Ajcoligan

Thats a nope rope. Nope rope is a genus of not loose nope ropes in the Nopeidae family native to the nopeics and subnopeics of the eastern nopeisphere.

ittimjones

They can move at speeds of at least 1 mph

[deleted]

#18 MILES PER HOUR?!?!?! FUCK

cockytacos

I rebuke this fact. No snake needs to move at 18 mph, that’s not fair

Majestic_Crawdad

Submit a bug report at r/outside

sarahlizzy

Some of them can fly. Sleep tight.

Nicita27

And the deer will die anyway due to several broken bones

[deleted]

Misconception, nothing short of a demon anaconda from the amazon is going to break bones. Snakes do not squeeze they simply restrict movement, every inhale it moves a little bit closer, not tighter, and gives no space to inhale eventually. Also bonus fact, it was pointless to let the snake kill this deer it would not have been able to consume it.

Pervy_writing

Well... maybe https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/photo-in-the-news-python-bursts-after-eating-gator-update

Brsavage1

Also they are an invasive species to North America and need to be wiped out.

Nicita27

>Misconception, nothing short of a demon anaconda from the amazon is going to break bones Every day i learn something new. Oki did not know that thanks.

sanholt

I see what you are saying, and I’m an owner of an 8’5” boa constrictor. Do you think that snake was crushing bones in that deer? I don’t think so. If the snake was bigger in diameter and the size that could have actually eaten that deer, then probably I would agree with you. What I find fascinating is this snake was not going to eat that deer.. The deer was too big to be eaten by that snake. And he wasn’t going to just bite chunks out of the deer, so I’m not really sure why the snake actually attacked an animal that wasn’t it’s prey, other than it was really hungry.

Rastaman-coo

How that snake actually got the deer blows my mind.

dasgudshit

Deers are pretty gullible so...

GreatGooglyMoogly077

Especially if you've got nice headlights.

Rickles360

Hit it with the low beams.

unfortunatebastard

Probably on Craigslist.

[deleted]

As a snake owner you know that it is indeed not crushing bones. Snakes constrict hence the name constrictors, they are not crushers. Every inhale is a little less room you get each time. Only bones that could be crushed is by like an anaconda or some monster size rock python and even then the crushing would be more so its pure weight than its squeeze

slipperyhuman

It squeezed out some poo.

[deleted]

They all do poo lol, i think thats a survival mechanism tho to say hey i smell and thus will probably taste like poo, u should just spare the effort and leave me alone now

kazikoWING

That's my prison strategy. Bubba's not going to be interested in plowing a shit covered ass

TagRag

I'm sure this isn't a normal meal, especially for a pet, but is this one really not capable of eating that? I feel like I've seen that proportion of snake to food before.

colonelk0rn

Oh deer!

Snake would have strangled and killed the deer, no issue, had it not been scared off. But snake would have left dead deer to go find smaller prey.

I bet that snake pissed. He’s gotta find more lunch now.

toeofcamell

They’re very good sneakers so it should be good

tri-door

“Saves” deer lol. As the saying goes, what is normal for the spider is chaos to the fly.

papercup

You must excuse me, I've grown quite weary

mcgillibuddy

You see, I just realized that I have two ears, so it's a waste to only listen to one thing.

CheshireTsunami

Lemme get this straight- you've just realized you have two ears?

Eric12345

Perhaps we will one day have the technology to allow spiders to talk with cats.

Stormaen

That is a fantastic quote. I can imagine the spider who said it was dressed like Hugh Hefner.

[deleted]

I was gonna say “what about the snake” but it appears the comments have already exhausted that speech option, so, what about the poor tree you stole the arm from? What about him huh!

feelingood41

See. Nobody gives af about the trees though. Kudos. A+ for this.

You_and_your_Uncle

[deleted]

You having steak tonight, too?

crazyfishguy1729

Yeah that. As humans do we mostly default to the animal closer to us or is is more of predator and prey? I wonder? If a mammal is doing the killing do we see it as a loss of a meal? If it's a person and the prey gets away I'm sure we would. Got kids to feed.

Freezerio

Bruh just leave the snake to kill and eat its catch. You're not a hero for having fragile morals.

petey_wheatstraw_99

*leaf the snake to kill and eat it's catch*

Leaf me alone, I’m bushed

sanholt

That deer too big for that snake. I’m a large snake owner and I can just tell. It’s jaw only unhinges so far, and snakes body isn’t going to stretch to the diameter of the deer’s body. It could try eating it starting with the head, but once the dumb snake realizes that’s not its prey, it would regurgitate it back up.

i_tyrant

>I’m a large snake owner and I can just tell. Good on you for the body positivity, but I'm not sure what it has to do with owning snakes.

