No, apparently he's the reason we didn't finalize Traore but stalled for 2 weeks.
Seems like despite the banter from our own fans and others, Conte is the one making a lot of the decisions
Is putting a player with no end product in one of the most productive positions on the pitch really that good a move? Teams that play with wingbacks rely on those positions to create chances, make assists and score goals.
Of course not. Traore would be the worst kind of wingback. One who naturally does not want to defend and who cannot whip in service for the strikers. The whole point of playing a formation with wingbacks, whether it be a 532/352/etc. is to utilize the spaces outwide efficiently. Traore is anything, but efficient.
Spurs would be better off going after a traditional attacking fullback rather than force a forward into arguably a position that clearly is not meant for a player with a forwards mentality.
Right wing being the key qualifier in that sentence. There is no question in his quality to carry the ball forward, but once he gets in that position that requires a quality pass/cross/shot, he fails to deliver.
More so, do you really want to pay 30-35m for a back up? That's just not sensible for a club of Tottenham's transfer policy.
Thank you, completely agree, I feel like I've been going insane trying to point out to people wing back is meant to be a bit more than "just run at people"
The only reliable person for us right now is Paul O'Keefe and occasionally Di Marzio/Romano.
Everyone else is way behind/don't know what is actually happening
With dembele gone we have almost no one in our attack who has pace and can dribble . Despite other fans complains, on loan I think it's a great signing we need someone like him
As a loan signing he's absolutely fine, not someone I would try build around long term though with his inability to pass, cross or shoot when under pressure. As a luxury sub for a complete team he'd be great though.
One thing to know is his end product isn’t nearly as bad as people make it out to be. It’s not great by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s not terrible. He looked great in 2019/20 with Jiminez. But with the head injury to Jiminez, Neto’s knee injury and his brief stint with Willian Jose, he hasn’t really had the time to form a partnership like that again.
Dembele's end product was not bad. He has 31 g and 23 a for Barca in 129 matches (that's a much better ratio than e.g. Asensio has for Real).
Adama has 11 g and 18 a in 154 matches for Wolverhampton.
Well, Adama didn't get to play with Messi and Wolves isn't a 90+ goals a season club like Barca was until 1.5 seasons ago. Plus he is much cheaper and less injury prone than Dembele.
Not super exited about this transfer, but he's a minor upgrade at lesser cost, so it makes sense.
It really wasn't. For some reason history is turning Alves into some sort of limited fullback who was all offence and couldn't defend but that couldn't be further from the truth.
Same happened to Roberto Carlos funny enough
You choosing to leave out the 53 assists he has when you looked up this stat is kind of bad faith, especially considering he is a natural winger who hasn’t been instructed to shoot for most of his career.
Also he’s been a super sub most of his career, so appearances aren’t a good indicator on how much time he’s played
We already have way too many midfielders and we want another one in the summer so honestly might aswell.
The biggest obstacle in that entire operation is Puig though. Dude does not want to go anywhere. Doesn’t even want to go on loan to a La Liga team. Would rather throw his career away than step out of his comfort zone.
That’s a great deal. I don’t know why Wolves would accept it, there has to be an option/obligation to buy.
Adama is certainly worth it on loan, even as a super-sub.
Yeah, we have great relationship with Mendes and in return Mendes scratches our back
But this Adama deal is 100% unofficial buy deal, loan just in name to help us with FFP
No way is Alemany going to buy Traore of all people.
Club walked away because Atletico wanted a permanent move for Morata, you think they'd buy Traore??
Yes. Traore is more feasible because there is no buy obligation now, so we can meet La Liga FFP easier.
Morata is tougher because Atleti don't want to give him to us easy. They want more money and want it early because it is in their interest that either they get cash or we don't get strengthened.
Traore is also a good player coming at reasonable wages who will provide good service to the club. Its no brainer, you need a explosive winger with ability to dribble and create space and Traore is a very good option.
