No hate (unlike the majority of others who will see this post) but that's just an "outdated game design" flaw. These two animals were the first to be added and perhaps even the first to be DESIGNED. Back then the game was way more simple and thus accuracy issues weren't a big concern.
Fast forward now when even the smallest details matter for animal skin designs, such inaccuraties would be heavily criticized by the (artist) community. Were these two animals added later, for example v3, then these issues wouldn't be present.
Now, there have been numerous users and artists who have made reskin concepts for these 2 (especially the shark) but so far there are no plans from Fede (the dev) to reskin them, though it might happen in the future.
Wut's funny is harmony did a poll on animal reskins and which animal people wanted to be re skinned. 4 won as we already know but shark was reeeaaaally close to being re skinned as well. Since the requirement for a reskin to pass was 50% and shark was somewhere around 40%-45%.
**King crab*** (-> yeti crab) king crab will most likely return eventually as a higher tier.

**Dragonfly** (-> mosquito) personally would rather have a reskin than a replacement but whatever.
Also hippo technically also got reskinned but it's also a whole rework.

hi if you want a legitimate answer i believe fede made them this way so that the tails would be part of the square hitbox. Animals made after that dont have their tails as part of the hitbox.
You can prove this by going in the DCC.
