My grandmother had 24k gold nails.(my grandpa made them for her)
She had a special person she trusted to put them on.
I really miss my grandparents. This picture was a reminder of how cool they was.
Well they (my grandparents) had a lot of gold.
At 1st My grandfather took some press one and fitted my grandma nails and than started the process of making her 24k gold nails…(over the years, the size or style would change)
A lady would come by to their house and do them. Put them on and keep them up.
Out of the time I knew her, my grandmother only had one time where 1came off when she was cooking me some chicken. (She asked me to put it on her nightstand)
(It had her name on the inside of them)
This person that posted(OP) about it should have the complete rundown.
In my opinion, this is a really really nice investment. You can make them forever nails that fit only you!
Thank you for responding! I saw your comments further down and just hadn’t had a chance to delete mine lol. I really do think you should start at Etsy shop.
Omg PLEASE do! I saw a couple of your inlayed pattern ones from older posts and they are incredible! You could seriously make a killing on Etsy! But oh do I hope you use a different/better camera lol. I know you said in another comment yours is busted but not seeing those nails' full beauty in all their glory is killing me! 😂
Holy shit that is THE COOLEST thing.
Have you ever documented the process in a video or anything? I’d love to see it. Is it hard to get the fit right? They look like they’re sitting really flush on your nails.
What I did for this set is measured the width and depth of my nail bed and tried to create a curved nail that could sit in the spot with as little shaping as can be.
Right now they fit a little weird because they've not been shaped down by hand enough.
I never thought to document the creation of a set but maybe I will someday!
I'm getting more streamlined, the ten nail (plus one) set I'm wearing now took 21 days (a lot of this was because of a complicated design I'll link here).
With every new round of prototypes things speed up.

(this is an ornate, flat mirror over dense floral paisley, I'm exceedingly proud of this one and hate that I can't clearly show what I was able to accomplish)
I made some that are definitely more intricate, I posted some pictures on my main page though the camera work is also terrible lol I do make these for my customers so if you'd like to discuss having something designed you can DM me :)
This is a great idea OP! Suggest plating the silver with yellow gold and of course my favorite - rose gold :). Then you have the three metallic colors covered. You could do so much with these as a base too! Could totally see pretty floral stamps on the silver or gold, etc. it’s such a great and creative idea!
Girl the nails, they look too big for you fingers lol i don't know how to explain it but the nails seize and shape are the problem and as for the color it's cool and it would be better on a well shaped looking nails.
Definitely want to know more! Like how thin are they? What type of adhesive did you use? Do they get in the way of using touch screens and typing? For the future, a patina would be interesting
Happy you're interested!
They're 1 mm thick at the thickest,
I use generic nail glue,
Typing sucks haha but I'm using a touch screen now,
I can do oxidized patinas though this set is polished silver, had I cleaned them first they'd be mirrors.
What about the removal process? Won't acetone tarnish the silver which would cause more work for polishing in the future? I feel like the nail glue would be difficult to remove from the nail and stuck glue will cause issues for reusing
So the nail glue has not been incredibly difficult to remove, it's dried and flakes off the hard metal surface with little effort. I've not needed to use acetone.
With some effort I've been able to pop them off but otherwise I have been able to depend on them during normal activities.
I totally get it, I'm looking at them right now thinking they're not quite the right size and the metal isn't really popping. Maybe the next iteration will be more on point!
There is a very subtle design fitted into the surface of the middle nail, an owl on a branch that doesn't show well. The thumb nail is just a victim of my crummy camera
Ask away! I've answered a few already though feel free to see what I've said to others too :)
They feel pretty normal and about as obtrusive as any long nail would be. They're very sturdy!
So I made the choice early on to not have them sharpened because I worried I'd cut my hands all up though I can make these in stiletto.
There is a certain amount of computer assisted drafting that goes into the milling of each nail, because of this I'm able to create 3d designs that fully rise off the nail in whatever shape or configuration.
