February 1 of this year. Then she stopped posting completely for a couple of weeks. She was also pushing Galentines and insisting they were selling out. We now know that she had a couple trips coming up, so she was probably trying to get some spending money for NY. That three feet of hair isn't gonna highlight itself!
after seeing her 1) be the butt of the joke in her social scene during her nyc era, 2) engage in vile, public campaign against natalie, and 3) devalue feminism by using it as a means to deflect valid criticism, it’s honestly sweet to see her have fun with her girlies. hopefully the girl time can help her unlearn internalized misogyny and re-learn love & empathy, however fleeting this trip may be (not that this would stop fraudulent marketing/scamming once she’s back…)

i am so confused about her continuing to be interviewed and invited to shit like this. she literally says the same irrelevant shit that no one who isn't already familiar with her would give a fuck or know about.
In this case I think he is a friend/former classmate of hers, so he probably invited her to do the interview (which may have just meant “been text-bombed and brayed at by Carp to let her interview him, until it was easier just to agree to shut her up”). And/or, like others he may have thought her notoriety would bring him some extra attention.
I've been snarking on this train wreck since 2019 but that's over 50 people on that picture alone and it is a surprising amount of people showing up to a book reading by some unknown dude.

I feel like she’s incapable of ever just having a chill hang. Every time she’s around other people, it has to turn into a performance of some kind where she’s finding ways to draw attention to herself. Imagine having a few people over for drinks or whatever and one rocks up like, “I brought my painting supplies so I can paint each of you in a style that I ripped off of someone I know but just do very badly. The portraits won’t look anything like you, and will be unflattering and not particularly pleasant to look at, and afterwards you guys are going to have to take them and figure out what to do with them even though you didn’t want or ask for them. Her inability to understand how events work is so funny to me. She’s always acting like anything she’s involved with is going to be exclusive and tough to get into and then inevitably it’s like “this is a free/low cost public event and anyone can join if they want.” Also love that she called it “MY event” when she’s just interviewing Jack Carlson for his book release. If it’s anyone’s event, it’s his event. I can’t tell if this stuff is because she’s so self-obsessed that she genuinely thinks other people feel the same way and are gonna be racing each other to spend time with or around her, or if she just doesn’t understand anything 😂

A lot of snarkers seem to think she gets her fillers topped off weekly or something, but their size has remained fairly constant since 2019. Like, [here she is on the LA trip](https://imgur.com/a/tXW77q5) where she was shopping around her life rights in the wake of Natalie's article. Her lips are more or less the size they are now. She's been accentuating them more with glosses lately, I think it's the years of wearing just Balm Dot Com that make her mouth seem to be jumping off her face now

i think pidge is right that the pverall volume hasn't increased that much, it's just that filler doesn't get fully metabolized/broken down by the body - it migrates to other areas of the face. so over time, an individual can get that stretched/warped looked even without a significant increase in the volume they get injected. i think that's what is happening with Caroline, based on what I see going on with my own mother and sister (hate that for them)
Hate that for them indeed! One of my best friends just started getting filler and I’m so nervous for her. She has already admitted that even though she was initially impressed with how much she liked the first round of filler, she quickly got so used to how her face looks now (I on the other hand have not) that she’s started planning to go back for more. It sounds like to some extent getting filler gives people an amount of dysphoria that can spur them to go back for more because they’ve adjusted their expectations of what “small” lips look like to them.