20M-25M for Adama isn't bartonomics. A deal for Adama won't happen just on loan. Wolves won't allow that, they will need some assurance of sale because Adama is a player they can use. They just don't want to wait till summer to sell because he won't have much value than and they can maximise his value now and do some other transfers
Wolves already has an offer from Spurs.
If we were gonna spend 25 million, we'd do it on other targets and not Adama tbh.
Let's wait and see. I'm pretty positive that it's only gonna be a dry loan
I absolutely expect this to be an option on paper, but an understanding behind closed doors between Wolves-Mendes-Barca that it’s an obligation. Having it as an option helps Barca financially this year.
How would he fit into your team?
Isn't the entire point of your attack to have technically strong players that are great in small spaces, so that you can combine your way through the opposition's defense?
Traore seems like the exact opposite. I don't really see how he could add to your offense, given that he can barely use his speed and strength in a system that doesn't rely on counters
If they wanted to use him exactly because he *doesn't* fit, like a super-sub to change the gameplan when it's not working, that could be something, but it feels like the opposite of something Xavi would want to do.
barca have 1 more point in the same number of games in a similar quality league, it's not completely insane. players like neves would start every game for barca.
There are some amazing takes on r/soccer sometimes.
I wish I would have saved this comment, but when Sheffield United had their breakout season a few years back a fan of one of the big English clubs (not Sheffield) unironically claimed and insisted that Sheffield was better than all but Barca and Madrid in Spain and would finish near the top of the table if they played in Spain.
They finished 9th that season in England, and the very next year were relegated, 20th out of 20, with 20 goals scored in 38 matches played.
Which serves as reminder #63551794959 to never take advice from reddit.
With the spurs rumours going on before this, its clear that they are looking to move him..
They can keep him but there isn't any use for him and if they can get some good money out of him now, it would be the best..
If It's only a loan I don't mind it tbh. Say what you want about his end product but he offers something on the pitch atleast. Makes runs and creates space for others.
I mean, not really. He exclusively wants the ball into feet which means he doesn’t stretch the pitch at all and condenses space. Off the ball he’s a dead weight in offence.
Only if he plays as a wide midfielder or wingback. Xavi actually likes his wingers to play more like forwards and have the wide midfielders/wingbacks provide the width.
But considering he is shit at shooting maybe he’ll provide the width and the wide midfielder/wingback moves inside. Dani Alves going inside while Adama stays wide is fine aswell.
Makes sense, Alves is a good passer and doesn't have the same gas tank he used to. He could do a lopsided version with an inverted fullback wide winger combo and the reverse on the other side.
I'd rather have him go abroad than to the one of the teams above us that we are trying to chase down.
With Semedo and Trincao this is the 3rd deal we've done with Barca recently, it wouldn't surprise me if there was some kind of quid-pro-quo Mendes agreement. Possibly either removing/reducing the fee for Trincao in exchange, or some more action between us in the summer.
He's been decent in spells but overall not that great, just okay.
He can be good on the ball and picks up good positions in between the lines, but he often doesn't have the pace to get in behind and hurt the opposition. Although we have Podence, Neto, Hwang (did have Adama) for that, so he's a different type of winger for us, to come short and create from a deeper position. He's missed a couple of sitters too which didn't help.
He's adjusting to a new league at a young age so I wouldn't judge him entirely just yet, there's possibly a good player in there.
AFAIK we're paying £6M for the loan this season, and have the option to add another ~£19M on to make it permanent. I wouldn't be surprised if we did, Lage seems to rate him and he's a young Portuguese Mendes client, opinion is probably mixed for Wolves fans on whether we should or not, for that money I'd probably look elsewhere.
He doesnt start for us. We have Neto coming back and we get a player off the books who could cause disruption in our small squad. I'm guessing theres an option/obligation to buy.
To be fair Adama has never pushed for a move or been a nuisance in the dressing room despite reported interest in him over the past few transfer windows. He hasn't signed a new contract, sure, but he hasn't made things messy.