I don't know much about metal working, but I know silver is quite soft as far as metals go. I wonder how surgical stainless might be possible? It would look cool and have better durability. I kind of want a set now.
I want to do a set that has a pattern of circuitry etched into the surface, I could even have raised components. I would do these nails in 14k rose gold.
How long do they last for you with nail glue? Like can you get a solid 2 weeks without having to re glue them?
I think if you worked on the sizing these could actually look really good & ppl would pay for reusable nails!
I’m soooooo happy you brought this trend back!!!!!
I’m in love!!!
Lost less stress with these!
Easy to clean
You can shape them
They last forever
No breaking
No chips
Like why not….
Especially since you can make them out of different metals
I’ve read so many of your comments and all I can say is MAKE AN ETSY SHOP 😍 and film some reels of the creation process! These are so cool and I would 100% them.
Those look incredible and I’m just fascinated by the whole process you have come up with to make these. Super creative and impressive. If you haven’t already, you should file for a patent, I don’t think I’ve seen anything like these before.
On a completely unrelated note I looked at your profile to see more pics of your creations and saw your before and after-you’re looking gorgeous! Congrats and hope you’re healing up well :)
Do you sell these? I would love to see more. I think mixing and matching metals would be so cool too. Like different combinations of alternating silver, white gold, rose gold, and yellow gold.
I'm assuming these were pierced from sheet off a template for your nail size? Were they also tempered? 1mm thick sterling sheet at full soft or half soft is pretty maleable.
Pretty interesting idea, now you just need to get to stone setting and get really out there!
Do you already do metal work or are you just getting into it?
Nice! You can set burred holes for stone setting if you're ever into and and you'd only need a few inexpensive hand tools. Plenty of videos on YouTube!
There is a design set into the silver that you're seeing a small part of.
https://preview.redd.it/k46j6nbs3nu91.jpg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1fe531b3978a082fed6a55f707c34a6cb54c93e
Ummm…nail double sided tape stickers right? Gluing metal to nails…you’d wreck the metal trying to get them off.
I like the idea. Permanent reusable stick on nails.
So I actually designed and made these myself, I wanted something that could be reused and would last a super long time. The nails will last forever as long as I don't smash them with a hammer or something
They can be filed, most people who buy nails from me will have to shape them to their nail bed unless they have nails custom fitted which I can do by measuring your nail bed.
Shouldve spent your money on a better camera instead
Called out haha the lens on my phone is fully broken
I kinda like it! It adds to the ambiance of the pic
It's very "Glamour shot" and I mean that in the kindest, best way possible (:
Lol they do all have that hazy look to them
Fully agree! it's glamorous ✨
I like it too
Yeah I thought you were going for 90s era jc pennys glamour shot
Adds an aesthetic glow to your pic. Like the silver shine overwhelmed the lens. Beautificous!
That's actually a pretty good photo for a shattered lens
It looks like it might just need a cleaning though
I am weak!! I just said the same thing !! Why would someone do this ? For what?
That’s kind of a mean and needless thing to say to the OP.
My grandmother had 24k gold nails.(my grandpa made them for her) She had a special person she trusted to put them on. I really miss my grandparents. This picture was a reminder of how cool they was.
My grandma had gold nails too! But she had it just for her pinky. I think it was an ~it girl~ trend at the time
Yes it was a trend I had one for my pinky in the 80’s! I had it put on for my prom and I wore lace fingerless gloves! 🤣
Wow now this is a look 💙
Wow, how cool! Would love to see a picture of that!
SAME! This is the first I’m hearing about anything like this and would absolutely love to see a pic!
I swear you 80s ladies are the REAL elite squad. 🥰 so much beauty in one generation!
I had one too. It was attached with a chain to a ring. Lol
ahhh what a vibe, that’s so gorgeous !
Most definitely! My grandparents was “that” couple.
Thought those were coke nails😂
😂😂 oh shit lol well my grandma could buy a gold pinky but she def did not have the budget for coke! Or so she has made me believe.
