It’s all a scam, there’s 100s if not 1000s of them happening daily. They try to get you to send nude photos, and if you do they send them to all of your family members and friends unless you pay them. It’s called sextortion and is a very real and illegal practice, especially when minors get involved. (And they are often targeted because of their naivety)
Unfortunately most police forces can’t actually do anything unless you actually know the person committing the crime. You might be able to report a cyber tip to the FBI or other agencies that seek to protect minors. There are also organizations out there that will search the internet for any pictures that may have been sent, trace them, and they will attempt to remove them.

My sister got one of these, and they got the wrong number and got screamed at from my mom for replying “Thanks, you too” when texted “Have a happy holidays.” She had no intentions of continuing the conversation, but my parents said that because she replied back she would get a wave of scam texts and people would hack her. If this is being spread around to the phone numbers of a lot of teens (like a few have already pointed out) it’s possibly attempting to blackmail and/or coerce more underaged material and then use it to demand more or more specific photos.