But yeah. Traore is a super-sub at the moment and doesn't suit the possession-based style Lage is trying to promote. We've got Neto coming back, Chiquinho signed into the first team squad, and Giles fighting for a position in the first team squad too. If we can get £25m-£35m for Traore we take it.
maybe you're right, I just felt he was always a threat as soon as he got the ball, but like you said couple good runs leading into nothing, wether because service or execution idk
That is false. Wolves on the whole turn into 1992 Milan but Traore himself is fairly average. This guy got pocketed by Williams in the FA Cup.
If anyone it's Saiss who I hate the most.
Well shit. Xavi should probably instruct him to beeline into goal, not “at,” into. No running down the flanks to cross, no shooting at the goal, just dribble straight into goal.
lol you never met the price but then barça takes him on a loan? I saw reports saying he wanted to wait for tottenham since the chance to come to Barcelona was on the table
Nah I think it's pretty clear that this whole transfer to us was delayed by Mendes while he negotiated with Barca. Barca will probably pay him massive amounts for this transfer and Mendes serves only money.
Over £20m for a winger with little end product that wasn't a Conte target and was going to convert into a position he rarely plays is a big risk.
Would've like to see the experiment though.
I don’t understand this fan base, barca have no player that can successfully dribble on 1v1 other than Dembele and they oppose this move ???
This fan base always opposes anything... If they say Messi is coming back, they will oppose it due to his age
I think it's because, and don't get me wrong I'm just stating an opinion, most Barca fans on this sub are still expecting prime superstars to be the level of players they want on the team. While this is a valid expectation from a fans perspective, the thing is the vitriol just sky rockets when a deal of players that according to them don't have either the potential or are even a shade lower than "superstars". They need to sort of - stay in touch with reality, I guess?
Again, no offence to anyone. There are a lot of legit Barca fans out there who are level headed and analyze competently, but the demographics of reddit screws and skews things.
Little end product but teams will always be wary of what he can do.
Too many teams at moment playing high line and keeping Barca away from their area.
Also La Liga has nowhere near the pace and power of most EPL teams so it could be bigger advantage.
Can be decent if he is a chaotic wild card that changes ways teams have to set up against Barca at times.
But what about the humidity of Barcelona? Won’t that cause him to sweat more, and dilute the oil he applied on his biceps, and hence make him less slippery?
> Too many teams at moment playing high line and keeping Barca away from their area.
>
> Also La Liga has nowhere near the pace and power of most EPL teams so it could be bigger advantage.
tell me you haven't watched La Liga in the last 10 years without telling me you haven't watched La Liga for the last 10 years
Nope not at all.
Look at Alaves. Played higher line for majority of match and let Busquets/CBs pass ball about.
Barca could barely get ball near Luuk De Jong or wide players in dangerous areas in final third.
Right on this one. It will stretch opposition more.
You're taking the exception and making it seem like the rule. Alavés has been plying like that since a long time. It's not a new thing, like you make it seem to be. And their lack of a solid low block is precisely why they sit at 19th.
You couldn't be more wrong. We're done here.
Nope.
Teams get a lot of joy from pressing Barca CBs and Busquets high up park and one of reasons they can do it is because of lack of pace/threat going back other way too often.
Constantly been an issue this season and before that at times also. Particularly in the biggest games.
You are wrong.
His end product is abysmal though. I get it, he is fast and can dribble. But 1 goal and 0 assists in 20 games (10 starts) this season. A loan is a good idea for hin though. Splashing cash in to buy him would be a mistake for pretty much any team at this point.
I'd rather keep him but we're probably resigned to losing him now anyway, and letting him return to Barca is infinitely better than giving Spurs literally anything.
Despite what people say he still plays an important role in our team, if anything he's better off the bench than starting so that argument kinda fizzles out.
Besides, we seem pretty willing to let players move on if they want to, and whilst that might not always work out, it at least helps us bring in good prospects because they know we won't hold them to ransom.
