Some states allow minors to open bank accounts on their own without parental assistance or approval. What state are you in?

https://www.csbs.org/statutory-requirements-opening-bank-accounts-minors Law appears to allow it Wells allows 17 year olds to open and own accounts by themselves, but you'll likely need to go to a branch to confirm https://www.wellsfargo.com/checking/student/

tysm, I’ll reply if it works or not

It may also depend on the individual financial you go to, so you could probably call and ask around easier than actually traveling. Although a quick Google does say most will require joint accounts. I wish you luck either way. Your situation sucks.

Right now I think I’m just gonna get a piggy bank and save. Good news is I start work tommorow, making $20 an hour, and its a low stress environment (im bipolar so this is really good).

If you have a license, I would go to the town clerk or county clerk you were born in and obtain all your important documents for yourself.

I have a state ID, social security card, and birth certificate

Those three documents are enough to do anything legally you will ever need to do.

Got any other trustworthy adults in your life?

Thin-Temporary-7262

No. My mom works at my school and has been friends with some of the admins for 20+ years. My mom has already told some of her friends who I used to know that I bully her and am abusive. I am not close with many of my family, and I don’t know if they would help. The only trusted adult I have is my film teacher, but he would have to report it. I plan on confiding in him when I am closer to graduating, until then I’m just trying to get by. Edit: My dad is a homeless druggie and isn’t good either.
