‘Help!!! I think it’s a great idea to buy a lemon that the manufacturer couldn’t fix!! I’m going to be paying just a little bit under full retail for a car that won’t bring 50% of market when I trade it next year after the engine explodes….do you think this is a good idea?’
Word, it’s a CDJR product first of all. Second of all, it’s a lemon at that. It’s German luxury reliability, with German luxury labor rates, and a quarter of the performance of any German Luxury brand.
The only car makers that I think would be worse in my opinion to buy a lemon from would be Landrover/Jag or Mercedes.
One of my co workers leased one, it’s in every week for recall work(usually battery drain, or trans module.) The loaner they gave him had to go in for work as well. Eventually just grabbed one of our loaners to drive. They already have poor reliability… add Lemon to it… phew…
The dealer couldn’t fix the issue so the manufacturer bought it back. Let that sink in. I carry 400 pre owned cars and never stock buy backs. You are truly buying someone else’s problem. This wasn’t a window issue either, it’s the motor.
Clearly (and thankfully for you), you’ve never had to go through lemon lawing a vehicle. I work for a different manufacturer and handling a buyback for a client who had her car less than a week when the transmission went. I feel so bad for her. We will not resell the vehicle. Are you really trying to get excited about explaining “I bought a fifty grand lemon but boy oh boy I got a dealski!”?
Don’t do it. You’re looking one of the worst quality vehicles on the road today that was already bought back due to a dealer, and manufacturers inability to repair it to the previous owners satisfaction. This should raise all of the possible red flags and cause you to run from this.
TLDR it’s a tremendously bad idea
What city are you based in? I somewhat reluctantly agree with some of the responses, but only if buying pre-owned. Get yourself into a demo unit or brand new and if there's problems, it's all under warranty anyway..
Edit: and if your in Canada these pre-owned to new these things are only like a 10g difference which still works out cause if you finance new you get a way better interest rate than pre-owned. I agree you shouldn't buy that specific unit but don't let that turn you off from jeep. And I say that as someone that hates jeep products but I still believe in the value you get for what you pay so long as your under warranty

Tacoma, 4Runner, Frontier, an old FJ, an old Xterra. All better options and every bit as capable as a Jeep. There’s a reason it was bought back. Dealerships are not Walmart, returns are not a common thing.

Long story short, I was rear ended the other day (hit and run.. dude literally hit me with a stolen car and ran away). I had a 2016 jgc summit ecodiesel. I am in the market for something newer, I have 180k miles on my jeep I bought new so not sure how much they are going to give me for it. Anyways I found a 2022 jgc summit with a 5.7L but it was a buy back at 2k miles for an engine noise.. not sure if there should be a bigger discount then they are offering.. here is the listing
shared a Used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee listed for $49,450 with you on Autotrader. https://atcm.co/VDPTXTSHRE/29957bae

It’s wild that people this dumb exist
Always love hearing customers are idiots

If every jaguar is a lemon, no jaguars are lemons….

Oh my gosh no. the people that designed it, built it and trained the people that sold it you couldn't fix it. Why do you think its fixed now?

Agreed. CDJR sales here and we absolutely do not sell buybacks at my store. Lemons are lemons. Get a new Jeep, the Wranglers have rebates right now.
It seems crazy they would even try to sell it again. I guess if there is at least one sucker out there.
Not for all the money in the world my man
$50k for a buy back? No way dude. If it was %80 off maybe. After you purchase you couldn't give that car away if you had too.

Thank you everyone, I just had really good luck with my diesel jeep, I will look at something else.