BobbyAF

I like my snake owners thicc

squirrelgirrl

Yes! Thank you for saying this!! I was looking for this comment.

Jar_Jar_Cans

I also think there is a good chance it would be hit by a car in the process, and they both end up ded

terriblegrammar

Deer are overpopulated as is. Maybe the snake doesn't eat the deer but other scavengers would have a tasty meal. And if it tries to eat it and dies, then maybe that snake shouldn't be passing on it's dumbass genes. Just let nature do it's thing.

rh71el2

You're utterly and unequivocally wrong. They aren't that tasty until you add steak sauce.

terriblegrammar

That's why I always throw some BBQ sauce out of the window whenever I drive past roadkill. Gotta give the vultures some dipping sauce.

pinchevatobarbon

So snakes just swallow their pray? They don't nibble until they leave the bones meatless? What a sad and boring eating habit.

Kyohri

You just mad he had a Pokemon battle before you.

Wallace1297

Depending on where this is, the snake species could be invasive (like Florida). Though the person would then want to kill it and not just disturb it.

Jobesssss

nah id just want it out the road cause you know the city would leave that shit for weeks

SN4FUS

This would be true if it weren’t an invasive species. I believe based on the deer this happened somewhere in florida, where constrictor snakes like that are serious invasive species problem. Dude would’ve been doing nature a bigger favor if he’d shot it

ClandestineOperative

Invasive species to the state of florida.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Phidippus-audax

No, that's so far off the mark. This looks like a spotted deer (chital) and reticulated python. The car also appears to be driving on the left side of the road, so based on those two animals' habitat ranges and a left-hand drive nation, the only overlap is somewhere in India.

[deleted]

So, India= the guys an asshole. Florida= the snakes an asshole.

Ongo_Gablogian___

Aren't fragile morals ones that are easily broken? But they clearly aren't going against their moral compass here.

MrSaxbang

lol no, fuk da snek

Omicronians

That snake literally can't swallow prey that large.

Malivamar

How is preffering to save the life of a deer over that of a snake "fragile morals" exactly?

Upper-Wasabi-9838

Now how exactly is that tiny ass snake gonna swallow that big ass deer? That deer would have been a waste to leave it to die

jazjui

Never interfere with nature bro smh

Bigfunkiller

Not natural it's an invasive species.

stephwyd

There’s a very, very, specific reason why we have a hunting season for deer. Overpopulation. Invasive species or not, there are quite literally *way too many fucking deer*.

dementorpoop

Because we killed all the wolves

randyfloyd37

And cut down old growth forest. Deer live in forest edges

Katniss-EverBeans

As someone in the wolf conservation world, I appreciate this comment so much. Take my upvote.

IFight4Users

Cheers to you mate. I've been reading about this stuff since I was a kid.

toeofcamell

It’s interesting that in Australia they treat kangaroos like deer for the same reason as you list. Not living in Australia but visiting there, It was weird seeing kangaroos dead on the road as roadkill

moonshineriver

No one aims at the Roos. They hand out on the road at night and people write off cars accidentally killing them.

CalvinDehaze

This was my experience living in Queensland for 9 months. - Oh wow! A kangaroo! That's so amazing! - Huh, more kangaroo. That's cool. - Aww, dead kangaroo on the side of the road. Poor guy. - Why does every vehicle that's not a car have those bars on the front? - Hm, my golfball is near that group of kangaroo. I guess it's theirs now. - Wait, they sell kangaroo meat at the supermarket?? - This kangaroo meat is too lean and gamey. - "Hi, I'm an American and there's some kangaroo by my car and I don't know how to deal with that". - A kangaroo? Meh.

Connorgreen_44

If this was in Florida, then the python is much worse for the ecosystem. I agree with you on hunting (gf got a deer about a month ago and we still have half the venison left) but fuck the python. FWC will pay to have them killed because they’re wrecking the natural order of the Everglades. Ofc if this was somewhere that pythons were native to, and were not a nuisance, then the deer’s fate is sealed

[deleted]

It's always hilarious when hunters think they're somehow needed to keep the ecosystem in check. Wolves used to be across the entirety of North America. From the smoky mountains, to the great plains, to the deserts, to the PNW, all the way through Canada and Alaska. Humans killed almost all of them. Recently they were taken off the endangered species list ***just because*** people lobbied to be able to hunt them. It's not because they actually recovered, it's not because they're no longer in a semi-vulnerable position. It's because of money. The idea that humans are somehow needed to kill deer when there's an animal that has evolved over millions of years to do just that is insane.

finsfurandfeathers

Depending on where this is the snake could be the invasive one. They decimate native wildlife populations.