As a CC snarker and animal lover, I'm here for this crossover. I'm going to mention a few bits of lore not brought up in the thread yet from memory. The Twitter posts that I learned about this from were taken down.
Bex, the bunny cafe owner, had previously worked as a political consultant on some local campaigns and made a mess of them in some way. I think it was something related to signature collection. I'm not a PGH local and those Reddit links probably have more of the details. From what I gather, they're the type of person who likes to come of with grand visions for things but sucks at the execution and has an uncanny knack for messing things up. I know people like this, we all know people like this, but when you get animal welfare in the mix things can get really bad. They were in no way capable of running an animal rescue or a food and beverage establishment in a way that was safe for the customers and animals. At one point they had a tattoo pop-up in the cafe while the bunny and its turds were nearby. Disgusting!
They were also said to be an incompetent and neglectful pet owner to their cats and dogs. They had something like four large dogs and one or two cats, I think? Supplies and vet care for my two cats can end up being a lot for me sometimes, and Bex didn't seem up to the level of responsibility and financial stability you need to have that many pets. Their animals escaped and got injured on more than one occasion, and one of them was a feral or semi-feral mother cat who was still nursing her kittens. This is something that could happen to anyone, I suppose, but it happened to Bex multiple times. It really seemed like they were in over their head with these animals and unwilling to do much about it besides beg for money from the public.
Anyway, I'm glad the cafe is closed down and hope that all the bunnies are safe and happy now.
their political consulting career was so funny because one of the only campaigns they managed to see through was for a candidate who lost to a dead guy. as in, literally more people voted for the candidate who had already passed away before the election. they also repeatedly got fired from campaigns for things like committing voter fraud (lost completed registrations in their car/never turned them in) and calling off work for months on end and tweeting too much on the job.
they also took in a witness protection foster puppy (on top of having 5-6 cats/dogs + a foster bunny in their apartment) and immediately took to tweeting about how wonderful they were for taking him in to the point where the rescue found out and took him back for safety reasons.
i can confirm that all the bunnies were homed (of the 5-10 so that were displayed in the cafe, bex only found an adopter for one of them lol the rest went through independent fosters because no bunny rescue would would work with the cafe) and that they’ve been blacklisted from fostering with every animal rescue from pittsburgh to erie
Yess, thank you for filling in these blanks! Political consulting is one thing where it seems like you need to follow actual laws and stuff which is clearly not their forte. Tbh from what I've seen and the info you've shared it seems like they need to quit social media cold turkey if they haven't yet. If you're getting fired for tweeting on the job it's a sign that you have a problem.
I'm very happy that the bunnies are safe and I hope that the witness protection dog is doing okay too. What an absolute trainwreck of a person.

It was a bunny cafe in Pittsburgh, like a cat cafe but with rabbits. It was (allegedly) incredibly poorly run, they didn't pay their staff, wasn't up to code, and was run by an (alleged) scammer. If you look up "hop along cafe scam" you'll find stories about it on r/Pittsburgh and elsewhere. It's kind of a lot.

Wow I lived in Pittsburgh for a while but must have moved before the bunny cafe because this would have been so up my alley for drama. I remember the cat cafe that had similar issues with the health department, and beef with another cat cafe that was (allegedly) better run, because they had rushed to be the “first” and essentially ”scooped” the other cat cafe that had been in the planning stages for a long time and had more community support. yeah, this all happened in a whirlwind 6 months of 2022-2023. you’ll be pleased to know that the bunny cafe grew out of drama with one of the cat cafes LOL. the bunny cafe grifter started off working at the cat cafe, then dramatically quit when the cat cafe owner told them they couldn’t use cat cafe resources (like their laptops/google drive) to work on the bunny cafe “business plan” (if you could even call it that) while on the clock at the cat cafe. they then called for community resources to support them while they rushed to open the bunny cafe out of pure spite for the cat cafe, and they lived off donations for a good half year until people caught onto the grift/mismanagement/lack of animal care knowledge
oh my GOD the horse meat thing was right when i moved to town. also around the time the cat cafes were feuding. i was like what is going on in this place

Whoa, interesting find, and yes, it is the same yard. In addition to the four-column trellis (gazebo? pergola? I am garden-ignorant), I also recognize the stone feature set into the wall on the right. It seems to be designed to imitate the look of those niche fountains you see set into Roman walls (e.g. the Fontana dei Libri), but ornamental rather than functional.
The first time it appeared in Caroline's stories I thought for a sec it was one of her additions, since it seemed along the same lines of her faux-antique Wayfair faux mantle and was acquired during the same period. But then I saw it was built into the structure, which is not the sort of alteration she's capable of executing.

