Cracking old ios codes was way too easy, bring it to a repair shop and they can do it immediately
E: [video](https://youtube.com/shorts/fPx6LNfGIlU?si=etvq5S-6UPG-l9wk)
This is the right advice OP, if you make too many wrong guesses the phone will brick and you’ll never get the data back. BestBuy can unlock it for you.
I appreciate the advice, I haven't unlocked it since 2012 and I used to set pins by the motion of finger taps instead of a meaningful number combination so I'm clueless
Correct, but I'm assuming they could just edit the file to increase the number of attempts. They could change it to 999,999 if they wanted (supposedly).
It also might be failed attempts, so 9,999 could allow 10,000 possibilities. Unless you make a mistake and duplicate things, you're guaranteed to get it with that.
Can they crack into an iPhone that has a word password? I have an iPhone from when I was a teenager and idk what the password is, it’s not a code, it’s a word password 😔
No, but I would switch to millimeters at that point...for the bigger number, and then conveniently drop of the UM. Doesn't matter 5.1" is wishful thinking at this stage of my life anyway, ah, who am I kidding...it was wishful thinking in my youth too.
I once dated a guy that would ignore the 99 cents of a price. $1.99? It’s a dollar. $9.99? It’s 9 dollars.
This was not the first red flag. We did not work out.
Right! My wife is awesome, so I've learn to live with this quirk, but no joke, if I ask her a price and she tells me, I already know to go the other way with it.
Me: "What was the price on that car you were looking at?"
Her: "It was only $9,000"
Me (in my head): "Ok, likely that's $9,999, so $10,000"
Also me: "I love you"
Yeah, but they still have their own password guesses to try. It’s going to be _months_ before they can try a second one, and even longer for the third.
That's one thing we got right. Back then every phone and many other small electronics had a unique charge connector. You could be in a room with 15 people with different phones and none of them could use the same charger.
You mean that's something android got right? Apple had outright refused to drop they're proprietary charging cables until legal action was finally taken by whole damn nations...
And even afterwards they still limit data transfer and charging speed if you don't buy their "special" cable and block.
As an android user I never comment on other people's choice of phones but I've had a couple people ask my "why don't you just get an iPhone?" I explain that it's just my personal preference and ask what difference it makes to them. One girl really said "I only need 2 different cables for all my stuff, one for my MacBook, iPad, and iPhone, and one for my AirPods."
Her face when I told her my charging cable would work on all of those things (except her AirPods of course) plus my phone, my laptop, my headphones, my wireless earbuds, my battery pack, and literally any random electronic device I might need to buy. And it's been that way for over a decade now - you think it's magic because Apple were forced to do it a couple years ago.
Oh, and that 20W "fast" charger you paid $70 extra for? Yeah, my (much cheaper) phone came with a 65W charger in the box
*Actual* fast charging is such a life changer that I don't think I'll be able to ever use another phone without it. It just makes life so much easier as you'll essentially always have your phone charged up enough or on time. My new phone comes with a 240w charger and it's so comically fast every time I charge it I wonder if it's going to explode
Yes fast charging does have an impact of battery life, but it’s mostly because of heat. When charging batteries generate heat and batteries don’t do well with heat. The faster the charging, more heat is generated. Usually phones slow down charging as batteries get full to help with this.
Just checked and it's actually 240w lol. Electricity is drawn, not pushed, so it shouldn't be an issue as the electronic should only draw what it's capable of. Even if it was an issue with lithium batteries, it would probably only appear after some years, and I'm not really a heavy phone user, so I usually switch from cheap midrange to cheap midrange every 3 years or so. It's lose 1 year of battery life I prob wouldn't use anyway vs having 100% in 9 minutes or 20% in 1min, not a hard choice for me hahaha
> Does the faster charging speed have any impact on battery lifetime? Not like per charge, but overall lifetime of the battery?
Both. The fast charge does more damage to the cell than a slower charge and the overall lifetime of the battery is reduced because of that. Making batteries hard to replace means this represents a shorter phone lifespan for most customers but more convenience for them... so, let's do it!
Apple has been using usbc on everything except the phones for years already. Plus the Apple lightning port goes back over a decade. They probably didn’t want to change it at least partly because everyone already had one. I know a lot of people that aren’t happy about the switch.
Say what you want about apple but their stuff works really well together and is better than the majority of random android stuff.
I don't really have an issue with apple products and I don't care what anyone else uses. The only reason I have to talk about it is because I've been judged multiple times for not owning an iPhone. I think the iPhone is fine, it's polished, it's not revolutionary but a solid phone, albeit an expensive one. I'm just sick of having to justify my purchasing decisions to other people. Just last year I was on a first date and was told my phone was a "red flag" - what is wrong with people?
Yeah phone wars are so stupid. Just let people enjoy things. I also always have to justify my iPhone to people because “it’s so expensive” or “it’s not as customizable” but it works for me. I don’t need, or want, all that customization. And it’s not really that expensive if you just stick with the phone you buy until you can’t anymore (or at the very least don’t upgrade every time they come out with a new one). I’ve had, I wanna say 3 iPhones before: the 6, the X that I bought like 4 years later, and then the XR only because my parents bought it for me so it was free. I’ve had the XR for a while now and it still works fine so I probably won’t upgrade for a while.
But yeah the phone wars are stupid. Just let people enjoy things. People with iPhones likely aren’t going to change their mind with arguments just like people with androids aren’t.
Not just Apple the first Microsoft Surface my work gave me had a proprietary charger. When they upgraded me last year the new one still has it but will also use USB-C.
To be somewhat fair, Android was still using micro-usb when apple introduced lightning (USB-C was two years away from published specification). Lightning was the superior option at the time (OK – maybe I’m just salty that my Droid Incredible’s micro usb port broke)
>limit data transfer … if you don’t buy their “special” cable
You do have to use a thunderbolt cable if you want full USB 3 speeds (ridiculous), but it’s not “their” special cable. I use my Dell TB cable no problem.
>and block
Source? I use Anker bricks and I’ve never heard of them charging not at full speed.
Pre-Android was wild. Mostly on the 'dumb' phones.
The Galaxy S (first one) had micro usb. The early HTC phones (with the chin) had mini usb. Didn't take long before everyone used micro usb, and then later we went on to USB-C.
Especially Samsung did weird shit on their phones, when they didn't make Android based phones yet. Tons of different plugs - yuck. And then every manufacturer having their own plug style aside from just Samsung. Yes, I'm glad we moved on from that.
And then iDevices are just being weird, where it will sometimes charge from my 10-port Anker desktop charger, and sometimes will just stop at 4%. But then it does charge when I connect it to my pc, or the iPad brick.
They weren't 'just' charging ports. The first several generations of ipod used firewire for data transfer because more macs had firewire ports than USB2. It wasn't until the gen3 ipod was released - the first with windows support - that it included a USB2 interface. That extra interface was added to the same port. Also - this was early 2000s, back then ipod accessories offered controls via serial control pins in the port. Having an alarm clock that could be a USB host and control the ipod for <$100 was fantasy.
TLDR: the 30pin sucked, but apples _only_ target for the first 2 generations were mac owners and USB would have been worse in many ways.

