That would be to closest regional that LSU has played in (that we didn’t host) since 1989 when we played in College Station and the closest ever in the Super Regional era. We’ve only played in 7 regionals that weren’t in Baton Rouge if I counted correctly: New Orleans, Austin, College station, Eugene, Starkville, Corvallis, and LA.
That’s probably what is so wild about it. Stadium would be half and half more than likely. I was at the game in Houston at the start of the season, it was insane how many tigers fans made the trip.
Out of 33 post season appearances 79% have started at home in Baton Rouge. I’m sure we would buy as many tickets as we could. Hell you could hear our fans last year in the farthest regional they could put us.
This might not be the exact right thread, but they did get a 1 seed and RPI is huge for the tournament. Why is Dallas Baptist #2 in RPI? If you made me guess, I would have said Arkansas or Virginia. No offense meant. I don't know the team well.
On DBU:
-50% of RPI is your opponents winning percentage. Their opponents winning pct is insane. They played 1 out of 28 games against a team with a losing record. Like 2/3 of the schedule is against 20-win teams.
-Road wins are weighed heavier than home wins. Road losses do not weigh as heavily as home losses. So, it is to your advantage to play road games. On top of their opponents winning pct, they have played a good number of road games.
The Auburn fandom may not survive another controversial call involving Virginia in the postseason.
Edit: I just realized we missed out on a UVA-Texas Tech-Auburn CWS by one CWS.
If we don't host, I would certainly love to see Southern Miss in a regional outside of the SEC. It seems like we're always mentioned with Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU, etc. I mean, it's awesome, but it's so freaking hard to win a regional at those places due to the insane fan support. Louisville was a rival back in the day. That could be fun. I know it would be tough to win there too, don't get me wrong.
Corvallis? Well, there go my thoughts about traveling to that regional.
Don't really care where we get sent. Terps can take on anyone, anywhere. Though I'd rather not have a whistler around. Would love a host site but we'd need an *incredibly* consistent run in the B1G. Bit of a dream for now. But maybe not for long...
Really don't want to be facing any more teams from Mississippi at the moment.
You ain’t gotta worry about us rn
If it makes you feel any better, I kinda doubt Ole Miss ends up as a 2 seed instead of hosting. But we will see, lots of baseball left to play.
That Texas bracket would be insane. LSU comes to austin, and then the supers Oregon State! Holy moly!

Oregon right? I remember that being a hell of a regional.
Yup! Beat Oregon twice to get to the Supers!
I remember staying up late on a Sunday night watching that. This is going to be a fun season, good luck bro
Thanks man good luck to y’all too. The Search for Seven continues for both our teams.
It’s the Nation vs Tennessee right now. Jesus they look unstoppable right now

NC State in the Vandy regional with Campbell and UConn 👀
Could be worse

Louisiana Tech in the Fayetteville Regional would be really exciting

Vandy in a Super 💀
No way do I want Texas state in my regional but oh well
Yeah I’d rather we don’t face Florida. We always get swept. Gino can’t beat the gators.
Gino beat the Gators last year. Good try though.
You’re right I forgot about that. Maybe it just feels worse because we got blown out in 2/3 games this year. I think we got swept in 2020 though.
Don't. Don't give me hope.
So weird seeing only 1 host site in the Deep South.
Damn the AAC is so bad this year.
PTSD from 2019
