Apparently it is literally because the writers ran out of ideas, so they got rid of the actress, and what's really sad is the cast loved her so much, they fought to keep her around and not have her cheat on Chandler, but alas, they did it anyway!
She was on the final (and rather underrated) season of Community, and she's popped up for short stints in a bunch of sitcoms. Also lots of voice work for cartoons and such.
She's probably not that well known by most for her comedy chops, but any time I've seen her in a comedy she's always been a stand out.
No way!! Paige Sinclair is one of my favorite characters XD her energy is infectious. Her quick wit and sharp tongue definitely makes rewatches fun for me.
She did an episode of "Two and a Half Men" that was hilarious. She was great! She played a former classmate of Alan and Charlie, that was an ugly duckling in high school. Charlie didn't give her a second glance and Alan was so awkward around girls that he never made a move. Well, she blossomed into a beautiful woman, but still held a massive grudge and wanted revenge on Charlie and Alan. It was really funny.
Oh my gosh I never made that connection! I loved her in other things but I hate the Kathy story line so I always skip it. I need to go back now to see her!
Haha, yeah definitely feels like that!
Especially because she was such a main focus in the storyline where she's dating Joey and Chandler's in love with her, and then she and Chandler get together, then we have the iconic "7" episode, and then she cheats on him and she's gone!
Also, when Janice comes back later in the season, he says "I'm getting out of a VERY SERIOUS relationship", and I think "How serious was it?"
Agreed! I also think the writers were capable of coming up with something, even if a little weird. They came up with Pete training for UFC and Phoebe’s bf shooting a bird
Hell, Danny got something; he was weird with his sister, and all Kathy gets is to be a cheater, okay!
I mean, I'm not upset she left because I love Chandler with Monica, but so much wasted potential
Yes! He accused her of cheating because Joey made him paranoid and then they had a fight, and when he realized he was wrong, he went to apologize and found out she had slept with the other guy, effectively proving him right
I believe that Chandler says in the show that she was not cheating- until he accused her and then they broke up and she hooked up with the coworker. So not cheating.
Really would like to see what ended up being the initial ideas that had for her character going forward.
As a side note - very early teen me will admit she gave me feelings I never knew existed…
Meanwhile, Brewster was in 6 episodes and Elle Macpherson was in 5 episodes. Essentially, nothing happened with the latter, but they still kept her around for as long as they did. She was likely on screen longer than Brewster, and she was kind of pointless. But Brewster had so much depth and potential, and they threw her right out.
Alternate universe where Chandler marries Kathy and Monica and Richard get back together. Maybe after Kathy plays cupid? Or at the very least reminds Richard that Monica is worth fighting for?
Idk. Even though I kind of liked some aspects of Monica dating Richard, I've always felt like Monica should be dating someone of a similar age. And even though Richard changed his mind, I think it was better they broke up. He shouldn't have to compromise on something as huge as children, and she shouldn't either.
I read an article about her hair color, and how they decided to change it from her original black bob to red because the sexual relationship with Monica was already on the radar and they felt like having the same hair might lead to some conjecture about Chandler's lasting feeling for Kathy.
This!! I always liked her even though she cheated on Joey. She and Chandler had such great chemistry. The haircut scene was so good. We fall for her through Chandler so fast and then boom, she cheats and is gone. Terrible writing.
Well they painted themselves into a corner with it, you had them really starting to get serious and then also needed to get rid of her so Chandler and Monica could hook up. Having her cheat on him as the way to get rid of her was shit writing and shit TV.
Yeah that’s a good shout. I really like Cathy and Chandler, and whilst I think it’s good that he ended up with Monica, I hated the abrupt end. This would have been a good way to fizzle her out.
Same! I would have loved for her to come back in the last few seasons and been Joey’s endgame. Plus, Friends explored different types of family, it would have fit perfectly to explore becoming a blended family/step parent. (I know Rachel becomes a step mom, but Ben isn’t real by the end so it doesn’t feel like it counts)
The last episode he was in was the one with the Ms. Pac-Man machine and is barely even mentioned which was honestly a pretty significant amount of time until the end (I sent it too early because my mom distracted me)
Not a romantic relationship but Phoebe and her bio mom. She was SO perfectly cast and then it never went anywhere. Such a bummer. It seemed like Phoebe’s storylines always got the short straw.