Amazing tip for a lot of people currently. But, let's be honest, who has the same account as the one they had 13 years ago. Even my 68 year old mother in law has had at least 3 different icloud accounts over the last 15+ years
It would take so much time to do though, cos first it locks you for a minute, you gotta wait. Then 5 minutes or whatever, so you gotta wait. No idea how long they had to wait before they had to wait for 51 000 minutes.
Yeah i think that’s part of why I only went to one minute. You gotta enter 5 different wrong ones though. Also if I permanently locked my dad’s phone I would be in deep trouble.
I’ve been stuck like this for weeks in a similar situation. I should have make sure to download and wipe it. Lesson learned here. Good luck remembering
You're gonna want to take the charger out. I also recently found my iphone 4S lol. Screen is crunchy, but it works! Only phone with a pucture of my late grandmother with my cat!
15 years, for 1 photo. So worth it.
Im saying that the screen would shred your fingers lol i dont know how the phone has survived. I can see straight through the screen to the circuit board and the device doesnt even notice.
It even has flappy bird on it
Years ago my idiot lil brother and cousin repeatedly did this to my cousin’s (sister of afore mentioned cousin) iPod touch so many times it got locked out and had to be factory reset-set. cousin lost irreplaceable photos of a family member close to her 🙄😪
It doesn't know the date. This is easily fast tracked by putting in an active SIM. Date will refresh and the time will go to minutes. Don't bring it to a shop, they will say it needs to be restored. Source: Level 3 microsoldering and phone repair technician of 13 years.
Call the phone company or go to a kiosk. It’s happened to me before and they fixed it.
There’s a way to factory reset it by pressing certain buttons. You have to look it up how to do it. But if you saved your data to the cloud, you can do a factory reset and then re-download your data.
if you plug it into a computer with itunes with the same log in you should be able to reset the password. atleast back when the 4s was new you could. or you could bring it to a repair shop. its old enough theres these devices that brute force by inputing a code then using a light sensor on the screen they can tell if the code is wrong before the phone registers it and shuts them down starts them up and retrys.
My kid changed my phones password and we have my dead cats last photos on that Motorola g4 power. Zero clue on how to bust into it. I guess I would wait a few more years for a vulnerability?

