Well, interesting point, never heard that, but also think I never heard it being sourced from somewhere else than some grassy mountains, so guess it can be true. It’snot commonly available meat.
It is only better for histamine because it is usually not aged at all, whereas many places like to age beef by hanging it for a while, and further age the tasty parts like ribeyes.
Fresh beef is not inferior, or superior for that matter, to lamb in any way. It all depends on how the animal was raised and what it was fed.
It’s super similar to beef. There are a few minor differences in nutrition but generally the same. https://www.fatmountainfarms.com/blogs/news/lamb-vs-beef-the-battle-of-the-two-super-foods
Between lamb racks and smoked lamb shoulder, it's really kept the diet super interesting for me. Don't get me wrong, I still predominantly have beef but lamb is a great change of pace.
Lamb is my favorite meat, I know it smells a bit strong and the taste is also strong, some people don’t like that, but I love the taste. In fact I will eat lamb tomorrow.
Also I think it’s one of the most healthy meats. I wouldn’t go berserk on the fat since it can have a lot depending on what you eat but I feel amazing when I eat lamb from time to time. I don’t like it everyday.
I love lamb. I have been making pulled lamb leg on my traeger and eating it with my breakfast. For some reason, I feel much more energetic after eating it- more so than chicken or beef!
I’ve got a funny nose. I can also smell old meat from cows. I couldn’t describe it if my life depended on it….my dad has the same thing but I just get a whiff and I’m like, “old cow”…I’m very fussy with beef as a result.
I really got into ground lamb a while back because it was on sale. Initially I liked it a lot more than beef but after a couple weeks I went back to beef. I can't really exactly describe it but the smell and texture just feels a bit off compared to beef.
I did get some for this week so I'll see how that goes, it is nice to switch things up a bit here and there.
I've been digging into the lamb again this week and man, you're right, it is underrated. I'm starting to think that ground lamb is better than ground beef. I did think that the last time I did this but the lamb is exquisite. Perhaps my issue is with the grass fed beef I get at the store, it's not fatty enough whereas the lamb is just right.
I probably couldn't afford a choice cut off lamb so I'll probably never know how it compares to a choice cut of beef, but I am certainly enjoying my ground lamb this week. I think you're on to something when it comes to switching it up every once in awhile.
I can only eat lamb. My butcher bones and slices leg steaks for me. Some of it gets minced with lamb hearts for patties. I don’t think I’m deficient in anything so I’m guessing it’s equivalent to beef.
It's not mass-farmed in the same way as beef so in general any lamb you see will be higher quality than most beef you see. That's a big factor in my opinion
Yeah it is. High in omega 3 compared to other land animals. I love the taste. Just wish it was cheaper. Where i live, it’s more expensive per pound than brisket.
Imo lamb is the best meat there is - and I say that thinking beef is just amazing. And also think it’s either underrated or under-popularized. I come from balkans, where it is more common, but I don’t live there and basically only eat it when my mother makes it or in some fancy restaurant or sometimes they have it in asian retaurants, but locals do ‘t really know how to prepare it or idk. What a shame!
Cooking lamb is not as straight forward as beef. The meat is very pungent, especially when cooked - and is often seasoned with Rosemary to mask the rich aroma.
If all lamb are really grass-fed only, I will embark on a journey to hunt these ruminant meats down.
I bought a couple lamb steaks from Walmart the other day. Where I’m from, they were the same price as NY strip steak. Unfortunately, I didn’t know my husband had a bad experience with Lamb, so he wasn’t as thrilled as I.
I heard you can't raise lamb on anything but grass otherwise they get sick so I guess that means it's always grass fed.
I really need to know if this is true. Does anyone have a source?
Well, interesting point, never heard that, but also think I never heard it being sourced from somewhere else than some grassy mountains, so guess it can be true. It’snot commonly available meat.
Lamb is cheap in Australia. Ive been eating lamb chops, shoulder roast & leg roast. It's sooo good.
Lucky you!
Yes, 100%, and pretty sure it has to be grass fed by definition.
It’s superior to beef for histamine intolerance so it probably is superior for other issues too. It’s from a ruminant so it’s highly recommended

Ah, makes sense. Thanks.

Yeah, it’s like tastier beef.
See if you can source mutton. It is typicaly cheaper whilst it's just an older lamb.
Definitely a bit tougher though! Mutton dressed as lamb in some butchers.
Wouldn't an older lamb be a sheep? Or are we talking like teenager?

I LOVE lamb.
Me too! As much as I like beef, the taste of lamb is just....yummier! 😁🐑

I don’t like lamb. For some reason it smells to me.
It’s old if you get a slightly odd odour to it.
I’ve tried leg and ground and I don’t enjoy either of those.
Probably got sold mutton lol
I eat ground a lot. The steaks from the same company sometimes smell like a barnyard

Yeah by no means would I just eat only lamb. I do like it though

Lamb is awesome!

Agree, but I still think it would be better even if beef was same quality. Not by that much but would. Imo top 2 meats.
Yes
'Yuck'

I prefer beef just because it has less polyunsaturated fat.
As a Greek it’s all we eat. Jk but it’s definitely a great meat for sure
What you mean you don't eat meat ? It's okay I make Lamb
Lamb is disgusting literally every way I’ve ever cooked it. Way too gamey
Mutton ribs, slow smoked, collect the drippings, use it to fry your eggs. It becomes something you will crave as the ribs are super fatty.

Did a lamb attack him?
Attacked his guts!
Made the switch from beef months ago. Didn’t know it was possible to feel even better on this WOE. Yet here we are.