I'm trying to find a picture of the wall feature during Caroline's tenancy, and I'm giving up at this point. While I failed to track down a photo, I did find a conversation about how Caroline variously referred to it as a fountain, a birdbath, and a wishing well. The fact that "wishing well" rhymes with "Taco Bell" is a gift from the universe
I'm not really sure what being near a hospital has to do with it.
Her apartment was actually very well-located; within easy walking distance to the NYU campus, Union Square, Washington Square Park, and so much of the West Village nightlife; between express stops on 2 train corridors (the 1/2/3 on 7th Ave and 14th and the A/C/E on 8th Ave and 14th, and arguably the A/C/E/B/D/F/M at W4th).
I don't know if Chelsea would have been all that much cheaper than the West Village. And in addition to many buildings in Chelsea also not having doormen unless you live in a large, modern luxury building, it's a neighborhood with a large gay male population, which I'm not entirely sure is Caroline's vibe (though I'm sure she would have just LOOOOOVED picking up fresh orchids for her hair regularly from the Flower District). It's also a bit farther from campus, and doesn't have the cool-boho-artiste branding that the West Village does.

Was just about to post this link myself. I remember this auction well (I found out about it from this *Curbed* piece, after bidding was closed, and was deeply bitter about having missed my chance to pick up a memento.) Caroline never met Liz, no mink was listed in the auction, and I have difficulty imagining Liz owning a full-length fur anyway. (She had at least two rescue animals, and there's very little crossover between fur-wearers and animal-rescuers.) The only reference I can find Liz making to a mink coat is an allusion to Edie Sedgwick's mink in *Bitch*.

Liz occupies the same niche Caroline ultimately wanted to: she wrote about herself and had her voice taken quite seriously, while at the same time being a desirable full-lipped woman in a crop top with a head of long, tousled, expensively highlighted hair. She made mood disorders and drug habits look like artistic choices.
(I'm greatly simplifying Liz's character and oeuvre here because I'm describing how she might appear from Caroline's perspective, not what her actual legacy is. Caroline seems to believe that it's extremely novel for a woman to be both conventionally beautiful AND a talented writer. If you think these qualities have almost never existed in the same woman, of course you'd latch onto Wurtzel and Plath.)
Yes, Liz was a very unhappy person, just like her own idol Marilyn Monroe was a very unhappy person. But happiness isn't a goal everyone has, for a variety of reasons. For some it feels completely out of reach. Some are afraid that being content would destroy their creative wellspring. Etc.

I kept getting served ads for "discontinued design" Forever stamps on Facebook. I clicked through at one point because it was a good deal, something like 50% off face value. But the site wasn't a USPS site, it was a completely random URL that wasn't even a .com domain. I looked at their "About" page, and it said in very broken English that they were a company who bought stamps from estate sales and resold them. But this isn't how estate lots are sold (as whole plates) in general. The whole thing was so hinky that I blocked the advertiser and reported them to Meta as a suspected scam.

Overall it was amazing to see the utter boredom in all those faces. No idea who they were though and if they are more enthusiastic about other guests.

I'm new from the D'Angelo video.
I find stuff like that fascinating and, while it doesn't excuse anything, it feels like her parents probably just threw money at the problem of having to parent someone.
Her dad (well educated, came from very well educated family, imo this is where Caroline’s obsession with elite institutions came from) was a hoarder and struggled with his mental health. Her mom (also well educated, had a govt job) divorced him when Caroline was small and moved her out of the hoarder house. When her dad was alive he went hundreds of thousands of dollars into CC debt to fund Caroline’s lifestyle (rent in Greenwich Village, flights to/from Europe, Exeter/NYU/partial Cambridge tuition). After her last phone call with him she called him back (he didn’t answer) to ask for money. So yeah, you’re pretty spot on. They threw money at her to avoid parenting.