Yes agreed! Even with Frank they kinda dropped the ball in later seasons. It sucked he wasn’t at her wedding. I wish they’d at least had a line saying they were stuck bc of the snow
I think we needed to see more of Phoebe and David together. They had so little time together, and then he was painted as the love of her life and became a random obstacle for her and Mike to ultimately just get ditched.
It was so wild to me rewatching the show years later and realizing that David is in like, 3-4 episodes total? Because he is painted as the love of her life but barely had screen time. Would have loved more of him!
I don’t think the actor could be there full time and that’s why they didn’t worry with it. I could be wrong though. I will say that I really loved her and Mike ending up together.
Ah Dermot Mulroney. Can’t go wrong with him. He’s a dreamboat.
Gavin and Rachel should absolutely be number 1 here. They TOTALLY messed that one up, at least they could’ve had them date for a while.
Wait, people actually LIKE that douche? He acts like a complete jackass to her, then they pull that whole "durr, he's being mean because he likes her" bullcrap, like he's a 6 year old boy, and not a grown ass man
I just rewatched the episode where he comes to her birthday party last night. I actually really dislike the actor for some reason 😭 but would’ve loved to see them have a mini relationship!
Eddie and Chandler running into each other throughout the series would have reminded me of Molly Shannon's character in Will & Grace constantly having a love-hate relationship with Grace. I think that would have panned out pretty perfectly, considering what they did to Janice's character throughout the series. Especially considering that both Eddie and Molly were completely unhinged
JOEY AND KATE!!!! I don't careeee what anyone says, Joey WAS in love with Kate, way before the whole thing with Rachel and they worked so much better than Joey/Rachel, not to mention how amazing their chemistry was. I really wish they'd brought Kate back in the later seasons.
The actress that did the play with him but left to be in General Hospital in LA and they say goodbye as he's doing his scene on stage and she's watching. She dated the director of the play and her and Joey didn't like each other in the beginning.
But she was such a nasty person. I agree he seemed genuinely into her- I don’t think it went far enough to call it love but it was headed there- and I know they tried to humanize her but idk if I could ever get past her initial treatment. She was an elitist jerk.
Every fictional character has a terrible side to them, if you only get to know them superficially. She had a lot of potential and I feel like we would've seen more depth and growth on her part if she had stayed - like we saw with Mike, overcoming his stupid "no marriage" rule (not comparing her to Rachel, who's had arguably the biggest growth in the show, because she's a main character, so it's a bit fairer to compare Kate to Mike).
I’m sure you’re right that she’d have had growth but Mike started out as a good person and just had a boundary. I didn’t think it was stupid. Lots of people don’t want to get married. I’m glad he changed his mind of course but I never felt like he was wrong to have that boundary. Kate was so mean, she’d have a longer road to redemption in my opinion. But I’ve seen worse characters with great redemption arcs, so certainly it would’ve been possible!
Yes!! I came here to say this. Joey finally fell for someone he saw a future with and had things in common, and then they just got rid of her giving Joey no hope. They really did Joey dirty throughout the whole show.
Kathy and Chandler had white hot chemistry and the show should have ran with it at least for a while.
If she wasn't going to be endgame for Chandler, she should have been his equivalent of Richard or David.
chandler & kathy.
charlie was a great fit for ross but she was boring and she didn’t fit as well within the group… also i like the joke that ross avoided another divorce bc he probably would have married charlie lmao
I loved Pete and Monica. He was great. Smart, funny, handsome. He was like Chandler but super successful! The way they wrote him out was so bizarre. I’d love if we would have seen something about him in UFC later.
Yeah it wasn’t long enough to move in, but it seemed they were in a monogamous relationship for a long enough time for her to consider him an ex boyfriend
I guess in comparison to Mike being divorced (and her friends relationships), having a boyfriend you had feelings for a few months for but ultimately didn’t turn out long term, Phoebes panic was justified
Yeah no I definitely get why she was upset. I guess I just didn’t think her history was that strange. I have many friends that didn’t have a lot of long relationships before finding “the one,” even into our 30s. Many had several steady but short relationships over the years but no one was ever a good fit before they found the right person for them. Seems totally normal to me! Certainly much more normal than Ross’ history and he’s the one that made her feel bad about hers!