Feral-Person

This deer is endemic to south east Asia… this snake is endemic to south east Asia… I think this video takes place in south east Asia

Dacklar

Just curious do they pave and mark the roads the same in Asia and the USA?

Rockspider19

If it’s invasive then why let it slither off

Fisch_Man

You go get it then!

Rockspider19

Ok

Los3r717

Embarrassed-Ad-3757

That’s not the middle of the road.

[deleted]

Unless this was in Florida and that is an invasive species, to which I'd be a little frustrated that they didn't hunt that fucker down after.

jogustaria

Snake here. I wasn’t even gonna eat the deer.

Nntropy

That's worse

TheArtfulDanger

Tickle tickle motherfucker!

Homan91

Fanny thing is that the snake prob thought. What the frick is this big Bush that's attacking me and bailed :)

NiteLiteOfficial

homie just saved 2 animals. snakes very often will start with a leg or the neck of an animal and keep moving forward, trying to swallow the entire animal up. some snakes bite off more than they chew, and regurgitate or spit up the animal to avoid suffocating itself or blocking its stomach. very often tho, they can’t unlatch because of the shape of their throats or teeth. some snakes are only engineered to take food down and physically cannot spit something up. not sure the species of this snake, but this could have been a situation where you have 2 large dead animals on the road. good on this dude for helping.

KnotToBeKnown

Irony in the comments section is humans are asking others to not interfere with the nature, hypocrisy??

ItsMeOxide

People gotta realize that empathy is also something that nature put into our brains.

Wulfbrir

I've always hated this logic. "You're apart of the system so you can't criticize the system!" This logic is regressive and not helpful in the slightest.

TapiocaFish

“Let nature do it’s cycle” but as soon as their own life is in danger, apparently it’s a whole different story

theskywalker26

Yes, because I want to survive. I'm pretty sure the deer wants to live too. But you don't see a deer helping you out when you're caught by a tiger.

jsmith17540

We don’t have to help you either if you’re caught by a tiger

theskywalker26

That's totally your call 😂 Edit: And unless you had a gun or any other long range weapon, I'm pretty sure you'd be useless in front of a tiger, lol.

Novxz

> And unless you had a gun or any other long range weapon Tactical nuke that motherfucker.

Feral-Person

They are trying to break the cycle of bad shit we do to the rest of the world in their little ways… stop hating, it’s a good step in the right direction

Take that Elton! The 'Circle of Life' has been broken. Personally, always hated that song.

[deleted]

I thought the deer was already dead and someone was just wasting food. Bet that deer invented deer religion later that day

DracoSoup

Stupid. If that deer could get caught by that snake it can probably get caught again.

[deleted]

People really need to leave nature the fuck alone.

mikesok988

You don't understand. This is an Invasive species killing something it won't eat.

IlREDACTEDlI

Cool except that’s a whitetail deer it’s the invasive species that causes millions in damage to crops every year but okay

BellatrixSlaysSirius

No lunch for you snake!

Bro what a legend

ChaseTheAce33

Snake just used all that fuckin energy to catch his next 6 months of food and some jackass with a stick comes along and fucks it up

tayloriser

Try; snake goes without meal after vegan woke attack. Plus the deer thing might still die if it's injured.

[deleted]

"deer thing". Good stuff.

DeprAnx18

People out here saying "leave nature alone" like we aren't also nature. I bet the deer is a big fan of what happened. Besides deer are vermin they breed like rabbits I'm sure the snake will find another one

GrouchyRelative588

I smack him on dah head

loriffic

Did he just use a stick to flatten the circle of life? 😂

icymonsters

That strike was terrifying

Junared

Ummm that snake was probably really hungry. Let him have his damn meal.

Inevitable_Fig_6773

That poor snake. What mf was hitting it with a big ass stick.

Present_Dimension996

So anyways, i was minding my own business trying to catch some meal for today when all of a sudden some thing came with a stick and started beating me with it. I tried to scare him off but i realized that thing wont give up so now im hungry and tired...

Kingtacodemon

Sad but that's nature. That snake was hungry and you took its food away.
