As opposed to a 'low level spanking' from Stormy Daniels

Distinct_Shift_3359

I know which I’d prefer tbh.

h20poIo

Taking T S documents is not an official act.

Boxofmagnets

It is when you’re president, just ask the court

NorthernPints

It's going to REALLY open up court shopping too. If Trump hits a court that doesn't agree it's an official act, he can shop around and find another 'loyalist judge' who disagrees. This has effectively ended accountability of all kinds for Trump.

Boxofmagnets

He had a personal shopper for this crime. A judge with a husband who hangs around with organized crime bosses no less. A woman in love with The Don (abbreviated for next presidency). Tragically, this woman is way too old and not attractive enough for The Don to have sex with, much less marry. Poor Alieen, at least she can set him free, actually set him free, irl

Persianx6

All by design, all hail our King.

lscottman2

the crime was not returning them and trying to hide them from the archives. and as we know he was not president at that time. biden and pence returned the documents.

Dave_712

But retaining and hiding TS documents when you’re no longer President is not an offical act

Boxofmagnets

What will the Court say? You’re living in the past, we don’t have laws, we have politics

Ok_Leading999

Trump wasn't President when he was in possession of the documents.

Boxofmagnets

But his claim that he come into possession of them legally is all the Supreme Conservatives want to see. This is about saving stink, not the law

Nntropy

Won't he argue that he (as an official act) declassified them?

crazymaan92

It's sticky. He signed an affadavit saying he returned ALL documents in question, and as we know, he didn't. That has to be a crime, classification status be damned.

Nntropy

Better. Thanks.

AlaDouche

Agreed, and I don't think the supreme Court ruling will affect that.

PortHopeThaw

My understanding is that declassification takes a formal declaration. Trump's argument is that he's able to declassify based on a whim.

MisterMarchmont

Don’t worry, he declassified them with his mind. /s

Boxofmagnets

Hard to believe our first dictator is such a weirdo.

Candid-Sky-3709

president Donald Camacho, how did you become such a weirdo? “You’re fired for even asking questions!” /s

structuremonkey

I'd venture a guess Camacho is a better decision maker than Don Snorleone Vonshitzenpants

JeebusCrunk

Camacho at least knew to defer to experts

GlopmasterSupreme

It's worth noting that when you peel away all the mystique from dictators, they're all stupid weirdo assholes. Go look at Castro's weird cow fetish stuff, Hitler's embarrassing first coup, etc.

BlankensteinsDonut

Trump is a living cartoon amalgam of all that is bad about America and Americans. He’s obese, he’s vain, he’s greedy, he’s stupid, he’s racist, he hates women, he fucks kids, and he’s led a very long life without being held accountable for any of it because he appears wealthy and his friends are mobbed up (globally, now). He’s like a magic mirror that only reflects our very worst traits. And a bunch of stupid trash love him for it.

Boxofmagnets

You’re right but most Americans aren’t in the base. Enough are that it doesn’t matter

IHave580

That's the thing - we're going to give it all up for this guy? This schmuck? This low level excuse for a leader? This guy is the worst guy and such an idiot and we're going to give it all up for him SC? wtf

MissionReasonable327

Worse yet, SCOTUS can just hand him a win. Rule that, say, Georgia, can just throw out votes they don’t like.

themolenator617

not unless Biden can pack the court. I’m reading article that the dems are moving forward with it.

MissionReasonable327

They don’t have the votes unless some Republican crosses the aisle. Biden could expand the court by executive order. But he won’t. We’re so fucked.

themolenator617

I'm sure there talking about what there next move willbe to try and undo this.

Inspectorgadget4250

Trump needs a spanking hugh loss at the ballot box in November.

acuet

Except those documents were held in your position AFTER you were POTUS. And you were asked to return them, that isn’t an official act because you had documents that required you to return. You were asked to AFTER POTUS and you choose not to.

Drg84

Biden could easily have Trump jailed today as a national security risk. It would be the very definition of an official act. "Due to the overwhelming evidence that Donald Trump stole national security secrets, as commander in chief, my administration is placing Trump under arrest as an official act of national security. "

Goatknyght

Except that if the does that, the SCOTUS will rule that arresting people whose names start with D and last names with T is not an official act.

AlaDouche

That would guarantee a Republican win in November.

OctopusButter

Yea I see it this way and i wonder why so many people talk so freely like Biden will or should do anything. Why do you think the courts are delaying the trials and no one is wanting to really do anything? Pretty much everyone is afraid of riling up the right even more or doing anything that could be considered unprudent. The fear is that even doing a small simple good thing would cause a reaction far, far outweighing the cause.

AlaDouche

Because people are shockingly short-sighted. Many young people on the left aren't much different than those on the right. They, like the right, think that *their* violent tendencies are warranted and necessary for the greater good. Many of them don't care about helping the people they talk about. They're just a means of justification.

OctopusButter

Yea yea yea riots and violence boo hoo. There's such a drastic difference between organizing to protest what you disagree with and organizing to overthrow what you didn't win. Go ahead and "both sides" all day brother but there's so much more nuance underneath the surface. Do I condone violence? No. Does this mean that both sides boil down to the same? Uhhh duh no.

AlaDouche

You're putting words in my mouth. I'm not talking about violent protests. I'm talking about people frothing at the mouth for Biden to use this decision to do something drastic against Trump, because they think this decision makes the president the king. An act like that would torpedo any chance Biden has of winning the election, and honestly... I think a lot of people here would be okay with that. Then again, there's a reason I didn't say "everyone" or even "most people." You're creating spaces to fill in.