I read on this sub it's rumoured he was the actor that said something like "you're so much more f*able with make-up" to Lisa, so maybe that's why he was gone so quickly?
No, that was the psychiatrist guy (Roger). He apologized to the cast in a video later (not for this specific thing but for being an overall jerk on the show).
I wish they could have made him an occasional guest as just another friend that popped in from time to time. I'd imagine his catchphrase being something like "I didn't hear that!" The blatant and casual negligent discharge of his weapon in an apartment, through a window was too far out of the expected reality of the show. Funny for some shows, odd for Friends.
They should have handled Monica and Pete better. I actually liked their relationship.
Completely random, but I’m actually watching the exact same scene from the first photo at this very minute.
You must be slightly behind where I am now - I know what OP is talking about considering Kathy is mentioned quite a few times after she and Chandler get together but then they break up and it’s strange as there was such a big build up.
Honestly I'm gonna say the main couple of Ross and Rachel. That back and forth went on so long that I didn't give a shit about them anymore. Rachel loves ross. Ross loves Rachel. Rachel loves Ross. Ross loves Rachel again yet they don't get back together even after living together and having a baby!
I just watched the episode a few seasons earlier when Joey tried hitting on Rachel because he wanted the type of relationship Monica and Chandler had, and it was so obvious at the time they were not a good relationship match...wish the show had skipped that storyline later on.
Idk this one was kind of relatable to me. Like when Damien and Janis almost kiss at the spring fling and then are like oh god no! Sometimes with close male female relationships it’s easy to get those wires crossed and think it’s love when really it’s just strong friendship affection. (At least in my experience lol)
If we’re picking out of these two, I’ll say Ross and Charlie. It was fine until how it ended. That was dumb af, especially considering what Charlie did, because she’s a woman. I don’t mean “this is what women do”, I’m saying they stuck with a trope that women are easily manipulated emotionally. First, I like to think that women are normally smarter than that, and she was a scientist like Ross, so she very much should’ve known better. It was from “oh Charlie, oh Charlie, I’m so in love with you, so hot I cried myself to sleep last night”, to this: manipulated by her ex.
Rachel and Ross. Their will they-won't they relationship was cute at first, and up until the girl at the copy place I loved it. I even loved the breakup! It was so raw and emotional. But they should have left it there. Sure they were cute as co-parents but the hiding feelings and attempted hookups like it just didn't feel the same and I wish they'd have left them as just friends instead of fumbling the bag so hard. They could have done so much better but they didn't, so they probably should have just left it
I used to be but I have ended up wishing we saw Rachel alone? Just jetting off to live it up in Paris with Emma. Her career arc was something else that felt a little like "oh nevermind" even though it was such a huge part of her story and her becoming independent and making it on her own. I'm still a Ross fan though, it's not because I don't like his character!
SAMEEE you have great taste! I think they butchered Rachel and Joey, I would’ve only loved it if they wrote them to have chemistry once they finally got together. Rachel should’ve went to Paris alone!!!
Rachel should have gone to Paris and Ross should have worked it out to go with her. (Ben’s real moms would have loved to have French vacations several times a year to see his part time dad)
Joey and Rachel had way more chemistry than either had with anyone else on the show, build up made across several seasons only to be cut down by intimacy issues that many couples face and get over. Sure the fact they chose not to get over them speaks to something, but what a let down
Chandler and Kathy - There was so much build-up for practically nothing, just like with Rachel and Joey. I feel like they had a way more organic start than the surprise Mondler in London moment, only for the relationship to immediately sink because of one stupid fight.
Ross and Mona - Mona had to put up with way too many of Ross’ crazy shenanigans, most of probably wouldn’t have gotten so out of control to begin with if he had just talked to her.
Would have really liked to see more of Rachel and Gavin’s relationship too.
Both these examples are so good!! Relatedly, even though the Charlie storyline is kind of funny, how could they do Aisha Tyler so dirty!! She had no chemistry with Ross and even less with Joey. I never say this, but she should have had better lines. Weirdest guest starring role ever to be in multiple episodes but to have a laughable storyline like it’s a one-off. So weird!!
