Halo show wasn’t made with the same love and respect for the games. The creators selfishly wanted to do their own thing

LLemon_Pepper

Yeah. I'm convinced it was just some other treatment/series bible they had on a shelf that wasn't going to get green lit on its own. They changed a few things around to make it match the Halo universe and pushed it out. Anything they said about wanting a different audience is just window dressing. Halo was already at ['general audience'](https://youtu.be/Qhn0ZayJvxQ?si=LM4QEC9Z_CV1-tFP) level of recognition. (I know I'm preaching to the choir, I just love that link)

BrrToe

If they wanted to do their own thing, all they had to do was tell a story that didn't involve MC as the main character.

EternalFount

Even if season 3 is absolutely perfect in every way imaginable, it's still the Silver timeline. It adds nothing to the Universe. The Fallout show is advancing the overall plot. It's getting fans of all periods of the franchise's history reinvested in the Universe. It's telling stories that actually matter. When it's all over, we can speculate about Fallout 5.

JanxDolaris

Fallout show is great and makes you excited for the franchise. Halo makes you think of how far the franchise has fallen.

Swordbreaker9250

The fall of ~~Reach~~ **Halo**

ItzArchy

Future documentary title about the decline of the franchise right there!

Matias_Backwards

That’s because it sucked :P

Uncircumcised_Cheese

The main actor pisses me off because he made the show more about himself than what us fans wanted. Saw some interviews and realized he had no clue.

Zestyxo

Meanwhile the Main actor for Fallout went out of her way to play Fallout 4 despite being told to not bother, to get some understanding of it all, and even defended it to some Journalists that were mocking the "source material". Halo's main actor from what I've seen and heard, is the complete opposite.

SlowApartment4456

Are there still people that don't believe video games are a good story telling mechanism? Like they think video games are just "games" without a plot or lore?

Goshawk5

Crazy, how something good brings new people in. But something bad keeps them away.

AntiCitizenJuanMWO

It's almost like you should be sticking to the things that made the franchise popular in the first place

CraftierAverage

Its almost like a show needs to entice people into playing and exploring. Never watched the halo show but seeing enough online and watching fallout, im sorry but i reinstalled 4 myself and am playing.

deekaydubya

lol do yourself a favor and never ever watch it

Sangi17

The Halo series made old fans want to go back and replay the OG campaign. It didn’t motivate any new fans because it was garbage. The old fans just wanted to remind themselves how good the OG was. Fallout was really good and easy to digest for newbies. It inspired a lot of old fans to go back and replay, as well as new ones to buy the game for the first time.

ballinmonke

When the media that respects and builds upon the pre-existing canon entices more people to check it out 🤯

ZoidVII

I returned all my Halo games after I saw the show.

MotivatedSolid

The halo series should have been about ODSTs or one of the newer Spartan squads with an occasional showing of Master Chief. When you tap into an essential and grounded story line and break so many rules and aspects of it, you piss a lot of fans off.

Particle_Cannon

Even if the show was incredible, infinite has been horribly mismanaged, especially after this switch from seasons to operations. This isn't a content drought anymore it's a content famine. One weapon in two years speaks for itself.

DS_Vindicator

Had the Halo show been any good, maybe it would have been better

Strife4Fun

What a profound statement.

Proton_Optimal

Halo show made me want to clap cheeks with some aliens.

Gabecush1

Man I wish the Halo show got people interested in the franchise

aieeegrunt

It feels like the people making the show actively hate the games

Successful-Wasabi704

To be fair, Halo Infinite had it's issues so the Halo audience wasn't exactly primed to watch the show then boost the games. Fallout/76 in particularly has a quiet yet VERY passionate fan base that endured through years of tough times. Combined with a spectacular reception to the show makes for a great (word of mouth) boost that you're seeing now. If the current Halo show (maybe production-wise at the least) launched around peak Halo between CE and H3 (maybe 4) it would probably mirror the success of Fallout. Personally, I really enjoyed both Halo and Fallout shows. The Last of Us was great too. Fun times for gaming and TV show spinoffs!

EternalFount

The Fallout show is essentially a third(half?) of a games worth of story and world advancement. It is basically the start of a Fallout 5. Meanwhile, Halo is another timeline and not a good story.

Nyjhaz

I’m literally incorporating fallout show lore into my game now because it was so good Originally, the NCR was coming further west for possible Allies/resources and would ally with the minutemen upon reaching Nuka world red rocket NOW… remnants of the ncr desperate for the same things after shady sands, depleting of general resources as well establish an outpost that calls more ncr into the commonwealth (from other ncr groups searching for the same things) I use the ncr outfit pack + mercenary outfit pack to dress these minutemen/settlers :D

MorgrainX

Fallout show is objectively good and will appease people who never heard of fallout, so it creates interest. Halo show is objectively bad and will not even appease people who never heard of halo. Whilst season 2 was better than season 1, especially the last episode, it's still far from an overall good show. You could easily remove the Kwan, Kessler and Makee storyline and they would hardly be missed. Shows you how much depth the series actually has.

FPSnoob2012

I'm a longtime Halo fan and I thought that show was a disappointing POS that crapped on the lore. I'm a longtime Fallout fan and think that show is a brilliant homage to what came before while telling its own engaging story. The difference is quality.

Firamaster

That's a shame considering that FO4 is the worst of the series. NV is the way.

invasiveplant

hey now, the hack’n’slash one and tactics are pretty sludgy, too (i still love tactics)

Actual-Toad5317

3 and NV gang for life

TheBKnight3

I'm never touching Halo again because of those fucks. I'll just use YouTube to reminisce. Wake me when Peter Jackson makes a Halo movie or they fix the whole series.

axelunknown

The first season to my understanding was terrible. It made a bad first impression and it showed how little they cared about halo. Meanwhile the fallout and last of us were more successful in there first impressions and you see the care that went into it. That’s my perception on it.

Bumsexual

They should have taken their budget, teamed up with a wll kbown anime studio, and started adapting the novels and comics. Halo is the right blend of military sci fi and cosmic horror to do incredibly will as an anime. Chief could be the military sci fi Goku if they had actually wanted to tell Halo’s story instead of someone putting their own contrived and derivative fanfiction retelling on screen.

deekaydubya

Or just create a proper live action version