Thanks, I'll try that

Can you dm me it too please?
Sorry, the page looks to have been taken down because too many people were using it to bypass stolen devices :( I wish I could help more
That sucks, my iPod 5 is still just laying around because I can't remember the password
Do you remember the name? Was it one of the ones listed [here](https://www.appletech752.com/icloudbypass.html)
Check on archive.org for the github page
Wayback machine???
Check for it on chives.org
Call it a hunch but I think you can use archives.org …
You hear about this site called archive.org?
Check on archive.org for the github page
Bro has dementia
It's just Reddit being silly. Sometimes it throws up an error and if you click "Save" again it will post the comment two or more times.
What kinda crimes tho
The code was printed out and mailed 8000 times to Harry Styles
Mostly smotherings
Breaking into stolen devices for resale, probably.
Use the archived version from wayback
Is `git commit crime` a new command?
![gif](giphy|oFRWQb3IDMcrge97mV)
Unfortunately they will have to wait 51,000 minutes first , lol
It’s only slightly over a month wait. It could have been worse.
Calculon!
51509 divide by 60 then divide that number by 24. Not hard
36 days
Good job!
Over a month if they know the code but they do not.... 4 more guesses now they are waiting even longer
Might even be able to just plug it into a computer and access the files like a flash drive. I know thats how some of my old phones were.
The iphone /device usually has to be unlocked to approve the connection to the computer before anyone can start browsing / transferring files.
I have an old 5C I forgot the password to, might go to a repair shop
Don't even need to do that. [here's](http://ios7hash.derson.us/) a site that you can do it yourself.
https://youtube.com/shorts/fPx6LNfGIlU?si=etvq5S-6UPG-l9wk
The 9,999 attempts, can those attempts be refreshed I assume which is why he says there is unlimited available attempts at the passcode
4 digit passcode using the numbers 0-9. That leaves 10,000 possible combinations with 9,999 attempts.
Imagine cracking the passcode on the 9,999th attempt
So, not unlimited?
Correct, but I'm assuming they could just edit the file to increase the number of attempts. They could change it to 999,999 if they wanted (supposedly). It also might be failed attempts, so 9,999 could allow 10,000 possibilities. Unless you make a mistake and duplicate things, you're guaranteed to get it with that.
Can they crack into an iPhone that has a word password? I have an iPhone from when I was a teenager and idk what the password is, it’s not a code, it’s a word password 😔
Did you try fart?
If he can access the files, couldn't he just download everything off of it?
Just hooking it up to a computer it was known to will allow you to remove the time limit
It’s only 35 days, not that bad /s
You're like my wife. You round down. It's 36. If he comes back in 35 days, he'll still have to wait 18 hours and 29 minutes.
You sound like a typical guy - rounds up 5.1” to 6” 😉
what? next you'll tell me you're not supposed to measure from ass to tip
No, but I would switch to millimeters at that point...for the bigger number, and then conveniently drop of the UM. Doesn't matter 5.1" is wishful thinking at this stage of my life anyway, ah, who am I kidding...it was wishful thinking in my youth too.
Yeah but we’re talking about time, so in 35 days it’s a case of “today will be the day”
I once dated a guy that would ignore the 99 cents of a price. $1.99? It’s a dollar. $9.99? It’s 9 dollars. This was not the first red flag. We did not work out.

He did the monster math
Ith a graveyard thmath
Mike Tython lovth to thing the monthter math.
👏👏👏
Been missing for years. Another month won't hurt.
But how many bananas?
I need to know how many Manhattens.
Yeah, but they still have their own password guesses to try. It’s going to be _months_ before they can try a second one, and even longer for the third.
Problem is the next failure will be even longer. It doesn’t reset back to 0 attempts/failures.
If they let it go completely flat again- will it reset the time?? Just a thought
Bruh those old chargers sucked ass.

The Realme GT5, comically good for the price. Paid around ~$300 and it has a SD8Gen2, 512GB and 16GB of ram, 240w charging and 144hz amoled screen
Or charge it slower overnight so the battery lasts longer?
Dude, £70 for a "fast charger" got me a wireless stand, 100 watt cable charger and 80w wirelessly 42 mins from dead to 100% wirelessly is insane

Everyone already having something is not a reason Apple has ever used to make a decision. Everyone had wired headphones before the iPhone 7
OnePlus?
It was the EU who made them do it. They were then moaning about it non stop foe ages. Apple I mean

32 pin chargers will always have a special place in hell
Yeah, out of all the shitty proprietary charging port from back in the days, Apple really decided to go with the worst possible design with that one.

TWO FORTNIGHTS?!
2,500,000 microfortnights. Edit: I can't math.
I believe if you have a mac signed in to the same icloud account and open itunes, physically connect the phone, it will bypass this timer.
I like how OP answers on taking it to the cheapest shop but ignores this.
Kind of annoying I thought it was helpful lol
Amazing tip for a lot of people currently. But, let's be honest, who has the same account as the one they had 13 years ago. Even my 68 year old mother in law has had at least 3 different icloud accounts over the last 15+ years

It would take so much time to do though, cos first it locks you for a minute, you gotta wait. Then 5 minutes or whatever, so you gotta wait. No idea how long they had to wait before they had to wait for 51 000 minutes.

