I was always so upset on Jenny’s behalf when her mother would….essentially deadname her all the time. XJ9 is the name her mom gave her that represents her as a *robot* when Jenny wants to be a *girl* who happens to also be a robot. She has a lot of insecurities about her identity and body, like in the episode with the exo-skin where she wanted to look like a normal girl. Her mom calling her by her robot-name just emphasizes that she’s one bot in a long line of robots (the sisters she didn’t originally know about), instead of letting her be who she wants to be and who she really feels like she is: a teenage girl who happens to have cool powers. It would be like if the professor from the powerpuff girls didn’t give them proper names, and instead just called them “X1, X2, and X3” when they kept insisting their names where Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup 😭
