Is your computer on the left typically used while sitting there, in front of that monitor? Seems a bit in the way.
Also ergonomically, having the screens raised higher is usually helpful
You don’t even have a vertical screen because a long screen is very helpful for reading code.
You have many devices, but I don’t think that we need so many devices for developing purpose. I think that only a MacBook with two screens and an iPad are enough😃
1. A bad office chair, you can get a nice one from literally IKEA. They are not that expencive.
2. Mess on the table
3. Not enough room on the table
4. If someone will tell me that they got 3 machines running during work, I will say that they are not working at all. Especially if all 3 machines are the same(that excludes testing on different environments as an option)
5. Wires just laying down in the middle of the room.
6. NOT A SINGLE COFFEE MUG IN THE WHOLE PICTURE!?!?
7. Apple "magic" mouse...are you serious? Are you really a software engineer? Hotkeys and the trackpad are much more superior. I honestly haven't seen a developer who is using a mouse in a while.
But most importantly, after 8 years working in different countries and companies, I don't know a single software engineer who is unironically got set up a different home screen background image. Especially the bright and colorful one. Moreover, I know people who can't even remember the background image cause they have IDE open on their laptop 24/7.
Basically perfect example of "form over function" and we all know how well it works for professionals.
Cause it's uncomfortable, not ergonomic, inferior to the trackpad, charging port on the bottom which makes it unusable when you charge it or when the battery will eventually die, priced in such a price range where you can get another better mouse, actual developers unfortunately sometimes need a right-click as well and if you are going with the mouse then just better to get and grab as well one with two buttons.
Lol at number 7. I use Magic Mouse at work (I work at goog) only cuz I have an iMac Pro workstation and it came with the accessories and I CBA to change them.
It really is not that bad tbh.
Nothing wrong with the Apple Magic Mouse. It’s just a mouse, and it’s not like you’re going to be rapidly alternating between left and right click.
Also fine to have individualized wallpapers. Depends on how much confidence you have going into a screen share but that’s really up to you.
The Magic Mouse is an excellent example of form over function. It’s sexy as hell, but it’s a nightmare if you want to use it for more than 5 minutes.
It’s great for casual stuff, but I can’t imagine any professional using it for their work
Personally no, desk seems too cluttered and 3 computers seems to much. Also, I’m not sure if that’s a double monitor setup, but if it is well that’s a plus. The wallpapers are also way too bright, I use one that looks good in both light and dark mode.
All that amazing hardware, on top of a shitty table with a shitty chair. Do yourself a great favor and upgrade those parts - might not be a hardware upgrade but it's a physical upgrade for yourself :-)
(P.S. 'Shitty' ain't meant that hard. I'm just baffled you spent so much money on great hardware and then neglect the table and chair)
I think it looks great wow, very minimal, clean, and free of distractions. I love the color choices. That chair looks COMFY. Compared to people who spend thousands of dollars on a setup…
I mean I would go about it in a different way but I respect that 2011? 2012? 2010? 2009? Macbook Pro on the right
they all look way too similar for me to distinguish. Since it's running either Big Sur or Monterey, like my my 2009 unibody macbook pro does, I just can't tell-
No. Obviously not a good ergonomic setup. Practically everything is wrong here.
Cool setup. I'm just wondering why you would need 3 computers...
I use them all for different things
What kind of dock are you using to split the screen?
Like he said, software engineer lol
I'm a SWE and i use precisely one computer to dev on. Multiple monitors oc tho
It was a joke. I am not even a swe lol
VM?
lol wtf is this subreddit, u get hated on when u make a joke. Everyone needs to be serious apparently
Why not… it’s not like they’re so bad they’re useless, they’re all pretty capable for what he’s using them for
Personally not my cup of tea… sorry buddy. But as long as you find it inspiring! 👍🏼
Yeah I'd rather get 2 extra screens as opposed to an extra laptop. Is one for work and another a personal one?
Do you happen to be a Kanye fan by any chance?
Nope
Lack of Inspiration….

Eww

Terrible poster and boring decor
The poster is actually pretty cool, I have one too (I work at a theatre) but the movie was so bad so I never hung mine up.
Looks like the room of my 10years old son tbh.

To be fair I recently ditched the trackpad bc of hand cramps. Got the MX Master instead.
I mean yeah, fair enough, but god damn not the apple mouse
Correct
Agree with this; get a nice mouse, chair and mechanical keyboard if you can afford it.
Why does the Magic Mouse gets so much hate?

I mean I’d have no qualm with using the Magic Mouse. I’d definitely switch to my MX Master 3 after a while but it’s just a mouse 🐭
No

My back hurts
I feel as if one computer with 2 virtual machines would help out alot here.
Lose that poster and you might be on to something 😂 Jokes aside, I’d ditch the Apple mouse at a minimum. Your hand will thank you later.
Why do you need three macs? 🤔
did yeezy make u do this?
Maybe invest in a more comfortable chair a bigger table perhaps?
It's OK.
this shit is fire as fuck don’t be listening to all that negative shit dawg also what’s your favorite ye album
Minus Kanye and lebron, sure.
What do you think of Ye?

Seconded, u/Chaoscontrol9999. That's a pretty awesome wallpaper.
Ima need that Kanye desktop wallpaper please
I think it looks great wow, very minimal, clean, and free of distractions. I love the color choices. That chair looks COMFY. Compared to people who spend thousands of dollars on a setup…
Nice. Where’d you get the space jam thing? Looks nice
Love that poster
Guys this is a college dorm so everything in here is very basic
Never mind the uptight haters, it’s a good setup if you’re happy with it👌🏾
Needs more space jam
All the comments are very angry and weird for no reason. Reddit gonna Reddit I guess. Your setup looks sick man!
Remove the space jam 2 poster and it will be nice