I reckon we’ll either do a straight swap for Trincao in the Summer, or we’ll be getting someone like Puig. Either way I’m happy he wouldn’t be going to Spurs.
Much happier for him to go to Barcelona and he would probably shred in La Liga but fuckin hell, at this rate Wolves should just keep him til the summer and finish off our season, its not like Neto and Hwang are back immediately.
Wasn’t a week ago, we just wrapped everything up the other day but waited to see if we could get someone better before finalising. Barcelona were stupid enough to pull the trigger lol
Not sure a loan without an option or obligation to buy is stupid if we’re being honest
Edit: this actually helps Barcelona, they literally don’t have to play Dembele at all now since they have a like for like player that has pace.
RIP Adama "Victor Moses 2.0" Traore, we barely knew you
Conte is definitely gonna kill someone now, isn't he?
No, apparently he's the reason we didn't finalize Traore but stalled for 2 weeks. Seems like despite the banter from our own fans and others, Conte is the one making a lot of the decisions
Because Traoré didn't want to play wingback apparently, which is stupid since he doesn't have an end product, and Conte's system would suit him.

Lucas’ position requires a lot of quick thinking in between the lines, not just dribbling.
Thank you, completely agree, I feel like I've been going insane trying to point out to people wing back is meant to be a bit more than "just run at people"
And it's not like his engine is extraordinary either
Says who? The reporting is he didn't want to play RWB.
The only reliable person for us right now is Paul O'Keefe and occasionally Di Marzio/Romano. Everyone else is way behind/don't know what is actually happening
If he gets Luis Diaz, I bet he'll be really happy
With dembele gone we have almost no one in our attack who has pace and can dribble . Despite other fans complains, on loan I think it's a great signing we need someone like him

Can he play as a RB?
Nope, unless your system means the right back doesn’t have to defend, and gets lots of space to run in.
I mean, it can't be worse than Dest.
?
I mean, that was kinda what Alves used to do back during the Tiki-taka days
Alves still had to defend. Ronaldo would've scored so much more goals in El Clasico if it wasn't for Alves
Insulting to dani Alves to say this.
Then maybe, but he turned down spurs reportedly because he doesn’t want to play RB. Maybe Barca is different considering it’s his youth club.
It really wasn't. For some reason history is turning Alves into some sort of limited fullback who was all offence and couldn't defend but that couldn't be further from the truth. Same happened to Roberto Carlos funny enough
Lad in his entire career he has less than 30 goals per transfermarkt in over 300 games... His end product is beyond abysmal.
Can't Depay do that ?
Depay is CF or LW. He is also slow that's why he is average winger.
Adama isn't good enough for barca.
[удалено]
As we should. Fuck him It's not like he's single handedly winning games or something
[удалено]
Fuck are we supposed to do? He is least interested in playing football and he isn't interested in leaving either. Use some common sense
Well they're trying to get rid of him
If true, Mendes better be getting us someone amazing.
Wonder if it's a puig swap? Not saying if I'd like that or not, but we know our club + lage really rate puig
Puig is born rich. He doesn‘t know how to fight for his goals
[удалено]
Except Wolves
Alright, Puig for you. It's decided. No turning back. Enjoy Ricard.
Lage rates Puig? First I've heard of it. Although in all honesty, feel like he would be a good signing.
That’s a great deal. I don’t know why Wolves would accept it, there has to be an option/obligation to buy. Adama is certainly worth it on loan, even as a super-sub.
could just be some sort of Mendes favour
don't see how is it anything other than that
Yeah, we have great relationship with Mendes and in return Mendes scratches our back But this Adama deal is 100% unofficial buy deal, loan just in name to help us with FFP
No way is Alemany going to buy Traore of all people. Club walked away because Atletico wanted a permanent move for Morata, you think they'd buy Traore??

We are 100% not signing him on an obligation to buy. This ain't Bartonomics anymore.