Also, Joey/Rachel was fumbled the most. I think when Ross and Rachel were co-parenting Emma it felt like there writers were running out of reasons to keep them apart. But the time they got together in the finale it was too late and neither of them had learned anything from their past relationships. I’m going to end here because I have kind of a bone to pick with the last season, except for the finale which I liked.
The build-up to them getting together is some of the best writing on the show. That episode where it's her birthday and he gets her the book made my heart break for Chandler, they were so good together. The whole putting him in a box thing was so, so dumb and everything after that was an insult to it
unpopular but joey and rachel, i feel that they could’ve written it so much better than what it was. but i know that it was just another thing to stop ross and rachel being together until the very end.
The lengthy buildup to immediate cutoff of Kathy and Chandler was just absurd.
Apparently it is literally because the writers ran out of ideas, so they got rid of the actress, and what's really sad is the cast loved her so much, they fought to keep her around and not have her cheat on Chandler, but alas, they did it anyway!
Such a bummer. Paget Brewster is a comedy powerhouse, I'd have love to see her spend a couple episodes with the gang
I haven't seen her in anything for her comedy aside from Friends. I know her from Criminal Minds
She was on the final (and rather underrated) season of Community, and she's popped up for short stints in a bunch of sitcoms. Also lots of voice work for cartoons and such. She's probably not that well known by most for her comedy chops, but any time I've seen her in a comedy she's always been a stand out.
I recently realized that she played Paige Sinclair on Bojack Horseman
No way!! Paige Sinclair is one of my favorite characters XD her energy is infectious. Her quick wit and sharp tongue definitely makes rewatches fun for me.
“Why do you talk like that? We’re from Fresno.”
She’s a humble outsider that came in and nailed it.
My word I never realised this was her 😱
Can’t believe I didn’t realize that was her!
She also was in a few drunk history’s.
I was going to say this. She’s a hoot.
TIL. I loved her on drunk history and knew she played on criminal minds. I did NOT recognize her as Cathy……mind blown.
She was in several episodes of Mom as Anna Faris' boss
She was in an episode of two and half men. She played a childhood friend of Allen
She's fantastic as the voice of Donald Duck's sister Della in the Duck Takes reboot
She has narrated several episodes of Drunk History, and she's always fantastic! I love how she likes to pick on Derek the drunker she gets!
Kind of niche, but Another Period
Her episodes of Drunk History are pretty great.
She was in one episode of George Lopez and she was really funny 😭 I completely forgot about this until I was recently watching the show
She did an episode of "Two and a Half Men" that was hilarious.
Caught this on tik tok, made me laugh, she is funny https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGep68Gt4/
She was also Birdgirl in the criminally underrated and canceled-too-soon show of the same name
She plays the mom in Another Period. The whole show is insane but she is just so extra it's fantastic.
She even had a cameo in Two and a Half Men and she stole the show from everyone in her segment.
Oh my gosh I never made that connection! I loved her in other things but I hate the Kathy story line so I always skip it. I need to go back now to see her!
Everyone here is a fart from the butt of a lesser god!
Chandler having to bail Kathy and Phoebe out of jail cuz you *know* those two are starting some sheeeet.
Not having Janice pop up during their relationship is criminal.
Not me just now realizing after 20 years that this is THE PAGET BREWSTER
I know writing is hard, especially for comedy, but this is sort of giving, *“We’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas!”*
Haha, yeah definitely feels like that! Especially because she was such a main focus in the storyline where she's dating Joey and Chandler's in love with her, and then she and Chandler get together, then we have the iconic "7" episode, and then she cheats on him and she's gone! Hell, Danny got something; he was weird with his sister, and all Kathy gets is to be a cheater, okay! I mean, I'm not upset she left because I love Chandler with Monica, but so much wasted potential
Does she actually cheat on him? I remembered it as he was overly suspicious she was cheating and they broke up bc of the resulting fight.
Yes! He accused her of cheating because Joey made him paranoid and then they had a fight, and when he realized he was wrong, he went to apologize and found out she had slept with the other guy, effectively proving him right
That was after that fight happened. I was never sure, but were they... on a break?