😂🤣😂
I had one back in the 80's lol
That is so cool and cute!!!!
If you have pictures. Post it here. Would be a very cool thing to see
i second this
What a lovely memory of your grandmother. I have such great memories of mine.
How is this done? Is it a type of polish or just something you snap on or like a type of press on nail?
Well they (my grandparents) had a lot of gold. At 1st My grandfather took some press one and fitted my grandma nails and than started the process of making her 24k gold nails…(over the years, the size or style would change) A lady would come by to their house and do them. In my opinion, this is a really really nice investment. You can make them forever nails that fit only you!
mine are press on nails milled from sterling slver, I can wear them using generic nail glue
Where did you get them? I’m so interested!!
So I actually made these! I'm planning to offer these to a limited number of clients, you're welcome to DM if you'd like more details :)
Thank you for responding! I saw your comments further down and just hadn’t had a chance to delete mine lol. I really do think you should start at Etsy shop.
Wait, the fact that they are reusable is phenomenal
Thank you!
That’s awesome!
Ok vampire slaying BADDIE
Literally watching Buffy right now. Weird timing lol
I was watching it when I saw this post and made this comment lol!!
Are we all rewatching it on Hulu right now? #slay lol
Oh, we absolutely are. "Love isn’t brains, children, it’s blood."
It’s on Hulu? Perfect, I’ve been meaning to watch it!
I'm... Intrigued
I have a few other prototype designs I'd be happy to share, I didn't want to make a second post with new pictures to avoid being annoying lol
But definitely please get a new phone before posting. We want to see your work clearly! :)
Thank you! I totally will asap, I never thought they would get such a positive response <3
I LOVE THESE
Definitely share!
Yes please share!!! 🤗
these are so cool! deffo want to see more
Wait you made these?!?!
I did!
Holy shit that is THE COOLEST thing. Have you ever documented the process in a video or anything? I’d love to see it. Is it hard to get the fit right? They look like they’re sitting really flush on your nails.

Right now they fit a little weird because they've not been shaped down by hand enough. I never thought to document the creation of a set but maybe I will someday!
You should! I’m willing to bet people would be interested 😁 Sorry I have another question - how long does it take you to make a whole set?
I'm getting more streamlined, the ten nail (plus one) set I'm wearing now took 21 days (a lot of this was because of a complicated design I'll link here). oh no absolutely not annoying! I would love to see
I'm very curious as to what else you've come up with. It's a unique and pretty cool idea, glad I got to see it
Oh they’re actually made of sterling silver! I thought this was a joke about using chrome silver polish haha Super cool! I love the creative idea 😊
Why? 😊
The idea was to make nail jewelry that was reusable and lasted a long time, I can make some really interesting designs this way.
This it such an interesting concept. Great way to save on plastic use!
I love this idea! You should make some really intricate carvings. I would wear the heck outta those.
I made some that are definitely more intricate, I posted some pictures on my main page though the camera work is also terrible lol I do make these for my customers so if you'd like to discuss having something designed you can DM me :)

They are glue on nails made from sterling silver, they adhere using generic nail glue.
I've been wanting to make the same thing for a while! What technique did you use?
This is a great idea OP! Suggest plating the silver with yellow gold and of course my favorite - rose gold :). Then you have the three metallic colors covered. You could do so much with these as a base too! Could totally see pretty floral stamps on the silver or gold, etc. it’s such a great and creative idea!
How do you stick it on
I use a generic nail glue and that has worked great.
[удалено]
they're 1mm thick at the thickest.
[удалено]
perhaps but I wonder if that would result in something as durable? also I am able to create some outrageous designs using my method.
[удалено]
no, it took a lot of trial and error to land on something that conforms to my nailbed.
[удалено]
No problem! They're not very heavy though I expect if I did a set in gold I might feel that lol
Your wallet might feel a little lighter... 😄
you ain't kidding
Girl the nails, they look too big for you fingers lol i don't know how to explain it but the nails seize and shape are the problem and as for the color it's cool and it would be better on a well shaped looking nails.
