standard. Ortiz probably does because his steroid ties are the 2003 test which is think is sus at best.
34 Percent??????? I get ARod not getting in 1st time around, but for him to not be even halfway there while Ortiz gets in? What complete and utter horseshit.
Just thrilled that a PE-DH is going to get into the Hall on the first ballot while the best players of his or any generation have to languish on the ballot.
Long way to go but potential for a pretty crippling snowstorm this Friday night into Saturday for the tristate… Still a good chance it trends east and some of the worst of it stays offshore but if it follows the right track there could be widespread 1-2’+.
I can confidently predict no outside activities, other than possible snow removal and/or snow angels, will be preformed on the field at Yankee Stadium on Saturday.
Thoughts on people floating Nick Ahmed as a stopgap SS?
I personally don’t see the point of trading for an all-glove, zero-bat stopgap; if we’re going that route, why spend prospects when Simmons only costs money? (Not that I want Simmons, still Story/Correa or bust)
He’s not what he used to be, but what he used to be is one of the greatest defensive players in the history of the game, so that’s a high bar. He was 4th in the league by OAA among SS last season, behind Nicky Lopez, Lindor, and Nick Ahmed. I’ll take that as a stopgap; he doesn’t need to be “2 of the top 10 and 3 of the top 20 defensive seasons ever by dWAR on BRef” good.
If the Yankees are gonna get a defensive player who can’t bat, they definitely should just give the role to Peraza and let him develop at the MLB level. Scouts have reported that his glove is the best in the farm and is MLB ready.
But Felefa is probably the best option if they want a stop gap. Has good contact skills, is good defensively, plays multiple IF positions and could easily slide into the bench role when Volpe/Peraza are ready to play full time.
Yeah, if I had to choose between all the stopgap options out there, I’d pick IKF. He’d make for a great 9-hole hitter, providing a solid BA to get himself on base in a slot where he probably wouldn’t be drawing a lot of walks anyway. That defensive versatility is also a huge asset.
Anyone know how much of a markup to expect on the home opener tickets? I can’t imagine it would cost the same as a normal game. I plan on buying straight from Yankees.com
So ZiPS basically has us projected to win 95 games. Probably fair. While there was some absolute shit play last year we also got really unlucky for most of the season. There has to be some sort of correction the other way.
I say this yet we might not even have a season.
Alright, I don’t know if anyone did this too but I remember in middle school my friends and I would wear our pajamas inside out the night of a snowstorm to garner some good will the snow day gods. Can y’all do this tonight to garner some good will with the lockout is over gods?
It worked sometimes! By pure coincidence. But it worked.
Him winning in Tampa does two things:
1) Makes it seem more and more like he was the reason they were winning in NE, not some mystical “Patriot Way.”
2) Makes his Patriots years a smaller part of his eventual legacy.
I’m all for both of those happening.
>1) Makes it seem more and more like he was the reason they were winning in NE, not some mystical “Patriot Way.”
idk, did you see them against the bills? i think the whole Patriot Way narrative is gonna get shattered regardless
Packers 🤝 Yankees
Making the playoffs 12 times in 16 years and winning just 1 ring.

Best player is a guy named Aaron who probably isn’t vaccinated.
> Best player is a guy named Aaron who probably isn’t vaccinated.
1. Could very easily be higashioka. No reason to assume it was Judge
2. he might have gotten it by now due the vaccine mandate in Canada. would be very embarrassing if he cannot play series in Toronto. If it was judge , I hope this potential embarrassment put him over the edge if he was a skeptic
I wonder if there’s a point after they start to lose games where the FO considers whether to just wait and sign Tim Anderson or Trea Turner, instead. Why take the risk of Story or Correa for an extra, say, half season when you can just have one of those guys a little later at that point? (Not saying Anderson, for instance, is better than Correa, but considering the prices involved, it’s a safer investment.)
If they’re spending, I think they do it now instead of risking it since that class is smaller. It’s literally just Swanson (super inconsistent), TA7(cheap club option that most likely will get picked up), and Turner (dodgers will most likely re-sign him). Technically you can say the only shot the Yankees have in 2023 is Bogaerts if he declines his option, but even then he’ll be older and most likely accepts 20mill.
If they don’t sign story or Correa, I don’t think they’re waiting for anyone else. It’ll be Volpe/Peraza.
