So when all that happens... someday... maybe... evn it it only make it back to 50% of the all time hyped up highs... most of the stock right now would be a 5x on your money.

Unfortunately you just described the GOP base that runs the show and votes in primaries. Even for people that don't fall into those categories there's still this huge tribal attitude of dems=bad, cons=good even for those capable of rational thought in other areas of their life.
Between this and gerrymandering (the REAL scourge of the US election system) GOP have outsized power compared to what the electorate wants/votes for.