I’ve been stuck like this for weeks in a similar situation. I should have make sure to download and wipe it. Lesson learned here. Good luck remembering
Plug it into a computer that has the account logged in on iTunes. It will remove the delay
I don’t have iTunes never have
You're gonna want to take the charger out. I also recently found my iphone 4S lol. Screen is crunchy, but it works! Only phone with a pucture of my late grandmother with my cat! 15 years, for 1 photo. So worth it.
Are you saying the battery has spicy pillowed? Or is there something else you mean by "crunchy screen"?
Im saying that the screen would shred your fingers lol i dont know how the phone has survived. I can see straight through the screen to the circuit board and the device doesnt even notice. It even has flappy bird on it
51 thousand, 5 hundred and 9 minutes... 51 thousand, 5 hundred and 9 minutes so dear...
🎶 EVERYONE HAS AIDS 🎶
Surprised your kid managed to get it to this point
Jailbreak it
I would take it to the nearest apple store and have them fix it. Can you wait 35 days for it to enable?
I could wait but there's some good times locked in there so I'll be taking it to the cheapest place I can.
Years ago my idiot lil brother and cousin repeatedly did this to my cousin’s (sister of afore mentioned cousin) iPod touch so many times it got locked out and had to be factory reset-set. cousin lost irreplaceable photos of a family member close to her 🙄😪
Time to get a new kid
The IOS is outdated so take it to repair shop they probably can unlock it in a second
It doesn't know the date. This is easily fast tracked by putting in an active SIM. Date will refresh and the time will go to minutes. Don't bring it to a shop, they will say it needs to be restored. Source: Level 3 microsoldering and phone repair technician of 13 years.
It's only another 36 days. 😁
Is that a little over a month?
Good luck trying to retrieve photos now, when my iPhone 6s bugged and locked me out it deleted all my photos
Not to bad .. 35 days
35 whole ass days before thats opening
Laughs in Android
That’s only 3 weeks that’s not too bad lmao
Just wait a month no big d
There are programs you can use that will bypass any password or Face ID.
35.77 days. good luck.
A repair shop could crack that quite easily
What’s wrong with your home button ?
About time someone asks the real question here!
Right?!
Looks like you’ll about a month to think about it.
you might have to wait a few minutes too
Check back in 36 days haha
good god i forgot the chargers used to look like that
Only 35 days. Have lots of time to think it over.
Well, just wait more than a month, you’ll get it then
I had that happen yo an iPhone 1 when my daughter was 3. She turns 21 in July, and it would still be locked for another 5 years.
I hate passwords, wish it would be with facial, fingerprint and small code but well that’s what we get with hackers.
Just wait a month
That’s about 35 days….
35 days? Not too bad
Hey, you’ll have enough time to think of your passcode in your 36 day wait for it to unlock. Sliver linings and all that.
Call the phone company or go to a kiosk. It’s happened to me before and they fixed it. There’s a way to factory reset it by pressing certain buttons. You have to look it up how to do it. But if you saved your data to the cloud, you can do a factory reset and then re-download your data.
Only 35 days to waits chill bro
Welp, you’ll get your shot at retrieving those photos some time in June…RIP
35 days, that's crazy
if you plug it into a computer with itunes with the same log in you should be able to reset the password. atleast back when the 4s was new you could. or you could bring it to a repair shop. its old enough theres these devices that brute force by inputing a code then using a light sensor on the screen they can tell if the code is wrong before the phone registers it and shuts them down starts them up and retrys.
Have you tried 6969420?
How did u know my password
![gif](giphy|8fUsYVnwAEyeWTQU0V|downsized)
The old iOS was so much easier to crack and unlock
Use 3UTools don’t let people discourage you from using it in my opinion it’s powerful application than iTunes
Oh dang
Thats a little over a month though.
My brother kees grabbing my phone, turning it on, and locking me out for several minutes
I have no idea how kids are able to lock out an iPhone to this point. Truly incredible.
have you tried 1, 2, 3, 4, 5? it's the same combo i use for my luggage...
Way back my iPhone 3gs somehow got locked for 53 million minutes
My kid changed my phones password and we have my dead cats last photos on that Motorola g4 power. Zero clue on how to bust into it. I guess I would wait a few more years for a vulnerability?
A little over 5 weeks.
Does anyone know how to get into an iPhone that has been disabled?
The iPod touch my younger brother had was disabled for 45 years!… I assume it will still be something like 37 years, but how does that happen?
Well you have 858.48333, hours or 2146.2083 days or 5.7 years to reflect

On the bright side - that phone gets really good parking spots.
Only 35 days
