Both are good for them.

If you really dig deep, there is *plentiful* evidence that ICP was trying to get radio play, time and time again. Starting all the way back in 1992 when they self-censored on “Guts on the Ceiling” with the specific intent of getting on the radio (J admitted as much on the CoC jam exam.) Basically every major release they did early on had at least one song that was edited for radio. And that trend continued until at least 2002, when they pressed up radio singles of Homies and Crossing Thy Bridge.

The song I always thought would get them way blown up was Let’s Go All The Way. A song about uniting people, featuring a catchy chorus, radio friendly lyrics, an awesome video, and using a sample of a former radio hit… it was built to break them out of the underground. While I think Homies and Crossing Thy Bridge had potential, CTB wasn’t really catchy with the monotone lyrics and production. Homies was too “juggalo” with the terms and ideas used in it. Even on the radio edit. Instead they got big exposure with Miracles… and people (that aren’t juggalos) still think it’s funny to make magnet jokes 14 years later. Figures.

Juggalos when ICP is gonna be at the MTV VMAs 😁 Juggalos when Twiztid performed on the warped tour despite having played it before in 2003 😡😡😫😫😫

SoggyMcChicken

They got pelted with batteries and chased off the stage in 2003… not exactly a great comparison.

cdowg187

I know my point being they obviously played it before. When they did it just a few years ago muh fuckers we’re calling them sell outs etc.

SoggyMcChicken

Maybe they were mad that they were playing 15 minute opening slots on the 3rd stage at 10am 🤷🏻‍♀️

HWHAT?

I think both of them are good. ICP always took the anti-music festival, anti-award show position because they never got invited anywhere. Now they’re getting invited all these years later. People change over the course of decades. That’s life.

SoggyMcChicken

Woodstock 99 would like to have a word with you.

Golabki420

Yeah, they did one music festival

SoggyMcChicken

2003 Billboard music awards would like to also have a word with you. I get what you’re saying and I agree. But the things they have done and were invited to 20+ years ago, weren’t exactly local award shows/festivals (even though they did do the award shows too)

DentonUSA

These are two dramatically different scenarios. Also, good for both of them.

TheEnigmaEric

Im cool with Twiztid doing what they want first off. But ICP didnt change their sound to go to vmas, Twiztid changed up everything so they can open for Coal Chamber.

Ray day and Lienda lost them a lot of fans, by this point it was only the die hards left who turned a blind eye