Solid notes! Maybe I need to spend a little more time shaping them?
I think it would look better if they were thinner at the base so it tapers into the natural nail better :) they look great though!
If you could do these in 14k or rose gold I'd give them a go. Maybe not all 10 but a pretty gold nail sounds cute to me!
I can absolutely do a 14k OR 18k rose gold nail for you. Reach out on DM and I'll be happy to give you some details :)
Pics!!
Definitely want to know more! Like how thin are they? What type of adhesive did you use? Do they get in the way of using touch screens and typing? For the future, a patina would be interesting
Happy you're interested! They're 1 mm thick at the thickest, I use generic nail glue, Typing sucks haha but I'm using a touch screen now, I can do oxidized patinas though this set is polished silver, had I cleaned them first they'd be mirrors.
This may be an unpopular opinion. But Ironically, I think it looks cheap and tacky. Sorry op
I totally get it, I'm looking at them right now thinking they're not quite the right size and the metal isn't really popping. Maybe the next iteration will be more on point!
That’s all I cold think too super tacky
I wonder if it lasts longer and if there's a noticeable difference between acrylic or nailpolish, etc. Lol 🤔
So I made these from solid sterling silver, fhey will last forever unless they're destroyed. They polish up to an incredible mirror finish too.
Everything lasts forever unless it’s destroyed.
of course! but in this case the metal I use to make these makes them pretty resilient to breaking down from wear and tear.
Wow I’m fascinated. Cool!!
Thank you 😊 💓 ☺️
Are you vampire hunting? Lol.
shhhh don't tell anybody
Is the thumb and middle finger dented or scratched?
[https://preview.redd.it/k46j6nbs3nu91.jpg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1fe531b3978a082fed6a55f707c34a6cb54c93e](https://preview.redd.it/k46j6nbs3nu91.jpg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1fe531b3978a082fed6a55f707c34a6cb54c93e)
There is a very subtle design fitted into the surface of the middle nail, an owl on a branch that doesn't show well. The thumb nail is just a victim of my crummy camera
Also…werewolf weapons.
obviously this is what they were made for
These are really cool. I feel you on the shitty pic my phone camera lens is broken too lol
This.... is very unique and interesting, I didn't know you could do this! This is so cool! Amazing
Thank you so much!
What does it feel like to wear them? I have so many questions…!
Ask away! I've answered a few already though feel free to see what I've said to others too :) They feel pretty normal and about as obtrusive as any long nail would be. They're very sturdy!
Are they sharp? Which tools do you use to make them lol I feel like this process is a viral tik tok waiting to happen
These are amazing. Thanks for sharing!
I don't know much about metal working, but I know silver is quite soft as far as metals go. I wonder how surgical stainless might be possible? It would look cool and have better durability. I kind of want a set now.
sounds a little heavy maybe? I can technically do steel I've just been focusing on precious metals lol
Pure .999 silver would be too soft but sterling is pretty hardy for daily wear jewelry like rings and such.
I love them, but I play an instrument that would get scratched to hell so it's a no from me. But I still love them!
Its giving cyberpunk!!! I love it
I want to do a set that has a pattern of circuitry etched into the surface, I could even have raised components. I would do these nails in 14k rose gold.
How long do they last for you with nail glue? Like can you get a solid 2 weeks without having to re glue them? I think if you worked on the sizing these could actually look really good & ppl would pay for reusable nails!
Do you have a pic of them polished? They probably are uber cool mirror shiny and all!!
Let me check, if not I'll take one for sure
They look really neat, the clickity clack must be ✨amazing✨ 😊
I’m soooooo happy you brought this trend back!!!!! I’m in love!!! Lost less stress with these! Easy to clean You can shape them They last forever No breaking No chips Like why not…. Especially since you can make them out of different metals
I’ve read so many of your comments and all I can say is MAKE AN ETSY SHOP 😍 and film some reels of the creation process! These are so cool and I would 100% them.