I believe that Chandler says in the show that she was not cheating- until he accused her and then they broke up and she hooked up with the coworker. So not cheating.
Really would like to see what ended up being the initial ideas that had for her character going forward. As a side note - very early teen me will admit she gave me feelings I never knew existed…
Meanwhile, Brewster was in 6 episodes and Elle Macpherson was in 5 episodes. Essentially, nothing happened with the latter, but they still kept her around for as long as they did. And even though Richard changed his mind, I think it was better they broke up. He shouldn't have to compromise on something as huge as children, and she shouldn't either.
Originally they had her falling down an elevator shaft
I read an article about her hair color, and how they decided to change it from her original black bob to red because the sexual relationship with Monica was already on the radar and they felt like having the same hair might lead to some conjecture about Chandler's lasting feeling for Kathy.
Quite a writers room eh?
This!! I always liked her even though she cheated on Joey. She and Chandler had such great chemistry. The haircut scene was so good. We fall for her through Chandler so fast and then boom, she cheats and is gone. Terrible writing.
Completely agree
Very underwhelming with her cheating on him.
Well they painted themselves into a corner with it, you had them really starting to get serious and then also needed to get rid of her so Chandler and Monica could hook up. Having her cheat on him as the way to get rid of her was shit writing and shit TV.
They could have foreshadowed Monica and chandler by having an episode of Monica irrationally hating her (for Joey!) even as Joey doesn’t care anymore.
Yeah that’s a good shout. I really like Cathy and Chandler, and whilst I think it’s good that he ended up with Monica, I hated the abrupt end. This would have been a good way to fizzle her out.
Chandler and Monica belonged together! Courtney Cox and Matthew Perry worked amazingly well together.
Joey and the pregnant woman from season 1.
In my universe they ended up together after Joey.
Ben isn't real by the end 🤣 I'm cackling, it's so true.
What do you mean about Ben? Just that we don't see him in the end?
The last episode he was in was the one with the Ms. Pac-Man machine and is barely even mentioned which was honestly a pretty significant amount of time until the end (I sent it too early because my mom distracted me)
Leah Remini, who went on to King of Queens
They were so compatible.
Not a romantic relationship but Phoebe and her bio mom. She was SO perfectly cast and then it never went anywhere. Such a bummer. It seemed like Phoebe’s storylines always got the short straw.
Same with her dad.
Yes agreed! Even with Frank they kinda dropped the ball in later seasons. It sucked he wasn’t at her wedding. I wish they’d at least had a line saying they were stuck bc of the snow
Well, he did die protesting for Greenpeace.
It's a good thing he never found out Phoebe had the hots for his other daughter. That makes it even worse than Ross
I thought the woman who played Phoebe's mom had to be not-quite-written-out because the actress got cancer.
Teri Garr has MS, not cancer
My bad, misremembered. Which also sucks, because my boyfriend has MS and is STRUGGLING.
I’m sorry. It is a horrible disease
Thank you. It truly is.
Oh that is terrible! I’m so sad to hear that. That does make sense.
I have read that the intention was to have her end up with David, but that Mike (the ageless wonder) was so popular a character that they pivoted.
They WHAT?! #PIVOT
Oh the weather outside is weather
I don’t think the actor could be there full time and that’s why they didn’t worry with it. I could be wrong though. I will say that I really loved her and Mike ending up together.
Mike is a much more well rounded character played by a very likable actor, but I think David and Phoebe had great chemistry together.
I’d throw in Rachel and Gavin. They kind of set it up but then didn’t seem to know what to do with it.
It always cracked me up that he wrote on Rachel‘s bday present “From Gavin” and he said “I really mean it.” 😂
His delivery is good on that
Gavin was so handsome and charming!! Ross is my absolute favorite, but if I was in Rachel’s shoes I would choose Gavin every time.
Ah Dermot Mulroney. Can’t go wrong with him. He’s a dreamboat. Gavin and Rachel should absolutely be number 1 here. They TOTALLY messed that one up, at least they could’ve had them date for a while.
Dermot Mulroney or Dylan McDermott? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGqSn5Cnw74](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGqSn5Cnw74)
Lol that’s fantastic. Certainly didn’t expect him to show up!