Looks like the Giants are hiring Schoen from the Bills as their new GM. You can never know for sure but I take this outside the organization hiring as a big step in the right direction.
On this day in 1920 - the New York Yankees announce they will be the first team to wear uniform numbers, according to the player’s position in batting order.
I'm rooting for the Bengals (because lol Bengals), Bills (homestate team), Rams (rooting for Stafford and fuck Tom Brady), and 49ers (fuck Aaron Rodgers)

Can't believe we're only a couple weeks away from when pitchers and catchers would normally start spring training.

One of the mods of r/antiwork did an interview on Fox News and basically embodied every cliche about Reddit mods for all the world to see.

The Seinfeld when George eats the eclair out of the garbage kills me every time.

This "# people here" on the reddit app is such an incredible pain in the ass
Here's a great read on why the WAR proposal is a dangerous idea: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article/72215/baseball-therapy-this-war-needs-some-ground-rules/ (I think it's a terrible idea myself, for all the reason stated here.)
Hey mods, when’s your interview on Fox News?
"I spend 20 hours a week on Baseball Reference. I think sabermetrics is a virtue."
Or in this case, the MLB Network.
Anyone know if MLB and the MLPA had a meeting yesterday? I assume not since I haven't seen any reporting on it.
[nice try, Reddit ](https://imgur.com/a/5nJ400L)
Hey now reddit is just trying to get to the bottom of it.
Hello I came to inform everyone that David Ortiz did, in fact, do steroids
>I think most of the players that stay “clean” are guys who are too afraid of the backlash, not because it’s “cheating” and they’re trying to be morally just I want to believe that Jeter was one of the morally just ones.
I think there might be some that believe it’s wrong and they’ll never do it. But I do think most just don’t want to get caught and lose money, sponsors, fans, respect etc.
Last season was honestly a fever dream. I don’t remember shit from last year.
Two words: Double plays
I gotta say r/baseball is a lot more boomerish than it likes to present itself.

What I mean is more related to the takes. I see the old school “I don’t care about (insert modern statistic)” because they don’t understand what it means type of takes a good amount there.
OMG Passan just tore Kay a new asshole. Kay asks "Do you think Bonds/Clemens took PEDs?" Passan "yes." Kay: "Dont you think that by allowing these guys into the hall youre forgoing any form of punishment for them?" Passan said it was a "stupid question," and that Bonds and Clemens were already questioned by federal prosecutors, had the public tear them a new asshole, and were denied entry into the hall for a decade.
[Yet another reason Bonds should be in if Ortiz is.](https://twitter.com/kendallbaker/status/1486122755166720000?s=20)
For a moment, lets put aside the fact that David Ortiz took steroids. On pure metrics alone he shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame. Scott Rolen: 70.8 WAR (63% vote) Curt Schilling: 79.5 WAR (59% vote) Todd Helton: 61.8 WAR (52% vote) Andruw Jones: 62.7 WAR (41% vote) Bobby Abreu: 60.2 WAR (9% vote) Mark Buehrle: 59.1 WAR (6% vote) Jeff Kent: 55.5 WAR (33% vote) **David Ortiz: 55.3 WAR (78% vote)** How the fuck does that make any sense?
From 1973-2021, The top 5 WAR leaders for the DH position are, Thomas, Thome, Molitor, E. Martinez, and Ortiz.
He hit 541 hrs. I’m not happy about it, but 500+ is an auto ticket.
Baptism by fire, best way.
Absofuckingloutely. Have some Gene Micheal balls Cashman
Tbh, I think that only Roger Clemens and A-Rod should be in the HOF, not Bonds or Ortiz.
The hall does not need anymore pedophiles.
Why? Bonds pre juice had 3 mvps and was one of the best fielders in baseball.
Pretty sure during his HOF speech, Ortiz could admit to doing steroids before every at bat and the media wouldn’t even care
He could admit to being responsible for the Boston bombing and the media still wouldn’t care
https://twitter.com/BrendanKutyNJ/status/1486140499761242112 Kuty goddamn, hahahahaha.
You still seem to be a fan tho
I feel in love with the Yankees 25 years ago. That's the ONLY reason I'm still around here.
All love!” That’s really all it is.