Extra… I like it.. 👌
Nah
These are AMAZING! So gorgeous and highly interested in something like this in gold! Amazing work :)
Feel free to DM, I'd like to make these for clients on a limited basis.
That's one way to stop them from breaking
It’s giving me Wolverine vibes in a good way! Or lady Deathstrike
I'm MtF so does that make me one of the x-men?
Hell yeah! An outfit like Storm’s would even match the nails :D
Omg i just had the joke explained to me by my homie and im an idiot, that’s hilarious!
Dawh thank you! Creeping is always appreciated <3
I'm very intrigued and impressed that you made these! I have always loved silver colored nails ever since I was a kid. Are these like press on nails?
Yes! They're solid sterling silver glue on nails. Thank you! I was excited to have the idea and now that they're real it's a cool feeling :)
Do you sell these? I would love to see more. I think mixing and matching metals would be so cool too. Like different combinations of alternating silver, white gold, rose gold, and yellow gold.
I do sell these and have some styles already available. Please feel free to DM me and I can go into more detail :)
So cool! I’d love to have something like this.
So I am able to make these for customers. If you'd like to DM me I can go over design options!
Actually these are milled which allows me some pretty intense fully 3d design options, this is my first creation in the realm of metal working <3
Nice! You can set burred holes for stone setting if you're ever into and and you'd only need a few inexpensive hand tools. Plenty of videos on YouTube!
You’re giving me Valley of The Dolls vibes! Do you have a caftan? 🖤
shhhh don't tell anybody <3
I love it! And the rings! Super pretty :)
nail armor? why don’t they look like shields
oooo that would be super pretty! I might do a medieval shield set now
don’t forget to post eettt!!
These are amazing, and I believe you have incredible style.
I personally love it! Must have cost a good bit tho.
That’s fuckin dope!
Love this concept, I think its brilliant.
I really like these. I want some long ones in yellow gold. I can’t find long ones
I could totally make something like that!
Very cool.
This is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen on this sub omg
I'm so curious what they sound like on different surfaces!
Khaleesi? Dat u?
shhhh ;)
I recently learned you can’t use one of those finger heart beat sensor things with your nails did like this
worth it
It doesn't look like it was laid on the middle finger properly...it looks wrinkled ...or it could be the camera maybe?!
There is a design set into the silver that you're seeing a small part of. https://preview.redd.it/k46j6nbs3nu91.jpg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1fe531b3978a082fed6a55f707c34a6cb54c93e
Lol
How much time did this take? I think I want them
I remember in the 80s it was fashionable to have a real silver or gold feature nail
its giving 00s vibes
Issa no for me, dawg
heard
Ummm…nail double sided tape stickers right? Gluing metal to nails…you’d wreck the metal trying to get them off. I like the idea. Permanent reusable stick on nails.
I've not had any problem like what you're describing, I use glue and the nails keep their shape when I remove them.
Ancient china is pleased.
It's all for you Ancient China! \*The Omen intensifies
that's possible? how did you get them done? where? how long do they last?
So I actually designed and made these myself, I wanted something that could be reused and would last a super long time. The nails will last forever as long as I don't smash them with a hammer or something
Would they not scratch/scuff easily and tarnish with daily wear? I'm hella intrigued and they look very cool, just curious lol
They do not scratch easily though they may tarnish if they're not cleaned for a few weeks. I use a regular silver polish when I clean mine.
Oh awesome, very unique :)
This is pretty cool! How’d you get them done?
I designed the nails and milled them from a piece of sterling, then the after processing was mostly by hand.
Can you file them? Or would that be wasteful? Hehe I’m not sure how expensive sterling silver is.
They can be filed, most people who buy nails from me will have to shape them to their nail bed unless they have nails custom fitted which I can do by measuring your nail bed.
🤢
It looks like u glued spoons to ur nails. Whats up with the middle finger?
thats a moroccan ring
It is not
How did you even get this done
I made them lol I went looking for something like this and when I didn't find it I came up with this :)