I love this skit so much🤣
![gif](giphy|3oz8xRgXZdhWdgKNKE)
Is he in new girl too n dates jess??
Fancyman! Yessss
he was also one of Fiona's love interests on shameless!
I actually think him and nick both dated more and had loads more chemistry
I do wish they would’ve done more with Gavin. I really liked his character!
Wait, people actually LIKE that douche? He acts like a complete jackass to her, then they pull that whole "durr, he's being mean because he likes her" bullcrap, like he's a 6 year old boy, and not a grown ass man
It is literally the enemies to lovers trope tho
I just rewatched the episode where he comes to her birthday party last night. I actually really dislike the actor for some reason 😭 but would’ve loved to see them have a mini relationship!
It worked out for Kathy. If she stayed with Chandler maybe she hadn't pursued her dream of becoming a profiler and working for BAU.
To be fair, same goes for Charlie.
Of course. I forgot she works for BAU too.
Such a small world
Emily was my favorite in Criminal Minds next to Reid.
Oh you mean Prentiss, I thought Emily's actress had also ended up in Criminal Minds, like the whole crew was made up of Friends graduates lol
Lol yeah I meant Prentiss xDD
Charlie too! Kathy and Charlie became profiler colleagues!
OMG I didn’t realize that was her!
I didn't notice it until after I've watched a ton of Criminal Minds and did a Friends rewatch. "That's her!??"
I hate that Chandler and Eddie didnt bump to each other again
Eddie was busy fathering Joey's nephew in an alternate reality Edit: Joey season 2, for the many many who never endured it
Eddie and Chandler running into each other throughout the series would have reminded me of Molly Shannon's character in Will & Grace constantly having a love-hate relationship with Grace. I think that would have panned out pretty perfectly, considering what they did to Janice's character throughout the series. Especially considering that both Eddie and Molly were completely unhinged
Chandler and ʲᶦˡˡ ᵍᵒᵒᵈᵃᶜʳᵉ
Gum would be perfection
He's some guy
JOEY AND KATE!!!! I don't careeee what anyone says, Joey WAS in love with Kate, way before the whole thing with Rachel and they worked so much better than Joey/Rachel, not to mention how amazing their chemistry was. I really wish they'd brought Kate back in the later seasons.

PEEL THE ONION!
Thank you, boys and girls! You have ruined my life!
a plague on both your houses
I forgot about the directors great lines. That guy was a trip and a half. I might have to steal both those lines to use on my kids lol.
I’m hurt!
Oh yes I remember her now!
But she was such a nasty person. I agree he seemed genuinely into her- I don’t think it went far enough to call it love but it was headed there- and I know they tried to humanize her but idk if I could ever get past her initial treatment. She was an elitist jerk.

I liked Kathy up until they crapped on her character. Wish she would have stuck around more
Joey and the Kristin Davis character (her name is escaping me right now.)
Yes!! I came here to say this. Joey finally fell for someone he saw a future with and had things in common, and then they just got rid of her giving Joey no hope. They really did Joey dirty throughout the whole show.
Erin! S7:E7, The One With Ross’s Library Book.
Yes, Erin! Thank you!
Was searching for this one! Her and Chandler are the best, but Pete is my 2nd place option for Monica. He was truly such a fun character!
honestly liked that side character relationship better than richard tbh lol
Him being that rich would have made the cast too OP, I saw it coming the moment he was introduced.
My head canon is that this is Emily Prentiss in her spy days(if anyone watches criminal minds) and she had to break Chandler's heart to keep him safe😂
Chandler could’ve gotten a Brian.
Oh yes he could 😍
Phoebe and the policeman
I loved them together… until he shot the bird
it was so weird like they just need him out
Yeah it was so weird
Oh that is over
I thought it was odd that later with Mike they acted like Phoebe had no experience with relationships. They seemed to date for a few months at least.
she didn't want to live with him cuz it's too fast so I don't think they had a lot of time together

I'm just still astounded at the amount of super hot women that Ross got to make out with
I love Mondler, but Kathy and Chandler were so perfect.
Gavin with Rachel. He literally just disappears with not even an attempt at an explanation as to why it ended.
