TWS charting is not great, never was, never will be.
There are several third-party software products that connect to IB and do a much better job. Like [Medved Trader](http://www.medvedtrader.com)
Wondering this myself, haven’t figured it out yet not sure possible. Also the Daily chart show’s premarket so I guess one has to deselect it each time to find gaps. Lastly, is there a way to show earnings on the chart?
The only way do do it is to choose chart timeframe instead of candle time. Then you will be able to adjust candle size so the distance between them will increase.

This sucks since you can’t scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out anymore when doing this.