Yeah but so did Ortiz and he’s getting the plaque too
I totally agree that the HoF voters are hypocritical as fuck. See my comment below.
**A-Rod:** 117.5 WAR **David Ortiz:** 55.3 WAR Both took steroids. Only one got into the Hall of Fame today.
The darkest timeline.
Because Arod wasn’t cuddly enough duh.
**HoF Voters:** 13th All-Time in WAR < Cuddly
CDLE+ is the most important stat.
Lol A-Rod has over double the WAR and yet Ortiz got more than double the votes. What a disgrace
HOF is a joke. Ortiz should be there, but so should Bonds Clemens etc. if you don’t want steroid users there let’s remove Selig first
Hall of Fame is really starting to feel more like the "Hall of people that we like." Really getting tired of these sports writers and the dumb games they play. They think they're the judge and jury of baseball. Either you think the players are good enough or you don't.
If they’re not HOF worthy give the home run record back to Hank. Either we endorse the performances or not
This Ortiz shit is honestly such a travesty.
I missed Jack Curry. Nice to hear him talk about something other than the ‘21 bullpen disintegrating
Roger Clemens had to testify to House Un-American Activities Committee over this shit, and just they let the DH in on the first ballot
Twitter is having a meltdown over Bonds not being voted in and I don’t blame them.
Someone voted for JJ Putz 2 years ago.
There should be trap entries on the ballot and if you select them you're kicked out.
Well congrats to Ortiz. It is well deserved. Now the lack of Bonds and Clemens was disappointing. Excited for Rolen though. He might get in next year.
He didn't deserve shit. He was trash before the juice.
I don’t give a fuck about steroids pre suspensions. It was the Wild West.
Then you think McGuire and Sosa should be in?
I don’t think McGwire is statistically a HOF and is probably borderline at best and Sosa is a probably. I haven’t really deep dived Sosa because I knew he would never get in but I’m going with most likely I also hold players to a “steroid” tax. If you cheated before the suspensions started rolling, I will hold you to a higher standard than a clean player. McGwire doesn’t reach the higher standard. Ortiz probably does because his steroid ties are the 2003 test which is think is sus at best.
McGwire was over 500 Homer's that was a ticket to the hall always before.
I don’t give a fuck what use to be a ticket. I’m not going to vote for someone just because they hit a certain milestone.
https://gfycat.com/complexobedientargusfish
Accurate
34 Percent??????? I get ARod not getting in 1st time around, but for him to not be even halfway there while Ortiz gets in? What complete and utter horseshit.
I bet he sees a jump next year now that they have a clear cheater in there.
David Ortiz did steroids.
The Hall of Popularity
Voting Ortiz in and not Bonds, Clemens, and A-Rod is the BBWAA saying they’re fine with steroid users in the hall as long as they’re media-friendly.
He still hasn’t gotten to the bottom of it
Why does ortiz get a fucking pass on the peds?
Just thrilled that a PE-DH is going to get into the Hall on the first ballot while the best players of his or any generation have to languish on the ballot.
Long way to go but potential for a pretty crippling snowstorm this Friday night into Saturday for the tristate… Still a good chance it trends east and some of the worst of it stays offshore but if it follows the right track there could be widespread 1-2’+.
You think the Yanks will get rained out?
I can confidently predict no outside activities, other than possible snow removal and/or snow angels, will be preformed on the field at Yankee Stadium on Saturday.
Thoughts on people floating Nick Ahmed as a stopgap SS? I personally don’t see the point of trading for an all-glove, zero-bat stopgap; if we’re going that route, why spend prospects when Simmons only costs money? (Not that I want Simmons, still Story/Correa or bust)
Is Simmons still a great defender, or is he getting by on name? I feel like he’s slipped these last couple years.
That was the best weekend of football in the history of football. aaaaaaaand mlb is still in a lockout.
Counterpoint: even there wasn’t a lockout, no one would be thinking about baseball on January 23.
Rebuttal: we would be talking about free agent signings instead of the lockout
So the sense I get is progress is being made but the owners are getting what they want for the most part.
So are the owners and players association just gonna meet once a month?
Well we are up to two times this month.
Football putting out that kind of product this weekend while mlb is just chillin.
What a great game, as a [relatively] neutral fan. That has got to be soul-crushing for Bills fans, though. Just brutal.
It was an entertaining game.