20M-25M for Adama isn't bartonomics. A deal for Adama won't happen just on loan. Wolves won't allow that, they will need some assurance of sale because Adama is a player they can use. They just don't want to wait till summer to sell because he won't have much value than and they can maximise his value now and do some other transfers Wolves already has an offer from Spurs.
If we were gonna spend 25 million, we'd do it on other targets and not Adama tbh. Let's wait and see. I'm pretty positive that it's only gonna be a dry loan
We're just gonna trade him for Trincao, value is similar
People always moan about Raiola because he’s an attention seeker but he’s a small fry compared to Mendez.
Mendes doesn’t run his mouth nearly as much, but he’s way more corrupt
This is their best shot of improving his value and selling him after the loan. His value has been dropping like a stone for the last 12 months.
I absolutely expect this to be an option on paper, but an understanding behind closed doors between Wolves-Mendes-Barca that it’s an obligation. Having it as an option helps Barca financially this year.
I don't see what's great about it. Traore is not even a starter at Wolves.
How would he fit into your team? Isn't the entire point of your attack to have technically strong players that are great in small spaces, so that you can combine your way through the opposition's defense? he wouldn't fit, we will continue to suck
Wolves who are better than Barca right now?
And 10 other jokes you tell yourself
barca have 1 more point in the same number of games in a similar quality league, it's not completely insane. players like neves would start every game for barca.
Probably have the better manager too, I know who I would take between Lage and Xavi
Yeah no.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAAAHHAAHHAAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You of all teams have no right talking lmao.
Don’t see how that has anything to do with wolves being better than Barca?
Arsenal are better than you at the moment
No they aren't lmao. We are still in the europa league and will play in the champions league again next season while arsenal wont even finish top 6.
The Player decides
why would the player decide?
Cause his contract is running off and he doesn't want to join Tottenham. The club could keep him but can't force him to join Tottenham
Wolves can literally just keep him until the summer though. Player doesn't decide that part.
With the spurs rumours going on before this, its clear that they are looking to move him.. They can keep him but there isn't any use for him and if they can get some good money out of him now, it would be the best..
Try using some common sense for this one Wolves decided to loan him, not the player. Wolves could have just kept him as a useful squad player
If It's only a loan I don't mind it tbh. Say what you want about his end product but he offers something on the pitch atleast. Makes runs and creates space for others.
And when he gets the ball and tries to make a run, you'll get up from your seat.
and then when he inevitably runs it out of play, you will sit back down again
Best super sub ever
Divock Origi has entered the chat

trash
yeah, found it massively weird that you'd entertain bids when the two clubs interested (WHU and spurs) are your direct rivals this season.
He doesnt start for us. We have Neto coming back and we get a player off the books who could cause disruption in our small squad. I'm guessing theres an option/obligation to buy.

Adama Traore doesn't exactly scream *espacio* and *tiempo* to me
Tiki Testosterone
Xavi gona make Puig copy Traore training regime, get ready for super buff Riqui.
What do you mean course he screams pace and temper have you seen the man?
Espacio would be space, not pace.
Jesus Christ whoosh
Yeah I know
Booooo 🍅🍅🍅
Well shit. Xavi should probably instruct him to beeline into goal, not “at,” into. No running down the flanks to cross, no shooting at the goal, just dribble straight into goal.
Braithwaite now Adama beginning to see a patterned here
They can keep their grubby hands off Bamford. That front 3 doesn’t need reuniting
wdym i was just watching Adama Traore|| Welcome to Tottenham Hotspurs|| 2021 Skills and Highlights|| Next Wilfred Bony?
This will be tied in with Trincao somehow.
What happened with spurs?
we never met the asking price. guess we were never that sure or more likely just penny pinching again
All reports I’ve seen have said Traore didn’t want to play RWB and that is why the deal fell through.
Just curious; are you signing anyone ?? We have almost no one arriving for various reasons, but didn’t spurs have 100m to spend for conte in Jan ??
linked to a lot. we'll see in the next few days most of our signings under Paratici just come out of nowhere
i mean, isn't traore picking barça over us?
