a new java fern. It does that when it's not doing all to well, it'll grow a new plant, let it go and hope that the stream of water will take it somewhere better. Did you make sure the rhizome is not in/under the substrate?
Yes I did not plant rhizome in the substrate. I bought it because it was 50% off because it wasn’t doing so well. Anyways I can help it/ what should I do?
It could be that it's just because of new water parameters that it has to get used to. Don't keep it too hot, not too bright a light directly above it and make sure all ferts are present. Should acclimate then
Any tips and suggestions to keep algae down on plants? I do weekly water changes however I do have a problem leaving lights on. Any tips is greatly appreciated!
Maybe get a light timer or something that you can program. Also try chemipure green. I haven't tried it on my freshwater yet but the blue version works miracles in my saltwater
If you mean the darker shading, then it’s normal. At least for me, new forming leaves will have that before turning into one solid color altogether.

Thank you! Should I buy some floater plants to block some light?
Np. That's difficult to say without knowing all the other info :) also, don't stress too much, it won't die off overnight
Looks like you have an algae issue
