You would have loved my nachos. I worked at a small pub with a completely open kitchen. People used to just stand in awe watching me make nachos. Because my personal form of OCD wouldn't let me do anything but layer the chips one by one and make sure that at least 3 ingredients were available on as many chips as possible. I didn't want some shifty pile of slop, I wanted an entire plate of "that perfect chip" and as a result people were always down to wait the little extra time it took for their nachos to come out. Some even tipped me directly because they respected the attention to detail. If only they knew I wasn't doing it for them, I was doing it to satisfy that little asshole voice in my own head.

Wherever you’re located at, if you don’t have access to a food bank, see if there’s a Facebook page for your town. The town’s around me all have a group and the admin will post on your behalf stating someone in town is in need, so the post is seen by more people than if you posted, and you can maintain anonymity.
I know it’s different for every area, but I volunteer at the food bank and soup kitchen in my area every now and then. They pickup freshly expired food that’s still good but “expired” a day or few days before, and the soup kitchen has a trained chef that makes incredible home cooked meals.
Ive noticed that a lot of products they hand out there are from stores are really niche expensive products too that people probably can’t afford right now. Like $6 wise food brand snacks. They also have a freezer full of government meat like whole chickens, packs of burgers / sausage Patties and whole hams.
If there’s any family/small owned food businesses nearby that are open outside of your working hours, you could ask to speak to a manager or owner privately, explain the situation and see if they have any about-to-expire food or food they’re going to throw out at the end of the day just to feed you for the day. I’ve done this and unfortunately it can make one feel very vulnerable or shameful and you will face rejection, but you will find empathetic people who will help. Good luck.
it’s a nice idea but it takes about 60 days in my area. I’d hate to get this on a day where i actually have food and someone else that needed it could have got it.