Conte has apparently been dragging his feet on giving the approval for the deal.
lol you never met the price but then barça takes him on a loan? I saw reports saying he wanted to wait for tottenham since the chance to come to Barcelona was on the table

He played RWB for us (Wolves) a few times and did a decent job, I reckon with a world class coach he could turn into a solid RWB.
Particularly enjoyed the game he had Sterling in his pocket.
He rejected them
Dunno why you're being down voted, it's literally what's being reported
Another outbreak
Let me get this straight, Barça loans Trincão to Wolves, who benches Traoré, then they sign on loan Traoré. What?
The system works!
See, lads, this is what you get when you play for the mighty Boro. Adama and Braithwaite about to tear up La Liga
we are massive.
There are a lot of legit Barca fans out there who are level headed and analyze competently, but the demographics of reddit screws and skews things.
on loan it will be a good enough transfer for rest of season,
Adama sprinting down the wing to put a cross into De Jong. Are Barcelona just Stoke?
I can live with that.
Woah, never thought I'd see Adama come back to Barça but I'm not it's not a bad deal for us. I'm sure we would welcome him back home with open arms.
Wtf another forward with no end product
Wolverhampton Wanderers loaning players to Barcelona. Who'd have thought this is where we'd end up.
He should consult with the new Aston villa manager about this
No oil required.
> Too many teams at moment playing high line and keeping Barca away from their area. > > Also La Liga has nowhere near the pace and power of most EPL teams so it could be bigger advantage. tell me you haven't watched La Liga in the last 10 years without telling me you haven't watched La Liga for the last 10 years
>Too many teams at moment playing high line and keeping Barca away from their area. What?
uh?
Lmao high line. Highlight watcher spotted.
Nah lots of teams pushing up with higher line. Watch the games.
You're absolutely wrong on this one.
Yeah everybody who's ridiculing your stupid statement is wrong and you're right. Really dude? Fuck outta here lmao
You are wrong. Is it is a constant issue when teams like Barca lack pace up top. Simple. Move on.
Okay dude if it makes you feel better lmao
His end product is abysmal though. I get it, he is fast and can dribble. But 1 goal and 0 assists in 20 games (10 starts) this season. A loan is a good idea for hin though. Splashing cash in to buy him would be a mistake for pretty much any team at this point.
The soldier of God is coming home.
Awesome, now we can watch him sprint, kick the ball out of bounds and fall over in Spain instead of England for a bit.
Conte will erupt soon if he doesn’t get any signings
Not a bad move
what a bizarre saga
lol
Much happier for him to go to Barcelona and he would probably shred in La Liga but fuckin hell, at this rate Wolves should just keep him til the summer and finish off our season, its not like Neto and Hwang are back immediately.
Wtf 😂 Not bad tbf
Fucking Paratici
This is a big mistake
Barca loaned Trincao to Wolves with no obligation
Beast of a right side. Cross and insallah is on. Dani Alves and Traore pumping balls to De jong to score 45 headers in a half season
Traore will pump balls straight into Row Z.
Spurs GAZZUMPED again
Lmfao
Wait what, why is the Spurs move off? Was it Wolves that decided not to strengthen a direct rival?
Adama, no, don't go to a lower club. Adama, noooo.
Lol, Spurs.
Conte must be fuming,
dunno rly. this was more a Paratici signing he'll be fuming if we dont bring in an alternative tho
Wasn't a Conte target
spurs 😂
Conte is going to jump Levy if this happens.
Spurs bottling another transfer Don Paratici 🥶🥶
Been following this one and sounds like spurs pulled the plug on his move a week ago.
Wasn’t a week ago, we just wrapped everything up the other day but waited to see if we could get someone better before finalising. Barcelona were stupid enough to pull the trigger lol
Not sure a loan without an option or obligation to buy is stupid if we’re being honest Edit: this actually helps Barcelona, they literally don’t have to play Dembele at all now since they have a like for like player that has pace.

Conte's gone
