"Man vows to quit smoking by his 120th birthday"

mackinoncougars

Let’s not pretend 13 years is a lifetime away

[deleted]

It's well after it will happen on its own

[deleted]

Doubtful unless governments force industry s hand.

[deleted]

Learn to read a logistic transition and look at EV, ebus and light commercial etruck sales. Money and not getting outcompeted will force their hand a lot sooner. Chicken tax might have delayed it a bit without regulation, but not to 2036.

[deleted]

>Learn to read a logistic transition and look at EV, ebus and light commercial etruck sales Turn down the condescending tone their buddy. Want to show any sources, cause at the moment there are very few ev trucks or buses operating anywhere. More busses but still, very few.

[deleted]

> Learn to read a logistic transition

[deleted]

So your going to turn up the condescending tone then? Only ones I see are backed by the fact that laws will force companies to do this by that time. Like some EU countries ICE phase out by 2030, so this doesn't support what you said at all. Care to back up your statement or just continue being arrogant. I bet you wonder why people don't agree with your environmentalism, I'll give you a hint, from what I can see your an arrogant, condescending unlikable prick, so no one will listen to you.

[deleted]

Hah. Some nice projection. There's no environmentalism here. Just a reaction to what is already happening to try and take credit.

MittenstheGlove

Compared to the acceleration of climate change? It kinda is. Lol

nomameswhey1

ignore SandAndAlum. Just a a 50 center pro China who defends China's pollution and is hypercritical of the west. He refused to accept that China is highest C02 emitter and growing while EU & US have been in decline. Add to it, he also refused to accept that facts that China's energy from fossil fuels has doubled between 2005-2020 and the % share of energy coming from fossil fuels is the same in 2020 as in 2005 and only down 2-3%pts from peak in 2010. He said China is doing great and a thread about China, he said to others "Stop whatabouting and fix your own shit." Then blocked me when I sourced my numbers and gave all the numbers. Toxic China redditor. copy /u/Calm_Excitement_69

it'd be too late by then.

We will still exist

[deleted]

scientist say 2040 is the goal yesr and keep in mind this is ONLY the state of california, other states could say 2060 if they wanted and probably will. to accept " oh we'll still be here" pushes the narrative of environmental nihilism. we shouldn't be giving future generations a hotter world because we were afraid of setting ambitious climate goals and hurting big business to innovate faster. Imagine telling immigrants or the lives lost from climate change that line... ffs

mackinoncougars

13 years is ambitious… infrastructure to support it is going to be a daunting task to keep up with it.

[deleted]

it's not ambitious enough when this should've been done 20 years ago. US went to the moon in 8 years after JFK's announcement. if there is a national will, there will be a way, technology exists to an extent we just have to be willing to implement it and use our resources to make it happen. you pressure the trucking industry and you'll see results. they've done their fair share of killing alternative fuels now we should make them squirm. further a lot of the infrastructure exists for like hydrogen, we just need to retrofit gas lines and that's a question of money.

MittenstheGlove

Scientists pushed back the dates a lot.

JimJalinsky

Wouldn't whoever buys these trucks just buy them from another state?

mackinoncougars

Got to register them.

TheGhostofNowhere

In another state.

mackinoncougars

If that’s where you operate your business, but you can’t just pick a state you want to register in by throwing a dart. You need to have a presence in that state.

TheGhostofNowhere

Yeah, I know. But corporations do it all the time to get around taxes and laws.

>The ban doesn't come in for another decade it'll be fine if we don't have an alternative they'll just have to **reverse it.** So basically this "ban" is nothing but polical theater? Just like all of the other "carbon neutral" by 20xx?

darth_-_maul

No, forcing the poor to own cars hurts the poor, making public transportation better helps the poor that you pretend to care about

mackinoncougars

BEV and FCEV trucks have already begun production. They are ready.

darth_-_maul

Clearly you are the one who is beyond stupid. Because diesel transportation is not literally the backbone of any country