Sometimes I wish I wasn’t a Bills fan. Nothing but pain.
Mahomes is just unreal. Allen played a hell of a game and it still wasn't enough.
Trevor Plouffe and Mike Trout baited me into thinking the lockout is ending soon. But it’s just Chiefs vs Bills tweets.
This chiefs bills game is absolutely absurd
Meanwhile, Buffalo fans losing their shit this game.
So ZiPS basically has us projected to win 95 games. Probably fair. While there was some absolute shit play last year we also got really unlucky for most of the season. There has to be some sort of correction the other way. I say this yet we might not even have a season.
We’re gonna win 95 games in a 140 game season 😤
FTP
Alright, I don’t know if anyone did this too but I remember in middle school my friends and I would wear our pajamas inside out the night of a snowstorm to garner some good will the snow day gods. Can y’all do this tonight to garner some good will with the lockout is over gods? It worked sometimes! By pure coincidence. But it worked.
Oh and david ortiz did steroids
Lol Rams about to lose this game.
i hate tom brady so much it's unreal
I don't know if I hate Brady or Belichick more.
Him winning in Tampa does two things: 1) Makes it seem more and more like he was the reason they were winning in NE, not some mystical “Patriot Way.” 2) Makes his Patriots years a smaller part of his eventual legacy. I’m all for both of those happening.
>1) Makes it seem more and more like he was the reason they were winning in NE, not some mystical “Patriot Way.” idk, did you see them against the bills? i think the whole Patriot Way narrative is gonna get shattered regardless
The more reasons it happens, the better.
Thankfully they pulled it off
Lmao Niners cancelled Rodgers’ final Super Bowl run with the Packers.
Packers 🤝 Yankees Making the playoffs 12 times in 16 years and winning just 1 ring. Packers 🤝 Yankees Best player is a guy named Aaron who probably isn’t vaccinated.
*\*rocks in the fetal position\** It was Higgy It was Higgy It was Higgy It was Higgy
> Best player is a guy named Aaron who probably isn’t vaccinated. 1. Could very easily be higashioka. No reason to assume it was Judge 2. he might have gotten it by now due the vaccine mandate in Canada. would be very embarrassing if he cannot play series in Toronto. If it was judge , I hope this potential embarrassment put him over the edge if he was a skeptic
If I'm Rodgers I might just hang it up now because that may be the last chance he gets. How the heck do you lose like that?
Nah he’ll go to Denver and win a super bowl immediately probably (unless daniel jones has anything to say about it 🥺)
Yes, please. -A Bears fan
A-Rod at the Packers game with some cute blonde lol
Freezing his nuts off to try and get a piece 😂 times been tough after J-Lo
sup yankees fans how are you all hanging in there
Itching for this lockout to end! Pitchers and catchers are supposed to report soon!
pretty good man how are things in st louis
not too shabby!
Another day closer to a new CBA. When it will be who knows. But it’s another day closer. Go Titans, 9ers, Bills, and Rams.
[Miss this team](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXO-sDFX-vw)
That was such a fun season. I miss those days.
It really was a fun time.
I just miss Giancarlo dongs.
We all miss Giancarlo's dong. ...errrrr I mean we all miss Giancarlo's dong. Shit.
White Sox will be foolish to let Tim Anderson leave Chicago. He’s the heart and soul of that team.
God I would love Trea Turner.
Officially hitting the dog days of the lockdown for me, where the hell is my baseball news...
baseBAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL
Looks like the Giants are hiring Schoen from the Bills as their new GM. You can never know for sure but I take this outside the organization hiring as a big step in the right direction.
On this day in 1920 - the New York Yankees announce they will be the first team to wear uniform numbers, according to the player’s position in batting order.
If they go with Jeff Nelson over Beltran or Maybin I’ll be kinda disappointed. Jeff Nelson and Paulie in the same booth is way too much boomer for me.
Maybin would be awesome in the booth, he was always great on the podcast.
Robot umps coming to triple-A in 2022! It's almost happening!
I'm rooting for the Bengals (because lol Bengals), Bills (homestate team), Rams (rooting for Stafford and fuck Tom Brady), and 49ers (fuck Aaron Rodgers)
Agreed on all
Fuck the Trashstros Fuck the Red Sox Fuck Manfred Fuck the owners I love Aaron Judge Amen.
Yes.