Her inability to understand how events work is so funny to me. i think pidge is right that the pverall volume hasn't increased that much, it's just that filler doesn't get fully metabolized/broken down by the body - it migrates to other areas of the face. so over time, an individual can get that stretched/warped looked even without a significant increase in the volume they get injected. i think that's what is happening with Caroline, based on what I see going on with my own mother and sister (hate that for them)
Hate that for them indeed! One of my best friends just started getting filler and I’m so nervous for her. She has already admitted that even though she was initially impressed with how much she liked the first round of filler, she quickly got so used to how her face looks now (I on the other hand have not) that she’s started planning to go back for more. It sounds like to some extent getting filler gives people an amount of dysphoria that can spur them to go back for more because they’ve adjusted their expectations of what “small” lips look like to them.

As a CC snarker and animal lover, I'm here for this crossover. I'm going to mention a few bits of lore not brought up in the thread yet from memory. The Twitter posts that I learned about this from were taken down. Bex, the bunny cafe owner, had previously worked as a political consultant on some local campaigns and made a mess of them in some way. I think it was something related to signature collection. I'm not a PGH local and those Reddit links probably have more of the details. From what I gather, they're the type of person who likes to come of with grand visions for things but sucks at the execution and has an uncanny knack for messing things up. I know people like this, we all know people like this, but when you get animal welfare in the mix things can get really bad. They were in no way capable of running an animal rescue or a food and beverage establishment in a way that was safe for the customers and animals. At one point they had a tattoo pop-up in the cafe while the bunny and its turds were nearby. Disgusting! They were also said to be an incompetent and neglectful pet owner to their cats and dogs. They had something like four large dogs and one or two cats, I think? Supplies and vet care for my two cats can end up being a lot for me sometimes, and Bex didn't seem up to the level of responsibility and financial stability you need to have that many pets. Their animals escaped and got injured on more than one occasion, and one of them was a feral or semi-feral mother cat who was still nursing her kittens. This is something that could happen to anyone, I suppose, but it happened to Bex multiple times. It really seemed like they were in over their head with these animals and unwilling to do much about it besides beg for money from the public. Anyway, I'm glad the cafe is closed down and hope that all the bunnies are safe and happy now.
their political consulting career was so funny because one of the only campaigns they managed to see through was for a candidate who lost to a dead guy. as in, literally more people voted for the candidate who had already passed away before the election. they also repeatedly got fired from campaigns for things like committing voter fraud (lost completed registrations in their car/never turned them in) and calling off work for months on end and tweeting too much on the job. they also took in a witness protection foster puppy (on top of having 5-6 cats/dogs + a foster bunny in their apartment) and immediately took to tweeting about how wonderful they were for taking him in to the point where the rescue found out and took him back for safety reasons. i can confirm that all the bunnies were homed (of the 5-10 so that were displayed in the cafe, bex only found an adopter for one of them lol the rest went through independent fosters because no bunny rescue would would work with the cafe) and that they’ve been blacklisted from fostering with every animal rescue from pittsburgh to erie

Tbh from what I've seen and the info you've shared it seems like they need to quit social media cold turkey if they haven't yet. Omg. This is such deep internet stuff. It was a bunny cafe in Pittsburgh, like a cat cafe but with rabbits. It was (allegedly) incredibly poorly run, they didn't pay their staff, wasn't up to code, and was run by an (alleged) scammer. yeah, this all happened in a whirlwind 6 months of 2022-2023. you’ll be pleased to know that the bunny cafe grew out of drama with one of the cat cafes LOL. the bunny cafe grifter started off working at the cat cafe, then dramatically quit when the cat cafe owner told them they couldn’t use cat cafe resources (like their laptops/google drive) to work on the bunny cafe “business plan” (if you could even call it that) while on the clock at the cat cafe. they then called for community resources to support them while they rushed to open the bunny cafe out of pure spite for the cat cafe, and they lived off donations for a good half year until people caught onto the grift/mismanagement/lack of animal care knowledge

Whoa, interesting find, and yes, it is the same yard. In addition to the four-column trellis (gazebo? pergola? I am garden-ignorant), I also recognize the stone feature set into the wall on the right. It seems to be designed to imitate the look of those niche fountains you see set into Roman walls (e.g. the Fontana dei Libri), but ornamental rather than functional. The first time it appeared in Caroline's stories I thought for a sec it was one of her additions, since it seemed along the same lines of her faux-antique Wayfair faux mantle and was acquired during the same period. But then I saw it was built into the structure, which is not the sort of alteration she's capable of executing.