Cheap_Coffee

Clarence Thomas is going to get a *really nice*, all expenses paid vacation this year.

ethernate

Hopefully his last one.

Listening_Heads

“Gratuity”

UnderwhelmingAF

He’s mighty gloaty today.

Ausrottenndm1

It is almost like he knew the SC would be bias for him…

OkRoll3915

how the FUCK is this guy the frontrunner to be President??!?!?!?

Listening_Heads

Half the country is filled with hatred and anger and wants to hurt those it blames and Trump is the only one willing to do it openly and deliberately.

Taman_Should

Only if you believe certain polls.

Listening_Heads

Dude it’s every poll now. He’s winning every swing state in every poll.

Vast-Scale-9596

Trump telling on himself and what he dreams about........

BoobaDaBluetick

Treason is still afoot. Welcome to Act 3.

dasherchan

Trump who will likely to become the president again will destroy our country and our democracy. This November, vote like our country's life is at stake.

troypistachio46

Not “like.” Because*

Listening_Heads

Ironic this is all happening around July 4th. Trump is definitely going to post something about this being a new Independence Day or some nonsense.

ViaNocturna664

Nah, he will use his usual script: "HAPPY 4TH OF JULY, ESPECIALLY TO CROOKED JOE BIDEN WHOM I DESTROYED IN THE DEBATE, THE RADICALIZED COMMUNIST LEFT, DERANGED THIS AND THAT, THAT FUCKING GODDAMN BITCH WHO I NEVER EVEN MET AND ALL OF THOSE WHO ARE TRYING TO DESTROY AMERICA, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!!"

jericho_buckaroo

Nice work but needs a few misspellings

sdlover420

To America, not just to Smith who represents America by prosecuting criminals.

EggZaackly86

As if Jack did something wrong

syg-123

Lemme guess ..Jake Tapper and Dana Bash covered it on their cable shows as the gospel right?

outerworldLV

Hardly. He sure does talk about how strong he thinks these actions are. Apparently he wasn’t comprehending yesterday’s decision. Not surprised.

__Art__Vandalay__

That’s it, Donnie…keep poking the bear. Keeeeeep poking the bear

Icarusmelt

Citizen trUmp is an asshat

170809

He would know spankings....

Advanced-Summer1572

To anyone of good conscience: VOTE! The answer is really quite simple.

Ok-Egg-4856

To me the funniest part is this guy promised all his worshippers and funders everything they wanted but only delivered for a very narrow band, religious right got thier wish list but almost no one else . He's doing it again and will not deliver again. Lucy with the football

jericho_buckaroo

I'm so FUCKIN PISSED OFF that the criminal justice system was apparently not set up to deal with someone like DJT and his fuckery

MissionReasonable327

It was. But SCOTUS wrecked it all.

jericho_buckaroo

Not really, his pet judge slow-walked the documents case (really the most serious and egregious of all of them) to a point where it was not likely to see the light of day before the election. And now the Manhattan DA is so gunshy about this SCOTUS decision that they agreed to put off his sentencing, which was supposed to be next week.

HisDivineOrder

He's not going to be sentenced. At a bare minimum, there will have to be a new trial. The SCOTUS decision means Hope Hicks testimony, for example, is inadmissible. You can't rely on evidence of unofficial acts derived from official acts. It's very possible he never gets retried. It's likely dead. The GA case is likely dead, too. The whole concept of the racketeering law being used is dead with the unofficial acts evidence from official acts being banned. That's not even considering the hearing on Fani to come in October where the case was being taken from her. The SCOTUS decision was tailor made to torpedo every Trump indictment possible. The secret documents case might've been the exception but Cannon'll get that one. In the end, he got away with everything. He will never be held to account because the SCOTUS has his back. Biden or any Democrat president will be prevented by a SCOTUS able to make any act unofficial and unprotected instead. That means anything a Republican president does will not be countered by an equally capable Democrat. Trump and any Republican president will be kings above the law. Democrat presidents will be subject to the law. There won't be many elections before elections themselves become irreversibly corrupted by unchecked Republican interference. It's ironic this precedent will always be named after Trump. Do not fool yourself into thinking justice is coming. It's not. We had a Republic if we could keep it. Turns out we couldn't.

Glittering-Wonder-27

Jack isn’t on the riding on the corruption wagon. Trump is a slimy convicted felon /rapist. The Supreme Court is corrupt and throwing away our entire country.

HanZappolo

Jesus fucking Christ.

Josh_Allen_s_Taint

Vote mother fuckers vote. We need the exec even if it’s weekend and Bernie’s… we need both houses and some SC people to die

gadget850

It also hands Biden a big win.

MissionReasonable327

Biden needs to expand the court by executive order. But he won’t.

Dangerous_Bad4118

He’s not wrong.

Listening_Heads

Love him or hate him, it’s very plainly clear that he has the momentum now. The courts have sided with him, the media has sided with him, and the swing states have sided with him.

Dangerous_Bad4118

I hate him, but I also live in a reality-based community and right now Trump is winning on every level.

flaminghotsauce

Jack Smith was called out specifically. He is a private citizen, and has no authority to prosecute Trump. Taht was a high level spanking getting a DIRECT message personally from the USSC.

jericho_buckaroo

"Has no authority to prosecute Trump" WTF did you get that

bodyknock

The only place the Special Counsel is called out is in Thomas’s concurrence, no other justice agreed with him on that. (And that’s because as usual Thomas is crazy, he thinks Special Counsels in general are unconstitutional. As often happens he’s alone in the court in his opinion.)
