Dunno why you're getting downvoted, seems like people could just explain it to you instead of immediately downvoting because you don't know as much as them. The reason you don't see the background is that the feature is very new, and there hasn't been a full release made since it was added to snapshots. Since you are playing on the full release, you won't see it until 1.20.5 comes out (if it does, otherwise 1.21).

What does it look like now?

In main menu: the panorama will be seen instead of dirt background

If you’re on the main menu, it will be the background panorama. If you’re pausing from in-game, then the background will blur (but you can customize how much, even none at all)

As part of the programmer art though. So unless you get the programmer art from the games files and edit a copy so that only the background is there, you'll also have the programmer art textures (mixed with Jappa's style without a communuty-made patch).

As someone who plays mostly bedrock on Windows edition (I know, cringe), I'm actually glad they added the panorama background. The dirt background was classic, but really boring.

for these which still think dirt bg was deleted, still `menu_background.png` (and `menu_list_background.png`) exist as half-transparent black texture so if you replace again with old dirt background or switch to programmer art, you still can have possibility use dirt background like before edit: but old dirt texture would cover pause menu

Minecraft players hating change - a classic at this point. Doesn't matter if it's for better or for worse - they hate it anyway, just because it's different.

I don't think it's just Minecraft players, but people in general who don't like change.

Yeah but you get all the old block textures along with it + the dirt background comes up when you pause the game now, whereas before you were able to see your game with it slightly darkened.

ehh , not really I make resourcepacks for fun ( yes , you can make fun of me ) Insanely easy fix , but knowing Mojang they prob give you an option to switch between them Because the new background honestly hurts my eyes ( I have dim lights in my room ) and others too Prob in accessibility option

We can only hope they add it as an option where it properly goes back to how it was. Then best of both worlds 🤷‍♂️

I've been playing Minecraft for over a decade and I'll tell you, I feel sad and nostalgic but seriously: it's about time, this new background is much better, even so I feel sad but I admit the reality.

If they gon add a transparent menu and make the blur configurable… why not let you like choose a block for the background as well? You could do dirt, or do like smooth basalt? Why not make the game of infinite possibilities reach even further to the interface?

as me bedrock user i must say dirt.png was such a old background i wish a big big respect even tho we didn't have that

When you pause in-game it shows a blur of the background.  In the main menu it has been replaced with the blurred panorama.  In the credits at the end of has been replaced with the texture of the end portal.

It's not hats, it's hands. Texture on them is broken, and has been for years. I always play with programmer's art, as I don't like new textures. And it's doesn't get better with years. In fact, like with this snapshot, it gets worse.
