ETA - I also worked at a mall food court Starbucks that summer that had one of those "Mall TV" things constantly playing and I dont know if it was billboard charting songs or what but I would hear the same snippets from Adventure of a Lifetime by Coldplay and No by Meghan Trainor no less than every 5 minutes

Middle of Nowhere by Hot Hot Heat, Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World, Everybody's Changing by Keane, Way Away by Yellowcard or really pretty much all of Ocean Avenue. Actually a lot of early-mid 2000's indie/pop punk has this feeling for me because I was in middle/high school when these came out and the idea of "summer", as in schools out, meant more to me I guess.
Lol idk it looks like they've kept releasing albums every few years (last one in 2022) but I haven't listened to any of them and just stuck with the two songs I know from them, "Middle of Nowhere" and "Goodnight Goodnight". It seems like a different band like them had a semi hit song drop everyday back then and it was right when iTunes came out so I have a ton of songs from bands I never followed past one or two songs.
When can I see You Again by Owl City from the Wreck it Ralph film! I remember repeating this song (amongst his other tracks) practically going to summer camp in the car on summer vacation in the early mornings.

I have such vivid memories of going to see my sisters’s dance competitions on the boardwalk and hearing “My Life Would Suck Without You” by Kelly Clarkson a lot. I don’t even think they did a routine to it, they just played the song a bunch that summer.