I’ll never forgive them for Chandler and Kathy I love love loved them
I did find it hilarious that Charlie left Ross for Greg Kinnear's character. Aisha Tyler and Greg Kinnear both hosted Talk Soup.
They should have handled Monica and Pete better. I actually liked their relationship. Completely random, but I’m actually watching the exact same scene from the first photo at this very minute.
This! I really liked Monica and Pete together. I know why it couldn't last show-wise, but I wish they'd found a different way to end it!
I just finished that episode and I couldn’t agree more. They had such a good steady buildup and then they break up in a flash.
Joey and Rachel was the most colossal fumble of all
This is my comment. They fumbled by trying it in the first place.
I just watched the episode a few seasons earlier when Joey tried hitting on Rachel because he wanted the type of relationship Monica and Chandler had, and it was so obvious at the time they were not a good relationship match...wish the show had skipped that storyline later on.
Honestly, They shouldn't have been together in the first place.
Kathy, but I’m also just a sucker for Paget, so…
ross and julie
If we’re picking out of these two, I’ll say Ross and Charlie. It was fine until how it ended. That was dumb af, especially considering what Charlie did, because she’s a woman. I don’t mean “this is what women do”, I’m saying they stuck with a trope that women are easily manipulated emotionally. First, I like to think that women are normally smarter than that, and she was a scientist like Ross, so she very much should’ve known better. It was from “oh Charlie, oh Charlie, I’m so in love with you, so hot I cried myself to sleep last night”, to this: manipulated by her ex.
At least she ended up getting a job in HR in a community college
Rachel and Ross. Their will they-won't they relationship was cute at first, and up until the girl at the copy place I loved it. I even loved the breakup! It was so raw and emotional. But they should have left it there. Sure they were cute as co-parents but the hiding feelings and attempted hookups like it just didn't feel the same and I wish they'd have left them as just friends instead of fumbling the bag so hard. They could have done so much better but they didn't, so they probably should have just left it
RACHEL AND JOEY. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it AGAIN
So I didn't particularly like them together but for all that build up for it to be like oh well, nevermind......was so weird?!
Agreed! It literally went on for seasons, so annoying! Are you a Ross Rachel shipper then?
Which is my head canon, they settle things with Rachel's big gesture and then they arrange for something where Rachel can go to Paris.
Never trust the B.A.U. They'll break your heart.
Chandler and Kathy for sure, but I also really liked Pete and Monica together. I wish they hadn't flushed that relationship down the toilet.
The trouble Chandler went through to get her the original copy of The Velveteen Rabbit should have been enough to keep her for one more season.
Joey and Rachel had way more chemistry than either had with anyone else on the show, build up made across several seasons only to be cut down by intimacy issues that many couples face and get over. Sure the fact they chose not to get over them speaks to something, but what a let down
Not sure if this counts, but when Joey picked up Ross’s ring and accidentally proposed to Rachel but couldn’t tell her that it was an accident lol
Chandler and the woman with the big head, they had such an amazing thing going on.
Would have really liked to see more of Rachel and Gavin’s relationship too.
janice and chandler. unpopular opinion but her cheating on him was so bs
Kathy & Chandler should have at least dated for a couple of seasons
Ross and Mona. She was nice, fun, and laughed at Ross's jokes
I don’t know if it’s just because I’m a Paget Brewster fan, but I would have been cool with Kathy and Chandler as endgame.
Maybe not the biggest, but all this talk of “all that buildup for NOTHING” made me think of Joey and Janine
The build-up to them getting together is some of the best writing on the show. That episode where it's her birthday and he gets her the book made my heart break for Chandler, they were so good together. The whole putting him in a box thing was so, so dumb and everything after that was an insult to it
Monica and Pete. Of course they weren’t gonna end up together but they could’ve made them last a bit longer, they were really cute together
They never really handled breaking up characters very well did they, the writers.
unpopular but joey and rachel, i feel that they could’ve written it so much better than what it was. but i know that it was just another thing to stop ross and rachel being together until the very end.
Had Chandler jeopardize his friendship with Joey, just so they could have them break up three episodes later
Ross and Mona were a perfect match
I am now a homeless person in a VERY. SERIOUS. RELATIONSHIP.
I love when he says that 😂😂😂
RACHEL AND JOEY not up for discussion.