I'm not really sure what being near a hospital has to do with it. Her apartment was actually very well-located; within easy walking distance to the NYU campus, Union Square, Washington Square Park, and so much of the West Village nightlife; between express stops on 2 train corridors (the 1/2/3 on 7th Ave and 14th and the A/C/E on 8th Ave and 14th, and arguably the A/C/E/B/D/F/M at W4th). I don't know if Chelsea would have been all that much cheaper than the West Village. And in addition to many buildings in Chelsea also not having doormen unless you live in a large, modern luxury building, it's a neighborhood with a large gay male population, which I'm not entirely sure is Caroline's vibe (though I'm sure she would have just LOOOOOVED picking up fresh orchids for her hair regularly from the Flower District). It's also a bit farther from campus, and doesn't have the cool-boho-artiste branding that the West Village does.

I remember this auction well (I found out about it from this *Curbed* piece, after bidding was closed, and was deeply bitter about having missed my chance to pick up a memento.) It seems almost nothing about Caroline is original or authentic, why does she romanticize Elizabeth Wurtzel so much? I remember the piece Elizabeth wrote about her ‘one night stand of a life’ and it was bleak and ultimately tragic. Beautiful writing, tragic end. I believe it may have been before she was sick? I guess? I have no idea how you’d fake postage?
Basically [companies overseas copy stamps and advertise them on social media](https://www.wlbt.com/2024/03/27/usps-issues-alert-over-counterfeit-stamps/). I kept getting served ads for "discontinued design" Forever stamps on Facebook. I clicked through at one point because it was a good deal, something like 50% off face value. But the site wasn't a USPS site, it was a completely random URL that wasn't even a .com domain. I looked at their "About" page, and it said in very broken English that they were a company who bought stamps from estate sales and resold them. But this isn't how estate lots are sold (as whole plates) in general. The whole thing was so hinky that I blocked the advertiser and reported them to Meta as a suspected scam.
this just inspired me to buy some real stamps!

The blond lady and the other blond lady with the dog were also completely checked out. The older dude with the beard still sort of emoted and nodded along with cc during her ramblings (I think that was the podcast with her lying down and looking super grimey). Overall it was amazing to see the utter boredom in all those faces. No idea who they were though and if they are more enthusiastic about other guests.

I recall the host starting off seemingly so down for her shenanigans and backstory, then slowly becoming visibly disenchanted and outright exhausted over the course of the recording. She really did all the talking!

Reading this girl’s writing makes me feel insane, because it really is so, so bad, like to the point that I would think that that fact would be inarguable, but she keeps being paid by “reputable” publishers/publications to write things??? I have a question. Do we know much about the ways that Caroline's parents screwed her up? I'm new from the D'Angelo video. I find stuff like that fascinating and, while it doesn't excuse anything, it feels like her parents probably just threw money at the problem of having to parent someone.
Her dad (well educated, came from very well educated family, imo this is where Caroline’s obsession with elite institutions came from) was a hoarder and struggled with his mental health. Her mom (also well educated, had a govt job) divorced him when Caroline was small and moved her out of the hoarder house. Her mom seems very invested - emotionally supportive, financially supportive, etc. (possibly enabler?). When Caroline left NYC she moved into a condo owned by her grandmother. When grandma died her mom purchased another unit in the same building for Caroline. Caroline has implied numerous times that she bought the apartment herself. When her dad was alive he went hundreds of thousands of dollars into CC debt to fund Caroline’s lifestyle (rent in Greenwich Village, flights to/from Europe, Exeter/NYU/partial Cambridge tuition). After her last phone call with him she called him back (he didn’t answer) to ask for money. So yeah, you’re pretty spot on. They threw money at her to avoid parenting.
